I came across that q2 fan edit of FWWM a while ago and downloaded it for later use.

I read left and right that if you're really interested in the series, you're actually supposed to watch the missing pieces separately.

is this true? Should I be looking for that? I don't mind watching a longer version of FWWM if it's well done.

It is well done, but it messes with the tone and pacing of the film for the sake of completionism.

If you've already watched FWWM, the fanedit is a good watch and probably a better companion to the series. FWWM is a far better standalone "film"
