>PG-13, at that
>"war" movie with no blood

You've done it again, Nolan!

what choice did they have?

There's no ground combat you low IQ ape.

because the armada that crossed the channel multiple times to rescue the men were pretty heroic?
>multiple opportunities to stop making runs and leave the rest of the men there (but they didn't)
>almost entirely unarmed
>a large portion were civilian ships with civilian drivers who were doing it out of duty for their country
>the UK would have lost the war if they failed
>RAF was decimated so they were under fire from the Luftwaffe the entire time
Are you retarded, OP?

>I fell to my knees and cried "NOLAN"

>people die
>with no blood loss
>they died of INTERNAL bleeding

Dunkek has been presented as a 'triumph of the British spirit', which originates from wartime propaganda. It was a total catastrophe and fuck up being presented in a positive light

The britcucks do this everytime they are cucked, see the reactions to the recent terror attacks. They crapped on about not giving into hate, love unity bla bla

Tldr the English are cucked faggots who lie about losses

>the UK would have lost the war if they failed
false, the destruction of the BEF wouldn't have changed any of the reasons why Germany was unable to knock the UK out of the war.

You just can't invade an island without a navy.

>Germany didn't invade the UK because they had no navy
Wrong.
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_Britain

Nolan does not shy away from having authoritarian conservative themes in his movies. He just never states it outright since that's suicide in Hollywood.

navy... airforce... either way a bunch of infantry doesn't matter

yes I know what the battle of britain is, what's your point? Even if the RAF had been defeated Sealion would have been an absolute disaster

look at the various amphibious operations that were conducted by the US in the pacific and you'll start to get an idea of just how many ships and resources are required to pull off an successful amphibious assault.

1. You must physically land troops in chosen target area. This requires special ships specifically designed for amphibious warfare. And you must build these ships in very large numbers because you want to land a large number of troops in the target area. You must also figure out how to land tanks, because soldiers without tank support will be easily defeated.

2. If you are attacking an important area, then it is inevitable that you will meet heavy resistance from the defenders. One way to even the odds is to take battleships and heavy cruisers, and have them bombard probable enemy positions prior to landing. This will greatly reduce the danger that your troops will face as they land.

3. You must be able to prevent enemy warships from disrupting your operation. There were several times in the Pacific when Japan attempted to stop the American advance by using battleships to bombard beaches and airfields held by US marines. Usually, the U.S. Navy was able to prevent this from occurring, but when they weren't able to prevent it, the results were devastating. So you absolutely must be able to protect your own troops from bombardment.

4. Troops need constant re-supplies of food, fuel, etc. as well as reinforcements in order to remain combat effective. This means bringing in cargo ships must be brought in consistently to re-supply the men in the field. Doing this requires a large number of transport ships. And you also need a significant number of naval warship vessels dedicated to protecting those transport ships as they come and go

compare the size and capability of the Kriegsmarine to the Royal Navy.

this is some meta shilling shit top jej

Autism: the post

will the flick show this?

>what is a strategic victory
Dunkirk could have been a catastrophe that led to the loss of the entire British Expeditionary Force and almost every single trained soldier in the British army. Instead they lost a lot of material, but relatively few soldiers, all of whom were able to return and train the next cadre for the campaigns ahead.

>suspect eventually detained
>active de-escalation
>minimizing preventable death or injury
well handled.

>nearly 100,000 French fighters evacuated

Nice try Jerry

>35 000 french fighting in the rear guard to delay the operation captured
wonder what the thought process behind your post was

>British troops
Oh, they are famous for... no idea, lol.

>>minimizing preventable death or injury
Could have been minimized more by shooting the violent perp. He'll probably end up stabbing someone else in the future now that they left him alive.

>60.000 brits fighting during the evacuation that were left behind
Wonder why you leave out all the facts Jerry

>A further 64,429 Allied soldiers departed on 1 June,[64] before the increasing air attacks prevented further daylight evacuation.[81] The British rearguard of 4,000 men left on the night of 2–3 June.[82] An additional 75,000 French troops were retrieved over the nights of 2–4 June,[64][83] before the operation finally ended. The remainder of the rearguard—40,000 French troops—surrendered on 4 June.[82]

The trailer has a dock full of troops getting strafed and there's no blood at all, just squibs going off throwing bits of cloth and dust; in short typical PG13 bullshit.

To show how much of a fucking idiot you are.

I guess Saving Private Ryan will never happen again, huh?
Amazingly well done movie. When I was young, as a preteen in America, I honestly believed those Nazis were surrendering with their hands up because they washed them. They were mowed down for being assholes. Then I grew up and realized just how fucked that was.
We can't have that kind of war movie again, can we? One where it's completely shades of grey. Where yes, you let a Nazi live, how about that? You war hero? Oh but he fucking kills your friends because he wants to survive AND help his country if possible.
If you fuckers are right and this is PG-13, I expect one """battle""" scene where the British get their fudge packed, then hide on a beach for a while and get "artistically" bombed while Cillian Murphy reminds them of how stupid this all is.
Spielberg might be "some jew" but Christ that movie will never be topped, will it?

So, in essence, Germany is once again trying to take over Europe. Except, the leaders have learned that they need a larger troop presence. What better troop presence than "desperate women and child refugees". I can see it already. All these fucking males they've imported who can't find work, will be turned into angry foot soldiers.

Here is a better movie.

1940: the fall of france by Andre Beaufre
amazon.com/1940-France-General-André-Beaufre/dp/B0006BQQOW

found it in my school's library when researching the battle of france for a paper. There's a part a bit later where he talks about Dunkirk and the Belgian surrender and says how its tempting to consider that a betrayal of France by her allies. But that would be unfair since it was France's job to hold the line and she had failed at that job so utterly at every single opportunity, so how could you then turn around and blame your allies for deserting you? Saying that France had the exact same allies that it did in 1914, but when that high command was faced with a German advance they were able to stop the bleeding and hold the alliance together, while he and his fellow officers failed.

Didnt Hitler issue a stop order, if it wasn't for that the Germans would have smashed the British army right there.

the greatest generation sure did have a lot of nazis in it

Germans killed my ancestors simply because their ideology said that Germans are superhumans so anything a German did to a "lesser race" was inherently justified. They deserved everything they got and more.

no, von Rundstead and von Kluge gave the stop order so that the badly overextended German forces could consolidate before assaulting the Dunkirk pocket. They were concerned that if they attempted the assault immediately and it failed a British counter attack could lead to a breakout.

He thought he could broker peace, or atleast a cease fire with the capture of the men. If I remember correctly he thought he had them encircled, poor communication I think. Army eventually got to the city

>He thought he could broker peace
Hitler did offer an armistice with the UK after Dunkirk (which was refused) but the stop order didn't come from him, and there's no evidence that he let the BEF escape in the hopes that it would make Britain more amenable to peace.

After the invasions of Czechoslovakia and Poland there was realistically no way that the British would ever be willing to trust Hitler again.

>that frenchie and Brit fighting about who sacrificed more.
>meanwhile forgetting the Indian army supplied the food, ammunition, money, and even men.
without them the asian front was lost.

>muh glory.

>forgetting the Russians who sent their men like cannon fodder but still managed to protect.
>forgetting it was the Americans who saved them in the end.

yea bravo frogs and brits. you'd not survive a year without us americans.

>My shoop got posted

It's a nice feeling

It was six guys not a literal army.

Brits didn't do anything of any importance during the entire war. Americans, partisans, and russkies did the brunt of the work and literally any battle the brits were involved in could have been won without them.

I didn't realize ballistic weaponry was limited to ground combat

Retard faggot

Germany stopped because they had to, they would have been stretched too thin if they pursued and would have been wide open to a French counter-attack. I'm not exactly sure where this meme comes from that Germany "let them" escape.

while what you say is true, the British people and military fought hard and sacrificed a great deal to ensure victory over the Nazis, I think you're downplaying that too much. The British could have accepted an armistice with the Nazis, but they didn't. They fought on and nearly 400,000 British (not commonwealth) soldiers lost their lives for that victory.

>us americans
>us
bud you weren't even testicles back then

>britcucks in charge of heroism
top kek, fuck right off, gingers
In the end, only 3 factions new how to make war in their own right, russkies, krauts and burgers to extent

>russians
Of course, the classic "keep throwing unarmed men at the enemy until they drown in bodies while surviving off American supplies" tactic, truly a great nation. The USSR would have collapsed within a month without allied supplies.

>burgers to extent
Pacific theater was practically all them. Nuked Japan for a laugh at the end of it too.

Sup Forums thinks real life is like their map painting autism videogames, and they often forget that the French actually exist because they buy into the le surrender meme so hard that they really believe it's true.

Give them some credit, their country and colonies were vital as staging grounds for invasions/naval bases/air bases.

The rating makes sense in terms of the story, he doesn't want to make a yet another Saving Private Ryan.
Some excerpts from an extensive Dunkirk interview:

>(Smile.) Do not repeat it to the studio: it will be my most experimental film. By far. I preferred to make a sensory, almost experimental movie. Without dialogue. The soldiers have no history - at least I don’t tell it. Most of the crew didn’t understand why I was screening them The Wages of Fear. But it was the one that made the most sense. Which talks about mechanics, procedure and physical difficulties. I rewatched Pickpoket and Un condamné à mort s’est échappé, just for that. Bresson details everything, creates suspense with details.

>[Saving Private] Ryan is a film about the body, blood, fear of being dismembered. Fear is physical. Steven was able to create a visceral intensity of the experience of war. Dunkirk doesn’t play in the same category. It’s a movie with suspense and a race against time.

>It isn’t by accident that Heart of Darkness by Conrad is one of my favorite novels. It’s the purest form of geography and storytelling. Conrad never repeats himself, he sinks gradually into the depths of the human mind. Is it an inward journey or a trip out of oneself ? That’s the real question Conrad is asking. And 2001! And Dante! How to tell the trip ? This is the main question of cinema.

>not playing EU4, HOI3 and Vicky as Prussia

fucking pleb

>unarmed men
this is a meme, one thing the red army never had a shortage of was rifles. There's a reason Mosin Nagants are still the cheapest milsurp weapon 70 years on.

>The USSR would have collapsed within a month without allied supplies.
Operation Barbarossa had already been stalled by the Russians before the first lend lease shipment arrived. As much as I hate to agree with them the Russians are right when they say they could have won the war alone, although it would have been a far longer and bloodier affair. As soon as Germany failed to win the war in 1941 they were finished, their entire military doctrine was built around securing a quick victory, they weren't at all prepared to fight a war of attrition against a much larger foe with more experience fighting in sub-arctic conditions.
