They also explain the reasoning why Putin and Russia has been on a rearmament path. It's because the US with NATO are building up anti ballistic missile forces around Russia. One to secure Russia has more targets and not concentrate their nuclear and conventional cappabilities in just the US and NATO. Add to that that if they intercepta lot of the nukes Russia has while they're inside the atmosphere it's easier to survive a retaliatory strike while Russia a country that doesn't have the GDP of the US or Europe won't be able to. Thirdly to justify defense contracts and of course increasing the profit margin of defense industries.
Putin isn't a good guy but our side is fanning a slow path to WW3. That is the jist of what Oliver Stone is trying to portray. Not a light like he's perfect but for people to get a perspective behind the motives of the guy. He's a sociopath no doubt about it but he also cares deeply for his country and himself as part of that country.

Putin comes across as a smart guy who knows his political history and economics.
He makes out the US to be a big bully.
He makes a good point that the US intends to spend 600billion on defense, which is more than all other countries on earth combined, and for what purpose? Surely the tax payers would rather some of that to go to health, education, pensions, reducing poverty and so on? Inequality is so bad in the US, while Putin has significantly improved quality of life for many Russians, something like lifting 1/3 of the population out of poverty.

I don't think anyone realizes how lucky we all are. This includes Democrats and Republicans.
The globalist agenda was planning war between Russia and the United States. They started beating the war drum with Mitt Romney several years ago. Obama did his best to establish the theme, then Hillary pushed it hard during the election. She even had Tim Kaine doing it.
If Clinton had won she would have gone to war with Russia. It would have started with her "no fly zone" over Syria, and American troop involvement in the area. From there it would have escalated, and considering that both nations are a nuclear super power, I do not believe it would have ended well.
So be thankful to God that we didn't end up in the timeline where everyone dies in the nuclear hell fires.
