The idea of him training someone new wasn't a terrible idea. Especially if it's creed's son. But they went way too fucking serious with it.
Rocky was some weirdo blowhard who was essentially stalking a meek girl who clearly wasn't interested in him. He was always making jokes most people didn't laugh at. The new movie didn't have that weird feel to it. It was just a straight drama. Except for the parts with rocky.
