Living in Kiev

Hey guys, I'm planning to live in Ukraine for at least a couple of months starting in March or April and was hoping you could answer some questions. I posted on /trv/ already, but that board has significantly less traffic than here.

Anyway, the idea in my head is that I'll move there for at least a couple of months to focus on my hobbies full time (I've been working 130 hour work weeks all of last year and I quit)

1) I'm going there with the idea of training in gymnastics intensely. How hard will it be to find an english-speaking teacher and how much should I expect to pay?

2) I'd like to get a nice flat. The idea is that I want to work on my hobbies full time, live in a ballin' apartment/condo/house/whatever. What area should I aim for and how much should I expect to pay? I'd like for it to be nice. Like, they kind that you can take women back to.

3) I'm asian. Will that be a problem in Ukraine?

4) How fucked am I if I don't speak Ukrainian or Russian? I'm obivously willing to learn but it'll take time

5) How likely is it to find a job bartending for cash? I don't care to make lots of money as it's obviously Ukraine but I enjoy the job, I can meet people, and I've saved up before going there so it's fine if I'm not making a killing

6) Is it one of those countries that will give me a hard time getting a gym membership if I don't have a local address?

7) Ukrainian women abroad and in Canada have always been into me. What are they like/can I expect in Ukraine? Obviously, it's a possiblity that it wasn't just my stunning good looks and personality but maybe my passport that they were after

8) Any pro tips for the country in general? I'm pretty excited to just live there a couple of months working on my interests/hobbies full time while hosting people and meeting some Ukrainian qts (which are basically my type. Tall, slim, dark hair with pretty eyes)

TIA anons

Forgot to say that I can be swayed to another Ukrainian city. But it seems like Kiev makes the most sense

bumping with ukrainian qt

>training in gymnastics
Expect to pay 30-50$ per session for personal training or the same amount for month if it's group training.
>asian
Shouldn't be a problem in big cities such as Kiev
>don't speak the language
Pretty fucked, percentage of English speakers is the same as in Russia(so 10-15%, double that for young people in big cities)
>bartending
You won't get a work without language knowledge, and you won't learn it in time if you just head there without preparations
>hard time for gym
No
>women
Every east slavoid country is the same in that regard, you already know what they want, but you surely can find someone, just don't jump on the first available train

Rest of the info I can't give, since I lived there only for a few months with native friends, and since it's not very different from Russia, I never gave it a second thought.

>I'm planning to live in Ukraine for at least a couple of months
Why the fuck would any sane person ever do this? Kiev is unironically worse than Detroit.

Nah, stop memeing, it's SPB-minus tier.

Bro I'm from Detroit, I know what I'm talking about. Kiev a shit.

Please for your sake do not live in Ukraine. If you want to live in an eastern euro country try Poland or Czechia, and if you do want to live in Ukraine learn Ukrainian.

>someone unironically wants to live in Ukraine

you spoiled first world kid, you've never seen what east european countries look like
and Ukraine is 2nd poorest country in Europe after Moldova
you will run away to your comfy country after 2 days

What in heck are you doing in Russia then? It's not much better than Ukraine

>planning to live in Ukraine
нe дeлaй этoгo, бpaтaн
я yмoляю

Don't listen to pathetic cremlinbots in the thread. Ukraine is one of the best countries in Europe - freedom of speech, it's rich, safe and people are smart.

Gf is Russian, visiting her family.

1) no idea
2) just airbnb it wft
3) no
4) young ukies speak decent english as far as eastern europeans go
5) finding a job is hard enough if youre ukrainian. fuck knows, there has to be something english speaker-specific in a coutnry's capital. but it'll take some searching
6) no
7) women are easy, but wear a condom
8) its just another country, very cheap and poor, but kiev's nice enough. no pro tips required

Which city?

Thanks for the replies so far guys.

Thanks Russiabro. I'm perfectly fine with taking gorup classes but not sure how hard it'll be to find an instructor who speaks English.

Their gymnastics culture isn't as strong. Tbh the rational thing to do would be to live in SEA but since I'm already SEA there's really no appeal for me. That, and I love white women, lol.

I'm curious - what brings you to Russia?

That's a little presumptous, no? My family is poor as fuck in Philippines. We were poor as fuck growing up in Canada. I've lived in a bunch of different countries and traveled through around 40 so poverty isn't new to me.

бpaтaн won't translate. What does that word mean?

A8297
Are you black?

>Bro I'm from Detroit
are you BLACK?

>what brings you to Russia?
Sochi

airbnb is a last option as it's not cost-effective. I know I can find a plush apartment for 1000/month. But I know that rent is 1-200 dollars. Even if I factor in for the fact that i'll have to pay more for being a stupid foreigner, it seems stupid to pay 30/day for an airbnb

Nah. The Dettoit suburbs to be exact, where the rich white people live.

бpaтaн is bro

Surprising that you think it's shit. Better visit it in summer i guess.
I gave you the first answer, but seriously, there is no point to choose Ukraine over other slavic countries for example Poland or Czechia. It's not as good as you expect it to be.

>no reason to choose Ukraine > slavic countries

Not even in terms of cheapness? Tbh I don't know why I'm so attracted to Ukraine. But I'm doing this thing where I follow my feeling instead of logic and it's actually treated me well for the past 5 years.

All eastern european countries are cheap, the difference is negligible.

Poland and Czechia are both really cheap but are much more developed, way more people speak English and don't have a war going on.

I don't actually I kind of like Sochi, but the rest of Russia is pretty shit. I mean, just objectively speaking.

It's not THAT much cheaper for you, and people flee from the country not without a reason you know. But you do you I guess

I wouldn't go so far, but yeah, outside of like 5 cities it's pretty shitty.

1. Not very hard
2. I'm not fronlm Kyiv, dont know
3. No.
4. In some situationa you need Ukrainian friend who speak Ukrainian/English but in there are English titles in Kyiv metro and English voice in announcements of stations
5. Ukraine is poor compared to Canada, so you have to find remote job in internet. But Ukraine is very cheap country.
6. Explain this
7. Slav womans always same
8. Dont go to bydlo areas like a Troyeshyna. In advance, take care of your income because in Ukraine low average wages

Sorry for my English

It's a bit of a mindfuck coming from America because usually our big cities are our shittiest places, whereas here it's the opposite.

Fair. I can be swayed but the main purpose of this move is to train full time in gymnastics and I sort of have to line up a teacher before going. Since I'm focusing on all of my hobbies full time, all of the costs will add up (gym membership, yoga studio, learning to cook, taking couchsurfers out, etc.) Part of Ukraine's big appeal for me is that they have a strong gymnastics culture and it's like an eigth of the cost of learning in my own city.

I'm not gonna lie, a big part of traveling/culture for me is hooking up with locals. And obviously every country has hot women, but there's just something about Ukrainian women that I find so attractive.

A lot of countries won't let you get a gym membership if you don't have a local bank account so they can deduct the money automatically. So it's stupid because in some countries where a membership is like $30 a month, you're stuck paying for weekly passes that cost $40

1. No idea
2. No idea but I'm sure it will be under 600$ a month if you want a nice apartment.
3. Not at all.
4. Kiev is much better than other places for English speakers but don't expect much, talk to the youth only.
5. I can't think of any profession for you other than an English teacher. How can you work in a country without knowing its language?
6. No, we don't have strict regulations for basically anything, you are fine as long as you can pay for it.
7. Girls are sluts who will suck your cock simply for the fact of you being Canadian. They will do anything just to make you take them with you back to Canada.
8. Take a trip to Lviv and Carpathian Mountains. Kiev sucks.

There will be plenty of Gymnastic places in Warsaw or Prague lad and the women will be just as good but can speak basic english.

Dont care about this, in GYM you no need any documents.

Also, it's interesting because /trv/ is super free-spirited and when I used to go on Sup Forums a lot, I found the advice overly-cautious.

Like, if someone said they were going to Southern Philippines, Sup Forums would be freaking out about how they're gonna get kidnapped and it's dangerous.

I imagine that the truth is somewhere in between both forums but it sucks because it also makes me skeptical of advice from both boards sometimes. Either way, I do appreciate all the replies as I don't really know anyone who's done this before and you guys are definitely helping.

>but the main purpose of this move is to train full time in gymnastics
Gymnastics is for fags, find a better use of your time.

Belarus, Ukraine and Russia all have amazing training programs for their athletes for example. Russia, of course overshadows the rest because of sheer size and the fact that many ex-ussr trainers decided to move here. I'm involved in boxing, and it really shows when we crush poles, liths and greeks with no survivers, when they come for championships.

>Like, if someone said they were going to Southern Philippines, Sup Forums would be freaking out about how they're gonna get kidnapped and it's dangerous.
Any place with Muslims is automatically dangerous. Cairo, Mindanao, Paris, London, no exceptions.

>goes to Ukraina for puss
>dies
>tfw our god-tier womyn took care of another imperialist, while we are sitting at home posting in a chink-chang imageboard

>no exceptions
Singapore, Tatarstan

>English teacher

I'm not white though. I don't know if that's a problem in Ukraine but it's pretty much the reason I don't/can't teach in Asia even though I'm a native speaker. And to be honest, I've worked in many countries without knowing the language. Usually the best chances are labour or hospitality, but I've always been able to find a way somehow.

Lol it's weird that people think this. Considering how much strength and skill it takes to do shit like they do. Some of the best Calisthenics people are from Russia and that's basically gymnastics.

I agree with you. Russia has less of an appeal to me for some reason though. I'm still going to travel through it, but I don't know if I care to live there at the moment. Is there much of a Muay Thai culture in Russia? I would ideally like to fight as well but there's no way I can train both boxing/muay thai AND gymnastics.

Yeah, so that's the Sup Forums part of Sup Forums that I was talking about.

At least I died doing what I loved lolol

>goes to Ukraina for puss
>dies
Dont go to Donetsk/Luhansk and all will be ok

I forgot how entertaining this board was. I missed you, Sup Forums.

Also, hosting some Australian qt tomorrow here in Canada. Really looking forward to doing that wherever I decide to live next.
>mfw would host Ukrainian qts but none of them ever travel :(. There is, however, a surprisingly big Ukrainian population here in Toronto...which is what made me so curious in the first place.

btw, as an asian dude, will I get jumped or beat up in rural parts of Ukraine?

Ukrainian inland travelling is popular here.

Muay Thai is only popular in Caucasus region. Especially in Dagestan, for some odd reason. All Muay Thai trainers I know come from there. Boxing is popular everywhere but it's especially good in SPB for some odd reason

No. Some guys can make laugh at you(because you're different), but Ukrainians aren't agressive

going to ukraine for working is not very smart, the salary are very low unless you work on internet or teach a languague for fun. The interresting thing in ukraine is that everything is relly cheap and the women are aboslute qt, the rest is litterature

We only beat the communists, muslims and blacks.

>blacks
Really? Never seen this. Just laughing

>mfw I can pass for half-black

That's actually very interesting. Trying to find explanations online now. Thanks for that.

This only happens in bydlo areas of Dnipro. I dunno why but there are way too many niggers in Dnipro now. And everyone has a fucking 10/10 qt white girlfriend.

They're usually come here as students, because we have a cheap education prices

Shut up nigger, or I'll beat you

>We only beat the communists, muslims and blacks
Good lads.

Kill yourself normie scum

gonna call it a night. Hopefully this doesn't 404 before I get up. Thanks for everyone that chimed in.

Good night, if you ever come to Lviv, make a thread so we could hang out.

Fixed your pic

DELET THIS

Heh, nothing personel
*proceeds to eat plastic cheese*

Real talk: do you guys actually care about that shithole?

YES. If you've never been there in summer when all the flowers are blooming you are missing too much.
Only bydlo from Donetsk and russians come here to drink bear at the beach. Crimea has a great wild nature and fresh air.

My gf has been to Crime on business like half a dozen times and said it's a right shithole.

fixed it a bit more :)

I'm not even mad.

I'm not surprised considering like 3 million of Ukrainians moved here.

> not blobbing Moldova with Romania
6/10, see me after class

Come to Poland. It's safe as fak, good parties, a lot of job opportunities. In Warsaw, Kraków, Wrocław or Poznań you will find everything you need. Ukraine is shithole, don't go there.

What about Lviv?

Nice city, especially for tourism
