You must be suffering from plebius maximus then. Although his role is so insignificant I could understand people forgetting about him.
I've never seen Apocalypse Now.
Why didn't they just go home instead of going all tribal and shit
I think I'll watch it on the weekend.
>insignificant
you mean more like actively annoying

Remember to stay away from Redux
>mfw I've only ever seen Redux
What's the difference? Pretty sure they cut that long-ass sequence with the French people, right? Right? Cause that shit was fucking RETARDED AND BORING FUCK.
Yes, and that's the most significant cut, but there are also many minor scenes, either new ones or prolonged ones that together just ruins the pacing of the movie. Redux is basically a "let's throw in all the footage we have" cut.
The biggest surprise to me was that the young black soldier was Laurence Fishbourne. Didn't know that until my 2nd watch.
>me again
>fixing typo
Fishburne*
Fun fact: he lied about his age to be in the film. He was like 16
I actually like the French scene.
But I have the workprint version which is even longer. There was a scene where Willard kills a kid and guard who uses him as a shield, with a different Doors song.
I think /MCUg/ is somewhere else.
French scene (dinner) is pure kino. Deep, meaningful and brimming with symbolism about the French in Vietnam. The scene in the bedroom is also great and filmed in such a surreal, odyssean way. Loved it.
I think the bedroom scene captures what the film ultimately set out to do.
>There are two of you. One that kills and one that loves.
I think redux is still worth a watch too, the scenes are interesting and give the movie a different feel.
>"let's throw in all the footage we have" cut.
Someone didnt download the super long workprint.
Fuck what I wouldnt give for a good version of that, if not just for Dennis Hopper's death scene.
I'm a hot dog.
In the original cut you don't see willard do much loving, he's an assassin whereas in redux he's a lot more friendlier.
I thought the death scene was goofy and out of character for Colby to speak.
That's why I prefer Redux. That's what the film is about, and Kurtz was too far gone to go back to loving.
I fucking love the scene of Kurtz reading the paper to Willard and I hate that it's not in the original cut because I think all the other removals are justified (french house is amazing but fucks up the pacing)
wtf i have never seen apocalypse now
At first I hated it because it's the ONLY time we see Kurtz in daytime, but I think it was a way for Kurtz to explain to Willard that the war as depicted in the media was horseshit.
