Rogue One or The Force Awakens

Pick one.

R1 is not good, but enjoyable
TFA is a pile of shit

Neither. Star Shit is for children

Fuck, can't I pick both? Both are just wonderful, literally perfect movies.

Dubs confirm

TFA and it's not even close as shitty as TFA is

At least it felt like a film. Rogue One is literal fan fiction tier. Can you even remember the names of the characters? I didn't like the characters in TFA but at least I remember them.

Fuck Rogue One was bad

TFA shits on R1

I pick this

R1 is by far the best Star Wars movie. Jyn is a much more interesting protagonist than some dumb peasant, whiny kid or chick with no personality.

TFA is basically a slightly better EP 6, which wasn't even the best movie of the original trilogy.

>Jyn is a much more interesting protagonist than some dumb peasant, whiny kid or chick with no personality.
You're right, she's a dumb, whiny chick with no personality!

Rogue One is an okay movie and a decent piece of star wars media.

TFA is a bad movie and doesn't even feel like a piece of star wars media.

R1 = might add it to my star wars collection
TFA= doesn't even register as star wars, just some low quality Disney fanfiction

RO felt like Star Wars at least. TFA is Transformers level garbage.

Still more multilayered than Luke or Ray.

I loved both. I don't know what that says about me.

Rogue One is one of the best installments of the franchise.
Force Awakens is the bar none worse movie.

The film that's eagerly derivative of Episode IV is better than the one that's drably derivative of war films

Which one had the better waifu?

R1 of course. Rey is an ugly dyke.

R1

But IV was supposed to be a Vietnam analogy.

Jyn is cuter, her character isn't as poorly written as Rey, and she has more attractive soles

TFA

Reddit.

TFA by fucking miles.
R1 was so fucking boring until the last 30 mins. No to mention it had one of the worse MC I've ever had to witness

Well, liking either is reddit so...

TFA. At least it had somewhat interesting characters. Crylo alone was worth it.
R1 had a lot of wasted potential and added nothing.

R1 added nothing new

TFA not only added nothing new but took away things and/or made them terrible like Luke and han's characters

I'd fuck them both, but Jyn.

Rogue One

Both, but R1 is better.

Nobody cares about Star Trek

This. /thread

TFA hands down

Rogue One hands down and this is coming from someone who doesn't give a fuck about Star Wars.

Rogue One showed us the everyday person and how they fought in the Rebellion. Not some Gary Stu farmboy with magical powers. Just ordinary characters without plot armor. This was basically The Dirty Dozen amidst a sci-fantasy setting; a gritty war drama about the unsung heroes of the victory over the 1st Death Star.

Bin Diesel does.

I enjoyed Rogue One more, but that was probably because the hype for TFA made it impossible to enjoy. Maybe if I rewatch both, I might have a different opinion.

Rogue One was flawed but still a lot better than TFA.

R1 was ok

TFA steaming pile of shit

1 decent character in entire trilogy basically

what an achievement

Jyn for sure

this

third act of RO is actually kino.

TFA is a disappointing glimpse into the best Disney can do with Star Wars. R1 was an infantile peek at the absolute worst Disney can get away with.

If you use the word 'kino', you like Rogue One. If you think it's funny to be called reddit, you like TFA.

...

They were both bad overall. R1 was more stylish while TFA had more interesting characters (not Rey though)

The one with the qt

slag

see

I suppose all the talk of capekino is for us adults, huh user?

TFA is literally a movie designed to psychologically manipulate you into believing you like it, when it's a soulless rehash with characters that make no sense.

R1 is not a great movie by any stretch, but at least it was something different and it had maybe 2 characters with some ok writing, although they were very underdeveloped. Its main character Jyn was slightly better than Marey Sue, but was still weirdly written.

Overall R1 provides for a more enjoyable viewing experience, and the final act is actually quite nice.

>TFA is literally a movie designed to psychologically manipulate you into believing you like it, when it's a soulless rehash with characters that make no sense.
This is the stupidest thing I have ever read on Sup Forums in 10 years.

Neither, they both miss the mark, but in different ways.

Oh really? I suggest you rewatch TFA and compare it to the Originals. This movie reuses literal camerawork and character moments from Episodes IV and V especially, all to make the movie seem like a Star Wars movie, when in fact it's a corporate factory production with no heart at all.

umm wut

If you're going to compare either to Bay tier shite, how would RO not fit the bill?

Also TFA is clearly the one that feels more like a Star Wars movie.

>muh it's so gritty and realistic, and I can finally take star wars seriously

Well TFA made me hate the star wars universe in its entirety so there's that. Honestly though who did the casting for that movie? Some of the poorest acting I've ever seen.

you mean VI idiot

Everybody laugh at this moron.

In what way did that shat of a film feel like a star wars movie? It felt like a mongoloid wrote a star wars short film and turned it into a movie.

Hero's Journey into space, where they quickly learn of the hostility of the galaxy and come around to fight against it.
Family, friendship, wacky aliens and the good vs evil dichotomy. Allusions to classic cinema, including samurai and cowboys.

Feel free to similarly defend Rogue One if you can.

TFA is a poor sequel to Return of the Jedi, neglecting to provide details concerning what happened after the latter film and negating the accomplishments of said film. It's also a lackluster film in its own right, an inferior rehash of iconic films (which it won't let you forget) and poorly establishing the new material. Plus the pacing falls apart after the film leaves Jakku and the villains are too ineffectual for such an overcompetent protagonist (thus killing the tension).

Rogue One is also littered with problems. Namely its weak first act. Though it improves immensely after the death of Whitaker's character and concludes on an excellent note. Easily the best film this franchise has put out since ROTJ. Not that it was great or anything.

>Also TFA is clearly the one that feels more like a Star Wars movie.
Maybe that's why it blows.

So what you're are saying is it is a carbon copy of another star wars film in terms of plot ideas. And allusions to classic cinema and the good vs. evil dichotomy only makes for bland and tired kino, nothing new. The movie was a poorly paced, poorly told mess and had very little regard for the overall canon so much as appearing to be a continuation of the star wars universe. And I haven't seen Rouge one but feel free to be childish and turn it into a sides thing.

>mfw I try to come up with good things to say about rogue one

It was there is about all I can say for it. I remember none of the character's, was a complete bore. You can have all the neat explosions you want but it ain't going to mean dick without heart. It honestly felt like a George Lucus movie.
>dull story that didn't need to be told
>ham fisted easter eggs
>poor direction and screen play
>dull lifeless actors
I just didn't give a shit. Say what you will about Force Awakens but it has way more going for it.

Nu-Star Wars is crap

>Dull lifeless actors
Ahh if anything it was better then the horrendous overacting in TFA, I've seen better acting in porn

They're both very bad, boring movies but at least TFA actually tells a somewhat coherent story. R1 is just a mess. And at least TFA doesn't damage the original movies, just rips them off. R1 actively shits on and ruins parts of ANH.

>horrendous overacting in TFA
I'd agree, except the emo dude with the broken sword, the black dude, and the one pilot guy were alright. The old actors and the other new ones were shit.

>this whole post
I am defeated!

Rogue One felt more like Star Wars than TFA. Also even though they were pretty minor characters in the scheme of things, I did like that Disney had the balls to kill the core characters off. Should been by Vader, though.

It had a lot of Star Wars props in it but it wasn't anything like Star Wars.

Yeah, it was. Especially the space battles, though that's probably more because it takes place during the OT chronologically. Even I heard they used unused footage from the originals or something.

And because*

Rogue one is the better of the two but the original trilogy is better than both

fpbp

Unironically fpbp

The Force Awakens > Rogue One
Daisy Ridley > Felicity Jones

The pilot seemed too quirky for my taste, trying too hard to be a new funny pilot like Han in the originals. Finn was alright, and yeah Kylo is the saving grace of that film.

R1 for actual original plot. I also went into it supporting the Empire and came out feeling even more justified. I loved how it showed the rebels as more of the shitty terrorists they were, just straight up murdering civilians and attacking stormtroopers (essentially just soldiers doing their job) guerrilla style without warning or provocation.

Also watching that scene with the tank moving through the shitty desert city I realised I was watching the Iraq insurgency through the eyes of the allah snackbars.

I never lose faggot t. Georgio

Neither.
Star Wars is mostly trash for children.

Whatever annoys Sup Forums autists the most.

Can someone please tell me how you can go from this scene to the pile of shit that's TFA?

Shark>Bune????? Are you retarded?

82 replies and no mention of Bunnyfu?

rogue1

R1

Rogue One, TFA was literally a rehashed version of A New Hope with some new uninteresting characters.

Bunnyfu ALWAYS WINS

Plus I met Donnie Yen at Comiccon this weekend so it's a no brainer

Both were mediocre, but TFA at least set the groundwork for a new trilogy. Rogue One was a complete waste of time.

>Rogue One was a complete waste of time.

it was actually original in story unlike a new hope 2.0 you stupid redditer

Liking Rogue One doesn't make you any less of a redditor than the one you replied to.

i do like r/space so you got me user

TFA

Space Adventure > Grimdark War Drama with forgettable characters

>i do like r/space
I don't know what you mean by that but okay.

So TFA?

Mah NIGGA

>dat scene where he finally gets the battery and his ship powers up with a side hatch opening and cannon popping out and he goes to town

Based on the cover alone, this looks fucking awful.

Better than nu-Star Wars

>it was actually original in story

Original ≠ better
