Okay, Sup Forums. What's been your pick for the best comic of the decade so far?

Okay, Sup Forums. What's been your pick for the best comic of the decade so far?
For me, it's pic related.

>of the decade so far

You could just say "of the last five years"

But yeah, Pax is definitely right up there.

Pax, Ultra, or Rebirth

Let me just say, I loved Pax Americana, reading and reading it over and over it was a blast, so much there.

However, I'm gonna put forth pic related: just like Pax, it was a one off in the middle of a larger event that also worked excellently as a one shot.

In addition to Pax, it didn't need to resort to Morrison's usual Meta toolbox to do it, it was just a really tightly written comic book that wasn't anything more than a comic book.

>potato art and shitty writing ripping off Watchmen
The best comic of the decade was Ms Marvel, the only new hero worth a damn in 10 years that wasn't a white male

For all the same reasons I just listed off here

M.O.D.O.K. Assassin

Blow me, it was >>>PERFECT

>waifufags
Not even once.

The Dial H issue with Open-Window Man.

I forget the issue # off the top of my head.

>pic related?

What'd you like about it so much?

My friend kept going on and on about it, and I genuinely laughed at the parts he showed me but I never got into M.O.D.O.K. as a character.

good b8

...

Damian is better than her

This one?

Blew me away when I read the collected edition, I will never spoil this issue for someone, it was too fucking good.

What's under the mask?

Yep, that one.

Man I wish Mieville would do some more comics work, doesn't even have to be under DC again.

There are too many it is very hard to choose.

All of Lose came out in the last decade
Nijigahara Holograph
TF vs. GI Joe
Copra started this decade

There are way too many options that I have picked up at shows every year to come close to narrowing it down

But my gut says Haunter so Haunter it is.

...

BIG GUY 4 U?!???!
SOMEONE GET DIS HOTHEAD OUT OF HERE!!!1111 XDDD

I should've guessed, Dave.

Subjective personal favorite: Prophet

Objective best of the medium: Building Stories

Thanks for the non-big two suggestions, I'm on top of TF VS GI Joe, I'll definitely check the rest of those out!

Scioli posted this on his tumblr two days ago, cannot wait another minute.

Damnit no, this isn't a Big Guy reference. That guy in the pic is Johnny Carcosa, either the King in Yellow or a servant of his.

These are also pretty good answers

Nothing.
Or tentacles.

It's just...too good.
Fuck, it made Neonomicon retroactively worthwhile

Simpler put - Johnny Carcosa is Nyarlathotep, also known as the Haunter of the Dark

THAT'S who he is?

Oh damn, that's worse.

Mine is also Pax. There are no other comics where the direction you read the book doesn't matter at all.

Prince of Cats, Fury: My War Gone By and One Punch Man.

all 3 pretty good answers too

Yeah, it's revealed in Neonomicon.
And now that Robert Black has disturbed the Shining Trapezohedron by defiling it's temple...he's FUCKED

It has everything you could want in a comic: beautiful, violent action; humor; subtle drama; a grotesque, lovable, autistic genius with a chainsaw peripheral killing b-listers and blowing up rivals with his mind while spilling spaghetti over a girl. It's also self contained and a mini so it doesn't last long enough to get old or stale. It was a fresh take on a character I'm sure no one realized could be a compelling antihero. And it didn't have to juggle years of convoluted continuity so we still got good Marvel characters but without the baggage.

Seeing someone in the industry retweet the chronological edit we produced was pretty cool.

The decade's been seven years though.

Dude, six and a half technically.

a decade is technically any period of 10 years and doesn't have to start on a x0, if we're being serious

Still ongoing and pretty new, but nothing has wowed me like Wrath of the Eternal Warrior has in a long time. In terms of action capeshit, it kind of stands by itself.

I will check it out but action cape type comics in America are currently being destroyed by OPM and MHA for me

Copra is the one of those that really stands above.

Boxers and Saints
Counts as 1 right?

...

>Memender
Shit taste desu

The OP is Grant Morrison and you think that *now* is a good time to bring up the topic of memes?

Not that guy but fuck off twat Uncanny was a shining beacon of hope in an ocean of shit.

OPM and MHA are two very different beasts. One Punch Man is a parody of superheroes, while My Hero Academia takes on every cliche in stride.

That said, Japanese authors seem to write heroes well because they don't care about the baggage dragging Marvel and DC down.

I would agree Opena is really fantastic on that comic

This. Also, kek

Also they have more invested in action than American comics typically do.

It is shonen action merged with Superhero idealism it SINGS

and when OPM wants to go in and just be an action comic it does really well too.

Can you show me the edit? I just got it Ad was going to start reading.

Pax Americana, Batman & Robin #1, Action Comics #13

I could think of non-Morrison/non-DC ones but they're just on my mind right now

You essentially just read it backwards.

Decade started at 2011. This century started at 2001. Ignorant fuck.

>muh feelings

NO

>muh feelings

The fuck? What part of that comic makes you think that?

>nothing but capeshit
:^(

...

That isn't true

Ultra Comics was better out of just Multiversity.

Best of the decade is probably either Andre the Giant - Life and Legend or Andre the Giant - Closer to Heaven.

Runners-up include any of the Fearless Dawn comics, Fury MAX - My War Gone By, Transformers vs. G.I. JOE, Archie vs. Predator, and Godzilla In Hell.

Oh, and Luther Strode.

The series had a lot of flaws but justice league dark #18 was great

You mean the ms marvel who's character was completely destroyed to make her into marvels wonder women.

Although if your talking about kamala I will agree with you there it is a great comic.

Still not the only good one though

>Sup Forumsmblr

The disgustingly horrible cgi poser shit makes it unreadable trash.

And proud. Fuck off, Sup Forums.

this had great art

>If your not a Muslim hating Sup Forumsack your tumblr

I will freely admit that marvel has ruined a hell of a lot in there drive for diversity but kamala is not one of those things

I will admit the art was a little off

>DC, the thread

I'm not complaining. This is the kind of stuff that the Disney overlords seem even less likely to encourage.

But of course. There will always be non Big Two gold out there that I probably don't remember or haven't read.

>Ultra Comics #1
As far as capeshit, and opinions that I'm not worried about justifying, that's my vote.
It wasn't exciting, but it had layers that you could peel back if you wanted to.

And Doug Mahnke was 10/10.

It's been a while since I read it, but anything in Dial H after the introduction of Centipede is golden.

Dident dial h have some godawful prostitute issue or something.

Like that issue with the Babylonian chick who had a 'hero-sundail,' that had nothing to do with Nelson and Roxie?

An earlier comic with the hero dial where a guy loses it and is stuck as a female hero and is a stripper for lack of identification and the inability to get a real job?

I don't know what you're talking about.

That second one you said I dident realise it was an old one.

I for one am glad that we are using Sup Forumsmblr just like the SJWs, we are empowering ourselves using the insult they created for us

Arsene Schrauwen
Here

This is going to sound way more smug than I mean it but I feel kinda bummed for the people whose favorite comic of 7 years of time comes from Marvel or DC.

Two amazing answers, that I am bummed I forgot.

kill yourself

this is a strong contender

I'm a huge mignolaverse fag but Abe's solo title has been one of the weakest of the bunch. Art is still amazing though

It isn't smug if you said "best" comic, but harping on someone's "favorite" is incessantly smug.

The garden was amazing, story and art

I do not think anyone is lying, I merely think of the amount of work out there that has been released in that time frame.

(It is no ones fault obviously what they can and can not get to read or choose to read)

...

>Memenderfags getting triggered
You do realize all his books are carried by solid art right? Not that he can use those artist to their full potential. I enjoy his work with self awareness.

>muh incessant poser meme
Please kill yourself

Hellboy in Hell.

Just read Pax Americana

Good stuff boys, thank you.

If I'm pretty new to DC, will I enjoy/understand Multiversity?

Or do I need to have some extensive knowledge of the DC universe and all that jazz?

A solid understanding of the DC multiverse AND jazz would help, but it's not required to enjoy the ride.

It was like a complete return to form for a character I had nearly given up on. The fact that they also brought back fucking H.A.R.D. Corps was killer

>Nijigahara Holograph
that came out over 10 years ago, you imbecile.

Genuine question, have you read King's Omega men or Sheriff of Babylon?

You need a modest understanding about DC, but what you really need to understand is Morrison.

Yeah but it was recently translated.

I don't think even Morrison understands morrison

Archie vs. Predator doesn't stand up with those other comics. Fuck, it wasn't even the best Archie horror book this decade.

Not him but I put Vision at the top of King's work. While I love the first issues of Sheriff Vision is almost completed so it's an easier comic to make grand statements about. Omega Men is fantastic but I think it suffers from King's habit of over-compression which makes a lot of the emotional moments feel unearned. Vision on the other hand doesn't have as much interesting things going on with the art (or at least not overtly enough for me to notice) but I enjoy its slower pace and constant use of Marvel history to flesh out characters and plot.

No it was translated a long time ago.

>Toshinori All Might

Absolutely digusting, even Shimura was better and we all know how that all went.

This is what characterfags actually believe!

My War Gone By, Moon Knight by Warren Ellis and The Goon: Once upon a Hard Time are all contenders imo.

My best single issues:
Darkseid War: Green Lantern
Pax Americana
Swamp Thing vol 2 Annual 2

>Two amazing answers, that I am bummed I forgot.
I also heard good things about the most recent Zak Sally's Recidivist.

i nominate that dark knight returns last crusade book

Why though? It's pretty good, but it's nothing compared to The Dark Knight Returns.
