>A dry county is a county in the United States whose government forbids the sale of any kind of alcoholic beverages. Some prohibit off-premises sale, some prohibit on-premises sale, and some prohibit both. Hundreds of dry counties exist across the United States, a majority of them in the South.
Alhamdulillah!!
Samuel Roberts
>Data collected by the National Center for Statistics and Analysis (NCSA) also support the claim of higher rates of DUI accidents in dry counties, "dry counties had a fatality rate in drunk driving accidents of 6.8 per 10,000 people. Conversely, wet counties had 1.9 per 10,000 people."
James Torres
BUT MUH ANTI-DEGENERACY
Jose White
interesting
Joseph Ramirez
kek
Austin Thompson
the difference is that in the wet countries, people who drink always end up black out drunk, so they can't start driving
Samuel James
What it basically means for most of these places is they don't let them sell hard liquor in grocery stores. They have to have a little separate place for all the hardcore drunks to wander in and out of, which is easier to watch for stealing anyway.
David Sullivan
What fucking map is this? there are no dry counties in NJ and PA
Daniel Hughes
>>A dry county is a county in the United States whose government forbids the sale of any kind of alcoholic beverages. Some prohibit off-premises sale, some prohibit on-premises sale, and some prohibit both. Hundreds of dry counties exist across the United States, a majority of them in the South. What a garbage, misleading line. Yes, there are some counties "whose government forbids the sale of any kind of alcoholic beverages" but there aren't hundreds of them.
Dylan Campbell
>forbid the sale on evidently religious grounds >it's not deemed unconstitutional wow really outdid yourselves there, america
Joseph Green
>have to drive 40 minutes round trip just to get whiskey when the grocery store is 5 minutes away
Sebastian Cruz
>live in dry county >don't care because i'm not a degenerate who drinks alcohol
William Bennett
Wonder what the difference between the moist (yellow) and wet counties in NC. All of NC has specific stores for alcohol and in that yellow is basically the capital of beer on the East coast (Asheville)
Ian Harris
Same. >if you don't like alcohol you must be Muslim
Jackson Hernandez
blue equals wet (few restrictions) yellow equals moist (some restrictions) red equals dry
also this isn't even a meaningful thread
Cameron Hernandez
nothing wrong with being muslim, anyway
Matthew Lee
is it possible it's reactionary? Places with drunk idiots prove they can't be trusted to drink.
Carson Morales
Probably a Muslim living in Guatemala
Alexander Parker
that's not what reactionary means you fucking idiot
James Long
How does your not liking something or indulging in some activity translate into others not being allowed to make that choice on their own..? And how exactly isn't this government respecting an establishment of religion?
Juan Brown
Doesn't it go the other way too? Like if a community agrees they'd rather not have the influence of alcohol in their community - shouldn't they be allowed to do that on a local level? Why would I care if Bumfuck County Tennessee is dry? Let them be.
