just got into MDE the other night because I religiously watch adult swim
I like a lot of their stuff but the biggest thing that jumps out at me is the fluctuating political allegiance. I suck at understanding comedy at more of surface level, so let me know if I'm missing their sarcasm or something.
The further back I go on the MDE youtube account, their views seem to be more liberal/anarchist oriented. Is this a parody of left wing views, or was this their original thinking and it changed over time? If it's their real thinking, how does one reconcile this with MDE's current stuff?
>Pic related, video from 6 years ago where they trash cops
The primary purpose of comedy must be comedy, not pushing a political agenda.
Anyone who says "We decided to spread awareness of _____ through comedy" is guaranteed to be fucking awful. I've seen many groups/comics like this and they always are.
Sam Hyde's political views show through in his comedy but that's not the point. Likely his views have evolved over the years as well.
Chase Hall
Sam supports Trump, but believes no one should be immune to comedy or satire etc.
Kevin Gutierrez
He's making fun of everyone.
Absolutely everyone.
He mocks life. He mocks our country. He mocks the population.
It's beautiful.
Nolan Bennett
Well I don't know how their new stuff will turn out, and I don't know them enough to say whether it'll be good in comparison, but in my post I was asking if anyone noticed they went from being liberal/anarchist minded to right wing, and if there was a particular cause or reason for this in yalls opinions.
Alright, now this makes sense. I'm a baked potato about comedy, just super basic super mind numbing stuff is ma fav. Some of this political comedy shit is difficult for me to grasp sometimes, I don't get all the references.
oh my god i haven't seen this yet, i love it. Okay, I can see how good they must be - I can see the point. Everyone is on the chopping block, we all sound ridiculous when you take a step back or amplify what we're saying.
Thank you, I think I was sorta looking for this kind of an answer. Everyone on here talks about how he is on the right wing side, but I'm not quuuuuitttteeeee seeing that.
Luke Howard
>The guy literally takes intermediate breaks in most of his stand up routines to scream FACT ZONE and then rattle off statistics about back crime rates or jewish family income amounts His political views don't just shine through, he specifically displays his political for the purpose of shocking the audience. A large portion of his schtick is to expose usually unwitting viewers to incredibly offensive or politically incorrect ideas.
