Its an incredibly garbage design anyway.

Nah.

(you) are garbage

Explain to me whats good about that clusterfuck.

Agreed.
You don't introduce the endgame form as a comedy gag.

I feel like it needs a better color pallet. I like the chin mouth though.

Explain what's bad about it you aspie piece of shit.

it's not the end game though user. they still need steven to fuse with them

aswell as lapis and peridot

it doesn't give me an erection therefore it's an objectively bad design

Evangelion: (you) Can(not) Fuse

youtube.com/watch?v=xECUrlnXCqk
Intentionally so: The idea is that the gems have become very disorganized and in-fighty since rose died

Fuck you, this episode was cute and funny.

You realize that's the point, right? You've presumably watched the show, and noticed the relationship between Garnet, Amethyst, and Pearl is a might unstable. Of course a fusion of all three is going to look like a mess. The characters themselves are a mess.

Mostly because Pearl can't get over her separation anxiety. As with all things in this show, it's Pearl's fault.

The eyesore color palette first of all. I mean the colors themselves aren't bad but they're used so poorly cause every two inches is a new fucking color. It looks like that bit on Pokemon that gave kids seizures.
Palandrones are never a good idea honestly. And it has arms jutting straight out the the hips and chest!?!?! Can they really not be assed to draw shoulders so they avoid it entirely. It looks ridiculous.
They tried to mash up elements of all the gems everywhere but it doesn't work cause they made a jumbled mess of random parts thrown on a wall.
Oh fuck off

Alexandrites reveal would've been better during the fight with Malachite instead of a SoL episode.

Garnet's third eye reveal would've also been better when he smacked her shades off in Mirror Gem instead of a SoL episode (Arcade Mania)

>ITT: People don't realize that Alexandrite's SUPPOSED to look hideous and either bash the show thinking it's unintentionally so or try to defend the show by denying it's hideousness

Next you will tell me Lapis is SUPPOSED to be dumb.

...Maybe
Give me examples

Well then they've done their jobs.

Temple fusion when?

Would someone help me get to trash?

Lapis being a needlessly vindictive asshole is a pretty consistent aspect of her character, so yeah, it probably is intentional.

Thing is, now it's being played at least partially for comedy, so I'm okay with it.

wow jeez it's almost like they cluttered it on purpose to show how fucked the gems are or something

This basically. You can even see in the fight with malachite how difficult it is to maintain alexandrite for a long period of time.

She reacts emotionally and never part of a grander plan, she tried building a literal tower to another galaxy, she couldn't figure out that the handship crashed and that Jasper was asking her to fuse because Jasper couldn't beat the CG, she chose an eternity of rape/imprisonment over literally any other option, and she flew off for Homeworld before realizing that obviously Homeworld didn't want her now that she imprisoned Jasper.

>She's black
tumblr pls

>You realize that's the point, right? You've presumably watched the show, and noticed the relationship between Garnet, Amethyst, and Pearl is a might unstable. Of course a fusion of all three is going to look like a mess. The characters themselves are a mess.
Is there any proof of this? What would it look like if they were in sync?

it's the one 10/10 fusion design on the whole show.
it's a reminder that the gems are still alien and inhuman.

Just imagine the shit you could do with a girl with two mouths, man. She could blow you and lick your balls/rim your asshole (if you're into that) at the same time

>Is there any proof of this?

every single time they fuse they have trouble keeping shit together. why even criticize something you haven't watched?

>What would it look like if they were in sync?
Garnet

That was the point. It was supposed to be completely mundane to contrast with the eldritch beast being shown.

The reason Alex is so bad looking is because she is drawn bad, not because the designs are bad. She looks great in fanart, but in the show, she has shitty tube-arms and overly simplified body parts that make her look like some Adventure Time design. If her arms and some curves and her body had a little bit more form to her, she would look fine. Like pic related fanart, which I think makes her look great without too many changes.

But she's so stiff looking and it makes people think she looks bad.

That'd be cool, if over time as they faced greater threats from Homeworld the fusion design became more coherent and elegant and less prone to punching itself in the face. If the gems can change their own forms surely fusions can too.

They are as in sync as possible. It's just that their innate personalities combine to create a monstrous aggressive creature.

They need Rose or Steven to add that compassionate element to the team and humanize them. Giving the fusion a more human like appearance.

Do you think she was better drawn in Super Watermelon Island (which was boarded by Joe and Jeff, who are considered by pretty much everyone to be the best boarders artistically)?

She's absolutely way better looking when in a fight and drawn by Jeff/Joe. It's part of why I wish the show actually followed a model sheet. Shows can still have cartoony expressions and follow a model sheet, I don't know why they think you must exclude one to have the other.

I agree with OP that Alex shouldn't have been introduced in a SoL episode. It would have felt like a really big event that we FINALLY get to see the three fuse in the season premiere, Watermelon Island. Fusion Cuisine, even if people thought it was cute, was really an episode the series could have done without.

1. I haven't criticized shit
2. I watch the show
3. I asked because I wanted to know if anybody had some sort of idea of what a stable fusion between the 3 of them would look like.

I like this explanation
Thank you

Thanks user, Garnet actually is a really good example since you can see how she looked like shit the first time she was formed but now she looks great, showing the stability of the fusion

If you don't think Winter Forecast is one of the GOAT episodes, then you're a huge piece of shit

I think the design is good, but the show's art style doesn't allow fully show it.

The show DOES use model sheets: in fact, SU (like many shows) have special pose model sheets where the model sheet designers approximate the storyboards for distinctive poses

here's alexandrite's model sheet

>hideous
That's the adjective you choose to use?
Hideous?

You're missing your own point. Sure, Sugilite looked like an ogre, but Alexandrite hides it under a mask. It tried to maintain that mask of being humanoid and approachable, but deep down it really can't hide that it's a dangerous thing that isn't human or safe.

It's alien. It's unsettling.
Find a better adjective.

The only ones that are hideous are Sugilite and Sardonyx

I meant hideous as in "clashing colors, janky design, over designed sensibilities"

I want to coax Alexandrite past Pearl's latent disgust of food and then watch her eat with her gigantic true mouth

Again, none of that has anything to do with Alexandrite, and better describes the two other fusions that I mentioned.
also
>balancing the color palettes of three separate characters
>clashing colors
yeah, sure, I guess that's unavoidable at worst.

Sardonyx is a meme fusion.

Sauce?

do you know how geometry works

that's the joke

This seems vaguely implied with Garnet and her first formation.

I kind of wanted to see Steven and Pearl form a Rainbow Quartz at some point and initially, it looks wonky and goes into full lovecraftian as Pearl gets clingy and Steven feels uncomfortable.

Later on though, after some more development (and pearl being forgiven (like that's hard with steven) and forgiving herself) they form a much more elegant Rainbow Quartz)

Looks like a fucking Eva.

Nigger that pic is just pure horror and uglyness, the actual character is ferocious but still cutesy enough not to be uncanny

That is patently absurd.

Next you'll be telling me that this scene was a reference to Utena.

Get out of here with your insane conspiracy theories.

God, she holds that sword like a retard.

The animation in this show is so bad, it's embarrassing when they reference shows that actually have good animation.

>Night Palette
That strongly suggests she's going to have a different Palette in the future, when Pearl, Amethyst and Garnet are more in Sync.

>Of course a fusion of all three is going to look like a mess. The characters themselves are a mess.
then why Opal is such a qt3.14?

whole episode was dumb.Like, okey, Steven is ignorant child, but why Greg thought it was good idea? Also Pearl was best choice for dinner
Still better than Ronaldo episodes

>Pearl was best choice for dinner

nigga she thinks eating is disgusting

He should've taken Garnet

Her first appearance in Fusion Cuisine was at night.

Her second appearance in Watermelon Island was during the day.

No you mega retard it shows she has a different color palette at night than she does during the day. Like every fucking character in the show, and most animation in general. Greg has a different color palette at night, if the model sheets state that would you think that suggests he's going to be more in sync in the future?

>your pic
why bother making sheet for one specific emotion that never ever will be in the show again?

This. It's been pointed out in the show multiple times over that Garnet and Amethyst miss her too, but they more-or-less got over the fact that she's gone. It's Pearl who still clings to her like an autist instead of moving on.

Then again, it's not hard to understand why; Pearls were basically programmed to be servants, it's their life's purpose to have someone whose orders they will follow. It's not something you can just get out of your system in a short ammount of time.

So the animators get it perfect?

Garnet can`t make conversation
>Hello, it`s Mom Universe, children are playing with swords, they`re bleeding, oh no, they`re dead, don`t call again
Pearl could just made up reason to not eat

Still better than Pearl or Armrest

>jasper the only one who's design hasnt been butchered yet due to the Lamar storyboards

The reason for her color palette is because actual Alexandrite has two different colors, depending on the light it's in. UV light makes it look greenish-blue, while fluorescent light makes it look magenta. It's supposed to have two very different colors in its color scheme.

Alexandrite isn't special, the entire joke was introducing a fusion in such a mundane episode. It was also the first time we saw Connie's parents, and it gave a good hint towards Ruby/Sapphire.

They're saving the special fusion to be the Temple Fusion.

The only way Opal can even remained combined is if Pearl and Amethyst are on the same pages in though which is extremely hard for the two.

You left out Connie

Actually Opal holds together just fine if they can get past the initial instability while the Opal personality forms.

This. I thought everyone understood the point of Alexandrite's clunky form. The three of them fusing is unstable and it shows.

>the relationship between Garnet, Amethyst, and Pearl is a might unstable. Of course a fusion of all three is going to look like a mess.
I've actually wondered about this a lot. Say, for example, that Lapis and Jasper were actually best friends when they fused, would Malachite turn out differently?

I wonder what Sugar would say. I remember an interview where she said she treats fusion as a representation for a relationship. Like, when you're with someone you love, the relationship takes a life of its own and you both act out that relationship. Something like that, anyway. She even uses herself and Ian as an example.

>The reason for her color palette is because actual Alexandrite has two different colors
This. I actually appreciated the color scheme after reading on the actual stone.

She is hideous but that's the point cause she's an unstable gem. Also the actual stone has different colors depending on the light.

I thought this was common knowledge.

>Is there any proof of this? What would it look like if they were in sync?
Probably closer to the temple statue, but Rose Quartz is the missing element (in more ways than one).

Designs can be chaotic and still not be a bad design. If being shots the point than congrats she looks like shit.

This. I like how it was such a relatively mundane/trivial situation and a humongous alien beast is featured. Shows how much of an alien being the gems are.

>would Malachite turn out differently?
Yes. They were both not on the same page, so Malachite turned out a bit more monstrous to show how unstable they are.

But the only inherently unstable fusion between them is Amethyst+Garnet, why does that one fusion just ruin everything?

Pearl has her own issues that add to the problem too.

It helps establish the fact that Greg is into large women.

Not to mention that even though they are of different Caste they are the basically the same type of gem. So that could have something to do with the stability as well.
