I miss the hat with the feather in it. The baseball cap just doesn't look as dashing.

>baseball cap with a feather in it

Hello Storyteller.

About this whole Captain America thing. I've seen it suggested that, since Steve is on a plane, he's using proper terminology, and "Hail Hydra" is just him telling that goon to call up Hydra.

I think I might die of laughter if everyone lost their shit, and organized literal book burnings over a bad pun.

I miss that entire outfit and the rest of them because they didn't look like armor.

this is not your personal porno

so get this, there's some dude who got SO MAD at Busiek being flippant about it, that he says N*ro of GG fame is going to pay for him to go a con and confront him on camera

this shit is WACK

also, the "pirating Marvel comics as civil disobedience" line didn't get much amusement from Brevoort

>confront him on camera
Confront him about what?

JLD, hoot hoot!

>also, the "pirating Marvel comics as civil disobedience" line didn't get much amusement from Brevoort
link pls

I'll allow this.

Screw Roy, look at Mari's hair.

How flippant he's being about Cap being ruined forever and ever

I call it "the Wolvedreads"

twitter.com/KurtBusiek/status/736450404586655744

downthread

lol. I hope that doesn't happen, Busiek doesn't need that shit.

Plz be a hilarious pun about Hailing on the comm Cap

Did you see the guy mad as hell about the cookie joke Busiek made?

Am I a bad person if I really want Hydra Cap to to fail and see Brevoort and his shitty "enrage the fanbase for maximum profit" policy get fucked in the ass?

Also hi JSAnon.

>so get this, there's some dude who got SO MAD at Busiek being flippant about it, that he says N*ro of GG fame is going to pay for him to go a con and confront him on camera
Oh yeah, real tough, confronting that old man over a comic book. He and his poor health will pay for not giving a fuck, I tell you what!

Also, I don't know who the hell this N*ro tool is, but he sounds like a bit of a chump.

that guy too!

>nada person @NadaPerson 17h17 hours ago

> @TSLuikart @KurtBusiek direct result of being baited for a couple hours. Thanks to @Nero for agreeing to fund my trip to phoniexcomicon 1/2 2/2 to confront Kurt on camera for his show. Bringing my astrocity collection to return to Kurt. Every single issue.

>only takes one pissant to change the world. @BreitbartNews is sending me to confront the racist on camera. win for me.

note: did not find corroboration of this claim

Working pretty well so far

...Not taking comic books deathly serious?

I'm willing to wait and see if it sucks, but I'm not unamused by this having blown up so spectacularly, either

Broadcasting "I'm coming to this con to confront a guest on camera" is a great way to get yourself pre-emptively banned from a con for declared intent to harass, I suspect.

Christ that delusion. Atrocity collection makes me lol hard, Busiek like "I have no idea what the Culling even is"

Bringing up Kirby to Busiek made me mad af.

>Bringing my astrocity collection to return to Kurt. Every single issue.
What, does he expect Busiek to refund him too? Fucking idiot.

No because making fans angry is an annoying policy to have

I want him to feel the failure

...

Astro City user, as in the Busiek comic.

Fully behind whatever kind of movement exists to transition actual Willa Holland to being Speedy in all incarnations. IDGAF a fuck about Arrow or Speedy in Arrow, but she's great.

Politest thing to do IMO: find out what $ Busiek charges for 2,000 words and ask him to write his opinion on it.

...

I just hate Marvel's practices. In the end it's going to be big ol nothing but the way they lie to create controversy with click bait tier shit and their Comics actually sell makes me so mad.
I'm also salty this literally took away big portion of Rebirth coverage.

Much less hilarious!!! My b

I think the just plain wrong assertions of what Marvel canon is has his inner continuity nerd riled up, and we know how fierce that thing is

I have to give him props for finding a way to make both tumblr and Sup Forums really angry in a way that I don't care too much for myself.

Oh shit, Gerry Conway is getting on the slap-down train now too.

This shit is getting out of hand.

I'm fascinated by how across the lines the rage is, yeah

Everyone hates Nazis.

Cut off one head, two more shall take its place.

Sup Forums doesn't.

Yeah, my reaction to Marvel getting way more attention than DC this week has been "this is why fans can't have nice things."

If I was running a con, I would absolutely call that guy and tell him to just stay home, lest he have a chat with these nice police officers.

Although, maybe Nero's just a Busiek fan who's running the ruse cruise. Cause all this did was make me want to read Astrocity. I enjoyed Power Company, so why not.

So many people mad at a bad comic book, so few people talking about Kyle's religious experiences in Omega Men w/ consideration to William James.

Conway's been very steady with the "no, THIS is when they were created and why" information

What a good example of how negative attention is better than positive

In the war between hope and despair, despair won all the attention.
There's no way anything outsold Rebirth though, it was an Important Event prestige format-sized book sold at 2.99

>so few people talking about Kyle's religious experiences in Omega Men
What I've generally seen people say about it is "Kyle wasn't religious before, this is just stereotyping"

I'm not familiar with William James at all so I don't have much to contribute

I've been enjoying how people have been losing patience with movieverse they're nazis stuff

the Comicosity review talks about that!

I need to get around to finishing Omega Men, I dropped off of it around issue #4. It's good storytelling, I just disagree with the general worldview and opinions on religious belief that were being set up in the story and as a result found it hard to get invested in what was going on

I should finish it and judge the book as a whole at this point though.

But I wasn't born yet and I don't even read wikis yet I know more than all of you, comic book creators!!!!!

I dunno man Marvel has got that relaunch variant #1 movie thing down pat.
They can get like 250k for a #1 easily now

Though I am hoping the second printing coming out so fast is because more people are actually buying it instead of retailers just got the normal event amount

if you have any more good links to that, share with the class

James' views on religion are very oriented to the experience and very not about the doctrine

>We're going to touch them illegally

Superhero movies are the worst thing that could happen to this shitty genre.

I think she just got cockblocked by a helicopter

Link?

>James' views on religion are very oriented to the experience and very not about the doctrine

From my experience you kind of need a consistent framework of doctrine in order to make sense of the experience. But I'm a cradle Catholic so ritual and doctrine are more my experience in the first place.

It's explained why he's so attached to the helicopter pretty soon.

I know digital is its own thing but this is their top 10 for the week's sales

DC also gave away something like 3000+ digital copies of Rebirth so that may have something to do with it

twitter.com/gerryconway/status/736681335218003969

The only thing they're good for is they make DC and Marvel reprint stuff

The popular line seems to be that Kyle has lost faith in God, but I don't know that you can argue that much. He can't finish his oath or his prayer. He leaves behind the omega and his rosary. He's lost faith in these symbols and these organisations, but has he lost faith entirely?

I think what happens to Kyle in Omega Men has hallmarks of James' idea of a transformative religious experience. And I feel while religious organizations might not escape the pus and grime of the story of the whole, religion might a little bit with Broot and Scrapps and their experiences being 'broot'.

IDK. It's one part of the whole thing I'd be really into seeing healthy discussion about.

I'm inordinately happy that Ms. Marvel is in the top ten. It's nice to have a recently-established, well-written character crack into popularity like that.

Right, and James was writing from a very American experiential tradition, hence why it's the Varieties of Religious Experience

Damn, June just got the most savage case of blue balls. I think even Enchantress felt that.

Rebirth issue sold probably as much as DK3 #1, maybe more. No way Nazi cap outsold it.

James' stuff appeals to me a lot. I've never felt religious in church, and I've never felt that my actual experiences of feeling religious (maybe just positively religious) were explicable.

Fuck off, tumblr

And of course the Changralyn clergy are looking most intently for Scrapps, who violated all the comforting ideas of their exploitative religious orthodoxy

plz let her show up in L.E.G.I.O.N. or something

Why do all these Boom Studios lesbians look like teenage boys

I wonder how many issues were sold on the back of that burning copy alone?

Have you met many young lesbians lately?

is this the most badass helicopter ever?

does she need to meet the Haunted Tank?

I hope she dies. Fucking cunt.

Speaking as a Catholic, the most powerful religious experiences I've had have always been either in confession or during eucharistic adoration, both more personal, intimate rituals rather than the familiar mass. The most common association of organized faith are common and widely recognizable for a reason, but because of that they often lose their actual meaning and importance to individuals within the congregation. It's a problem with any structured, organized religion.

This helicopter does some even more ridiculous stuff later IIRC. But sure, that's a good OTP.

...

DK3 #1 got like 100k off of that one 1:5000 variant alone

Does Rebirth even have many variants because I remember one or two of them

>I'm still on yesterday's thread

alas

so how are you owls?

Yes, they actually look like women. I mean, sure some have more boyish haircuts and wear manlier clothes but they still look female.

twitter.com/KurtBusiek/status/736460684980953090

Planning to learn Japanese and take a trip to Japan, stay there for a while. May be nice.

People also didn't know about Captain Hydra until like Tuesday night, so retailers couldn't have upped their orders that late anyway

he's such a good troll

ooh, that sounds like a big thing

what no, Scrapps was a qt

Rebirth had two variants, I'm surprised they didn't milk it with more

Trying to use up shit leftover in my refrigerator and managed to cook the equivalent of homemade Hot Pockets with pizza dough, ham, dijon mustard and cheddar.

They're actually pretty fucking tasty.

I got an experimental flower bed mostly built today

the dog snapped at me when I tried to lead him, I think he's frustrated :(

You can get jobs there teaching English at schools, apparently. It sounds like an interesting experience but I'm a total baby about travelling to new countries where I don't know the language or customs.

Pretty good and you JSA user

ready for bed

I'm sleepy, it's storming out, I'm tired of dealing with my fucking internet problems

I bought a new modem/router today and while it's solved some problems it's still fucking up and I don't want my connection itself to be bad or have problems with outside wires or anything

how are you OP?

>wanting Scrapps to die
Kill yourself famalam

What's Nightshade's origin story? How young was she when she first became a superhero?

Congrats user

Pretty good, a couple beers deep. My sister had her kid today so I'm driving over in the morning

I bought a lot of Batman comics drawn by Norm Breyfogle and Jim Aparo today because back issues were on sale at my LCS

Really listening to this song over and over and I don't even know the lyrics. I've heard it 20 times today. It's driving me nuts I can't stop listening to it.

There is an SO for Nightshade, but let's watch it unfold in the comic, we're going to get to her soon

Yeah, if you wanna do the teach in Japan thing you need to be REALLY careful researching the kinds of places that want to hire you, you can get fucked over right good that way.

mmmm, beer

>So how are you owls?
Fine. Working out thee mechanics of fictional technology is... challenging, to put it lightly. Especially when one is not especially well educated in physics.

Don't talk shit to old people. They don't fuckin' care. Poor Busiek though, so many creators are having to put up with these angry nerds because of shit they had nothing to do with. Disgraceful.

I'm actually planning to go there to study, if I get a job it's probably going to be as a clerk in a hentai store or something.
