What region of your country is considered "the South"? By that I mean, which region is considered to be the most conservative, right wing voting, "red state", redneck, etc? I know in England, Northumberland is considered to be the backwards hick land. In Canada it's Alberta and Saskatchewan.

It doesn't really work like that over here. if by "south" you mean conservative voters, then yes the majority of that is in the south of the UK and around london especially. in terms of an equivalent to "redneck" thoough, that's pretty much the opposite, labour voters and would be most of the north barring scotland.
