Do people actually think this is a good movie? Why can't Americans get this right?

Still better than most of the shit Takao Okawara and Kazuki Omori (except biollante that was kino) directed/wrote

>implying japan god it right with the new one

WEW FUCKING LAD i too love my googly eye monsters

Critical acclaim, seven Japanese Academy Awards, and its massive success at domestic box office (most successful Japanese Godzilla since the 60s) strongly suggests they got it right.

>box office success
Look I'm not that guy and I actually loved shin, but box office doesn't mean much, I mean, fucking Godzilla vs Mothra (1992) was he highest grossing Japanese Godzilla movie till shin, fucking 1993

...

i was so damn hyped and let down. in the exact same vein as no man's sky. it has some great elements, but it's such a shitty movie.

Of course I know box office alone isn't an indicator of quality. Which is why I included the other two points.

At that point Mothra hadn't been seen in over twenty years. Audiences were hyped to see her again. She is Toho's second most popular monster. The love for her character secured her a trilogy of solo films back in the 90s.

godzilla himself was fine.

the problem was the protag was a generic douche no one cared about. and he got all the screen time.

Weeell, it's a okay effort like the grindhouse flick. It's my personal opinion that the more you go back on the years of Godzilla filmography, the more you can find good ones. I especially like the original, user.

outside of the godzilla fight scenes it was literally a b-movie, couldn't believe how shitty it was

Even japs took a page from the US in terms of design

if you didn't zoom in, his head and the right hand look like he is opening his mouth really wide

It wasn't really bad, it just wasn't good. They somehow made a boring Godzilla movie. Pacific Rim was much better.

I used to think this was funny. Now it disgusts me. What happened?

Maybe you've moved on from juvenile humor. Or like me, you're just disappointed one of those isn't taking the place of the shower head.

Its one of those hose heads too. For all those hard to reach places. You know what I'm thinking.

Two hour Godzilla movie with five minutes of Godzilla. That movie is a steaming pile of shit.

It would've been better if the protagonist wasn't such a boring faggot with a stupid family. The action was ok but there wasn't enough of it and it was sometimes too dark. Also, they shouldn't have killed off Bryan Cranston so early.

Hopefully the sequel is better.

...

if they would have killed off gi joe instead of Briand Cranston the movie could have had a much better arc. It was such a letdown having to watch kickass soldier boy the rest of the way

Yeah. Cranston and Watanabe should have teamed up. Would have been an awesome pairing. Also, switch the focus from Muto to Godzilla early on and give Godzilla a fight scene with the military.

I really liked Shin, although it dragged a little in the third act.
It's basically a Evangelion movie but with Godzilla. I have mixed feelings about the ost: while they were fitting, havin two tracks from the Evangelion ost playing was distracting.

I didn't mind the different versions of Decisive Battle. It was catchy and worked well with the film. But yeah, the third act could have been stronger.
