A better question is why are poorly educated white guys the base of the right when every other demographic supports the left?

I used to be kind of like that and it was just because I was depressed. In recent years my rage at the inadequacy of the world and myself have manifested in violent outbursts instead of inward wallowing and I became fairly conservative. By which I mean I went through the whole 'democracy was a mistake' phase and ended up being just kind of vaguely fascist.

I still have lots of contact with that type of person though and every last one of them is filled with repressed anger of some sort.
