So the superficial appeal is definetly there.

Her actual character is basically superficially very civilized, but underneath prone to violence and a bit bloodthirsty.
She knows what's right and wrong, but she likes killing despite that, so she indulges in that or rather doesn't restrain and object to it like she knows she should.

Add to that some romantic interests that have always ALWAYS been doomed to fail or tragic and you've got a character who is fairly easy on the eyes and is usually not particularly insufferable to have around.

Yeah, I think this is the issue. And her best written run so far (Remender's UXF) had her be a huge cunt so that didn't help her image at all.

Being a team telepath who isn't useless the second her mutant powers don't work on a bad guy. Now she even has telekinesis to boost her up, which is something I never really liked.

She has the potential to be very interesting and engaging if they just could be consistent with her. She is a great tragic character, someone who survived her death by stealing another's body (even though it wasn't her choice) and who's in danger of losing who she is. her connection to Captain Britain and Otherworld is also very interesting yet was written to be really dull by Remender. she's just underutilized in general, and you can tell a lot of writers have no clue what to do with her.

Dani's been depowered for ages and she's never been flagship roster material.

No Powergirl is likeable. Psylocke hasn't been that for like twenty years.

No-one ever liked her for her character, except a tiny, tiny handful of guys who read her in the 80s, and that character was effectively written out for the 90s bodyswap Kwannon stuff.

Her popularity came from being in the Jim Lee Blue Team line up and thus effectively eye candy. The ninja killer shit tapped into that vibe, and made her a character for teenagers to fap to.

That's pretty much it. Anyone that overly claims that iteration of her character as a great thing is either autism-X or secretly gay.

The X-Force run is the only sustained period of good work done with her.

She was good in MvC tho.
