>Universal’s The Mummy is looking pretty dingy at the domestic B.O. with an opening between $29.6M-$32M at 4,034 theaters, off a first day that’s between $11.5M-$12.5M. Last night’s previews of $2.66M are rolled into today’s ticket sales. This is a horrible domestic start for Universal’s Dark Universe monster franchise with The Mummy on track to be the lowest opening among the studio’s previous Mummies and spin-off, i.e. The Mummy 1999’s $43.3M opening, The Mummy Returns’ $68.1M, The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor‘s $40.4M and even below the Dwayne Johnson spinoff The Scorpion King which opened to $36M.
>Per one rival marketing executive on The Mummy‘s cursed outcome, “Nobody wanted to see Tom Cruise in this movie.” And we’ve heard that The Mummy in its production cost is substantially higher than the $125M-$130M reported before - in the $195M vicinity.
Thomas Ramirez
>the worst mummy movie made the most money
plebians
Bentley Mitchell

Grayson Young
My favorite part is "Nobody wanted to see Tom Cruise in this movie."
Xavier Lopez
The Scorpion King was pretty great.
Juan Hernandez
so will we get a real mummy sequel with Brenden?
Sebastian Lewis
This
Ryan Lopez
Better hope they shoehorned enough Asians into it. Only China can save them now.
Leo Adams
it's not even that, people like cruise. but literally no one wanted a generic mummy reboot
Brendan made that role and turned the franchise into basically a future cult classic. if he isn't in it why bother? imagine if they did another sequel with brendan and brought back rachel weisz, john hannah and even the bald guy who played imhotep it would be massive and everyone would go see it. but nah we get this shit nobody asked for instead.
this could have been brendan's big break and got him back in the game. but no they had to fuck his shit up just one last time.
Matthew Lopez
lol
Angel Russell
oops
Brayden Bennett
Was there ever any doubt though? This is one of those movies that you could just tell was going to bomb and be easily forgettable, just like Baywatch. It blows my mind how some people see those trailers and it actually gets them interested in seeing the movie.
Ian Cruz
Selling a bad movie with the name of the excellent first movie is a trick you can only do once. And it only worked once judging by those box office returns.
James Perry
I know we all wanted Brendan but wasn't that the point of the last Mummy movie? He's older, he mentors the young hero and yadda yadda.
How would another movie with Brendan even work?
Jaxson Davis
Not those guys again...
Matthew Moore
>“Nobody wanted to see Tom Cruise in this movie.” BRING BRENDAN BACK.
Henry Sullivan
This new Mummy movie will make 300m worldwide. Domestic box office means fucking NOTHING anymore.
Benjamin Wilson
JUST
Carter Rodriguez
>all Brendan Mummy's and Rock's Scorpion King kicked Tom Cruise's ass J U S T U S T
Samuel Thomas
I honestly like the idea of sexy female mummy but goddamn did they hire Hack Snyder to do the color scheme for the movie? Why is everything grey and blue?
Hunter Gray
This is the biggest reason for all these shitty reboots. Those fucking zerglings deserve a nuclear holocaust.
Nathaniel Walker
>“Nobody wanted to see Tom Cruise in this movie.”
That's a lie
Gabriel Cook
Needs a shop.
Sebastian Barnes
What was he thinking about while this photo was being taken?
Robert Green
I thought the Chinese Government hated ghosts and supernatural stuff?
Gavin Cox
Well they just can't show bones, and I guess they're all wrapped up
Wyatt Young
I legitimately don't even understand how chink movie regulations work.
Jaxson Gray
now imagine if the mommy was some chinese actress
Logan Moore
The affair

Daniel Butler
>Mummy Returns being worse than Tomb of the Dragon Emperor lmao
Kevin Scott
But The Mummy is fucking supernatural, are they retarded?
Liam Butler
>pay more money to the chinese censors >movie gets shown That's how it works
Andrew Ross
Only when it's an excuse needed for a movie like Ghostbusters.
Ryan Thomas
Not if they censor out the super natural stuff. You're forgetting that in some movies they film multiple scenes, one for the USA, one for China, or just cut them from the film entirely. The only times it's not possible is if it's an integral part of the film like Ghostbusters 2016.
The Mummy 2017 could easily have their supernatural stuff cut or had entire different scenes explaining the mummy's origin and powers and just be an action movie.
Asher Torres
Why do people keep pretending the Chinese box office means shit for a movies success? They aren't seeing a fraction of that money.
Jason Johnson
BRING HIM BACK
Leo Jackson
The reboot isn't of Brendan version
Leo Butler
25% from a 100 million is still more money than 100% of 0 dollars.
Andrew Thomas
Should have had Fraser bust in at last second and save the day. Would have gotten a standing ovation from me.
Connor Smith
miss me yet?
Ian Kelly
They didn't even have Brendan at least appear as a cameo. What's up with that big fuck you from Universal?
Caleb Brooks
unJUST
Colton Turner
he's so handsome, i'll let him destroy my pusy
Landon Wilson
I would have been more interested if it was more of a horror movie. I really wish Universal would figure out how to handle these reboots they keep trying to do.
Christopher Smith
doesn't matter "the mummy" name is universally linked with the brendan films.
Owen Miller
just
:c
Ryder Cox
You guys think I could pull off Brendan's hairstyle here?
Tyler Cook
looks like pepe in human form
Tyler Evans
>Gonna flop domestically >Will be a huge success overseas
Jason King
15%, but it's still money
Grayson Thompson
Only if your age is inbetween 25 to 40
Older than that and you remember the originals, younger than that and you don't care about that "lol" old movie.
Christian Evans
It's the chinks right?
Charles Edwards
Yes.
Not even memeing, The Mummy is one of my favorite movies and this looks like hot garbage.
