A Finnish homeowner just received a stiffer sentence than the thieves he was fighting off after an attempted home invasion. According to a report by the Finnish language news service, Helsingin Uutiset, the attempted robbery took place in April this year. When the victim — a 35-year-old man from the town of Hyvinkää, around 50 km north of Helsinki — heard someone knocking at the door of his suburban home, he immediately went to open it.
As the Finnish homeowner opened the door, three strangers — two men and one woman — rushed into his home, launching themselves at him with baseball bats and a gun. Fearing for his life, the man retreated to his kitchen, where he grabbed a knife and was able to use it to overpower the intruders and to save his own life.
