I made an atheist cringe thread not an anti atheist thread. You being a non-believer is a matter that you will later discuss with the God that you actually don't believe in. Stalin's position of power was built from the religiousity of the Tzars and Russian orthodox church. Stalin was personally atheist, but many of those he worked with weren't.
Hitler convened with the German church, who held a prayer for him on every prayer day and the belts of the Nazi uniform read 'God On Our Side' in German, additionally there is little to no evidence he was personally atheist anyway.
Mao is a harder to argue, as there aren't a lot of points for either side other than he was atheist, a trait which him and Stalin shared, and the fact he was a psychopath, something all three shared.

There is absolutely no evidence any of them committed these atrocities in the name of atheism(that doesn't even make sense), the damage was widespread and hurt everyone, even other non-believers. It's unfair to blame it on communism, it's unfair to blame it on atheism, it's fair to blame it on opportunistic psychopaths who took power in the early half of the 20th century.

Call your local parish and ask about RCIA. Is basically just a free class with no obligations and they teach you all about Christianity. In the mean time there's a lot of great resources and forums that can answer just about any question you have.

There's obviously a mystery behind life and universe - but it is as it seems an impersonal one, not a personal divinity.

Maybe there is a source of origin and that source is in a way omnipotent, but clearly has no interest in us, and if that source was also omniscient and loving, it wouldn't get involved here - it would just give small ideas, good ideas of evolution and progress and that's it.

But again you can argue that such ideas come from simple reactions, and everything that we think do, is contained in this universe without external influence.

Unless we talk about string theory - then fundamentally our universe is in contact with a huuuuge list of universes at every moment.

Religion is horrible, because it can surpass rational thinking even in nice, good people if they're indoctrinated early on - it damaged me, think about it - they fucking baptize you early on, and get into your life, preach at school - get involved into your life, pull you toward the church.
