As for the whole multiculturalism thing, I feel like as long as you live in the right area, that's not an issue. In fact, I live in Toronto, but since I'm in a nice neighborhood, the vast majority of the people around here are white. I'm only exposed to the cultural enrichment when I venture out into the city, which I tend to avoid doing.

"Socialism" in this context is the combination of capitalism with regulation and support for people when it comes to things like health care and education.
Canada didn't get it right -- they simply pour the people's money into every problem without actually solving anything, leaving bigger and nastier problems for the future.
The US didn't get it right either; huge wealth inequality, systemic problems with health care, education and opportunity for the disenfranchised.
Singapore is the only place I've been where I felt they mostly got a lot of things right. It is incredibly diverse population wise and yet it is one of the cleanest countries in the world. It has possibly the world's best public transportation system for the country AND probably the world's most efficient health care. There is a strong cultural focus on education. Every able bodied male must do mandatory military service after high school. Every male must be physical fit and have regular check ups to ensure they are! You will see very few fat people in Singapore. Food is incredibly cheap there in spite of it being a god damn island (maybe because its such a huge port?). Food is plentiful and cheap. Fast food is much more expensive than healthier alternatives (on purpose). Alcohol is also very expensive.
There are problems with Singapore too.

I personally like the Grass river and Flin flon areas in the nw the best. The weather is a fair bit warmer than than further east, like Ponton, Snow Lake or Thompson
In the south, either the north whiteshell, nopiming or Kenora area are my faves. Pretty much anywhere in the east
Gimli - Lots of beach goers but its a nice seaside town
Grand Beach - Same, but a little more of a younger crowd
St Laurent / Lundar - Open, marshy and prone to flooding. I wouldn't bother
Ashern / Hodgson / Fisher / Jackhead - Avoid. It's shit and there isn't much to do
Hecla / Grindstone - Gimli feel with less people. The resort is pretty bitchin
Easterville - A res, keep driving on the 60 and don't turn off there
Grand Rapids - MB hydro is the only thing nice about the town, the rest is quite literally a dump. Not an area I like working in, even backin the 90's
Thompson - Cold, violent, reminds me loosely of soviet russia. Paint lake is really nice though, along with a few other close to the 6.
Snow Lake - A mining town with people who like to use their quads and other toys. Wekusko lake is nice, probably my second pick in the north
TLDR:
Good lakes east of Flin Flon, in Grass Rirver park, some towards the the Pas.
Whiteshell, nopiming and Kenora area in the south are nice

The shield line pretty much is at cranberry portage, stays just north of highway 39, cuts downward east of grand rapids (in the lake) and follows the east shore to the winnipeg river. The last part kicks down to falcon lake
A small limestone shield belt can be found in the clearwater lake area, some parts of the 39, grand rapids and the western interlake. Its ends around the teulon area.
