Yes
Criterion collection Blu Ray with a 1080p TV makes it look like one of the best looking movies ever
>not Bridge on the River Kawaii
no
Paths of Glory and Dr Strangelove are up there. The real question is, which one is better?
It's definitely up there. It's a shame it was overlooked because of Saving Private Ryan when it came out. In my opinion it's the better of the two.
Yes
SPR was just le hollywood action movie while Thin Red Line was pure kino
>Aficionados of the action-packed war film will savor the crackling, combat-centered approach
no but it has the best soundtrack
yes
also this, just stunning
Only Caviezel's scenes were any good. The rest is trash. Sean Penn ruins everything he touches. The only exception was 21 Grams, and that was saved by Benecio.
Sean Penn was good in this movie
Best modern war film, sure. Zulu and Paths of Glory best classic war films.
i find sean penn highly underrated
although i saw him in public once and he was tiny and wearing giant combat boots to make up for it. might explain why he doesn't get the greatest roles.
weird to see no one mentioning apocalypse now. i'd say that's top 5 for sure.
>makes it look like
it's literally a top 5 blu-ray of all time, the only film I can think of that comes close to looking this good is Planet Earth
One man looks at a dying bird and thinks there's nothing but unanswered pain, that death's got the final word, it's laughing at him. Another man sees that same bird, feels the glory, feels something smiling through it.
>Is this the greatest war film ever?
CERTAINLY THE GREATEST FILM ABOUT GRASS
THE BATTLEFIELD WAS ALL SYMBOLIC, THE FEVERED DREAM OF A LANDSCAPER
>Paths of Glory
20 minutes of war going on, rest is trial and pre-trial
Uhhh...
>Dr Strangelove
Overrated dreck with context of war as to actual war.
Kubrick's a fucking hack and you should feel bad.
That would be Rogue One sweetie
Yah. I liked it. Stalingrad (the German one) is pretty good though too.
Also Das Boot.
No, that would be A Bridge Too Far.
>Rogue One
Ahahahahahahahahahahahaha
this great evil
>>Aficionados of the action-packed war film will savor the crackling, combat-centered approach
lol
This has got to be a fake cover
>that quote from Variety
What the fuck
Paths of Glory is entirely about war, user.
