If Russia was as great as this guy says it is, his parents wouldn't have fled Russia to open a restaurant in Germany.
And Russian weaponry is overrated anyway. Their small arms are ok but when it comes to heavy equipment like tanks or aircraft, they can't compete with American or European gear for either technological sophistication, quality control, or tech support.

Russian weapons are good though, not in the "high tec weapon I'd like to use" but good in the sense that you can outfit millions of untrained civilians with an easy to use, easy to maintain, easy to mass produce, and fairly reliable and effective weapon for dirt cheap.
It's great for mass movements or for the common person, but less effective for highly trained and specialized groups. If I went back to WW2 and could outfit my army with the AR-15 or the AK, I'd choose the AK, despite liking the AR-15 a lot more.
