>this Phantom Stranger writing

So bad.

It was a Len Wein Swamp Thing, alright...

Nothing crazy existential and kind of predictable but perfectly serviceable...

I only want Swamp Thing to be a cool horror comic. It falters when it gets too far off track.

I haven't been reading this series, because I've been busy reading the original Swamp Thing (got all the way from Wein to the COIE tie-in by Moore), but does "Matt Cable almost dies, but Anton Arcane saves his life to posses his body" happen a lot, or is it just a coincidence?

Well, at least it ended differently.

bumping to read.

Nice cover.

>this nigga's face

...

Zatanna is THICK!

>going up against Phantom Stranger, Spectre, and Zatanna all at once

He's fucked.

Why would he ever voluntarily go back to that?

Well that was unexpected.

okay

woah

nukes never work

bumping for others.

Get fucked

...

Why do they always make Matt a bad guy? He was awesome as Dream's Raven.

>Kelly jones on the pencils

No

Bumping.

"Form" and "long" don't rhyme, Etrigan.

That whole scene was poorly written.

...

Seriously not muh Stranger.

I'm really not liking this mini

Eh... Aside from Stranger's dialogue being off most of it was decent.

Swamp Thing should be legendary not decent or serviceable

Nah. Comics fans have this weird need for everything to be "LE SO LE EPIC LE XD". It's really more than enough for a book to just have a cool story.

I like the horror style posing and framing but the story of this series is fucking STUPID.

People wanting to take over the world makes zero sense in the DC/Marvel universe.

What do you think you'll do when the Justice League shoes up genius?

Having all the heroes in one combined universe was a mistake.

Ennis is the only writer I've seen that consistently knocked Etrigan dialogue out of the park.

But user, it's totally fine for a story to be interesting and cool if its about a great many things
However it's Swamp Thing were talking about here. WhileI agree a story doesn't need to packed with "LEGENDARY NONSENSE OVER AND OVER%65$ his should have something to make you say Take nu52 Snyder's "can't write endings" issue 7 or 8 when Alec became swamp thing and annihilated the rotation around him and flew to war.
Or Moore where he BECAME THE FUCKING MOUNTAIN
It should just have a depth or wow I feel this mini just didn't have.
It's Swamp Thing, this user just expected more.

I miss boarding the Souletrain :(

...

I love this issue tbch.
The interaction between Phantom Stranger and The Spectre is the best part of it.

That shit was what got me into Phantom Stranger, Spectre, Constantine. All the magic/dark side of DC is so wonderful

That's kind of the whole point. Expecting to be blown the fuck away by everything you read is just retarded and unnecessary. Sup Forums is especially guilty of this. It's why this board's favorite writer is Grant Morrison because they want everything to be "THE HYPERCRISIS IS REAL THIS COMIC CHANGED MY FUCKING LIFE". But putting ANY media on a pedestal like that is just stupid. There's a difference between ambition and just being fucking full of shit. Old school Frank Miller or Howard Chaykin were the latter. The britbong invasion faggotry was the latter. That's not to say nothing they did was worth reading, just that that whole approach to comics in general is retarded.

And I can agree for the most part.
Just look at Civil War 2.. literally "let's all be stupid assholes" the comic with pretty art.
I totally get your soapbox man but all I was saying is I was underwhelmed and maybe wein shouldn't return to the character

What if I'm not such a loser to dedicate my time and life reading mediocre comics but instead am looking for writings that have some substance?

I just started Moore's Swamp Thing run, and I'm confused about Matt Cable's powers. He basically can conjure waifus as fapbait?

Uhhhh well I guess you shouldn't spend your time reading shit

>Old school Frank Miller or Howard Chaykin were the latter.

Fuck, I meant the former.

>substance

This is exactly the kind of bullshit I was talking about. The comics industry began to fall apart when people started thinking "comics should be more than just comics'.

...

Then you'd be on /lit/ with all the other pretentious faggots.

Is this what reading comics from the big two is always like? This is seriously dumb.

No.
When you watch a movie from 20th century fox is it the same as their other properties?
When you eat meat does it taste like every other meat?

User your mine before you ask pretentious questions

RELEASE THE KRACKEN

...

i finally started reading Moore's run and people don't sell how straight up entertaining it is

...

Is such quality reading

The Green Team was cool

I am..

That's your American definition of comics, not everyone's else. Here in Europe it's considered as a legit art form. It's you fatasses that keep validating mediocrity through your dc/marvel crap and think that the rest of the world should be the same dumb manchild good consumer as you are.

...

...

Yeah people like him make me feel like the industry is so held back, I wish we had that mentality

This writer literally created Wolverine.
He old as fuck.
