Jackie chan adventures

So after seeing a thread here I started watching this again and I forgot how awesome this show was.

I remember getting up every Saturday to watch the new episodes.

One more thing. Is Jade a Mary sue? I know she's not white but still.

One more thing! What's the best talisman? I think the rabbit (speed)

One more thing! Why were all the white characters assholes?

One more thing! Why can't Jackie Chan speak English well after being in America forever?

One more thing. Sup Forums has no taste. It's just waifu faggots and pedos obsessed with loud house

Jade is pretty fucking close to Wesley Crusher.

She's smart, somehow. She insists on getting in the way and helping and getting her way in all things and is more obnoxious. Although she sees herself as the team mascot or something.

Honestly, this show was so much better than it had any business being. When you think of a cartoon capitalizing on the fame of a celebrity not associated with animation, you don't actually expect a quality show to come out of it.

One more thing! This is about Jackie Chan Adventures, not the Loud House

Jade was downright insufferable, and is pretty damn close to the actual definition of a Mary Sue. Even as a kid, I found her to be the only real flaw in an otherwise great show. She was a worse Scrappy than Scrappy-Doo himself.

Also, there were white characters in the show? I really don't remember them at all. Not like it matters all that much though.

I remember getting a kick outta that Super Saiyan looking guy who would shout out all his attacks like an anime character. Don't remember much else. Prefered Static Shock and Mucha Lucha.

The bald guy whose name I can't remember.
I feel like Valmont was British or something too.

I fully agree. I think it's because jackie chan isn't famous from more than action movies so a cartoon about him didn't seem like he was selling out, more like he was just having fun.
Yea, alot of the times I just wanted her to shut up.
The guy with the red hair? Even when he wasn't fighting and he was fleeing he'd do it. Hilarious.

One more thing. I loved how tohru became a good guy.

How much was Jackie involved in the show? Just his face in the intro?

>that episode where Tohru almost disembowels Jade

Well he did voice his character and answer questions at the end of every episode.
I could barely understand him though.

I don't recall Baldman being an asshole.

Actually he didn't voice Animated Jackie, he said himself his english wasn't good enough for it. He did directly approve the guy they got though

Yeah, in fact his fame actually contributed to the show. His fighting style of using everything in the room as a weapon worked really well for the humor of the show, while him being known as a kind, almost fatherly person worked well for his relationship with Jade in the show.

Interestingly enough same voice actor for Jackie voiced monkey in the kung0fu panda show.

He didn't voice himself in the show, only appeared for the Q&A segments. Shame though, would have been pretty cool since a lot of other shows about a celebrity had them do the role themselves.

He would answer viewer questions in the end of each episode i have no idea how much he was involved in production tho

Jade didn't get her way and wasn't central enough for a traditional Mary Sue classification, but she did have some unfortunate Cool Kid tendencies.

She was also basically required as a character for the show to make any sense; Jackie is too cautious to get involved in most anything unless something or someone drags him by the ear into it. Kid character with a reckless streak was a classic solution.

Best Talisman is Pig

And Jackie's English isn't shit. He just has an incredibly thick accent from spending 20+ years in China.

Best talsman was dragon imo
If ur a waifu fag you probably like rat tho

Oh wow. My bad. I really thought he did. I guess atleast he realized he couldn't do it instead of trying and ruining the show with his broken English.
The fight scenes were some if my favorite parts. They seemed so sped up but rocked great for it regardless.
He also would pull shit that was ridiculous like spin while being held and flip around like no one's business.

But of course let's not forget the best character, uncle. Every line he said would crack me up.

Yea, Captain black was cool but every other white person was a dick except him. Especially the archeologists he they'd run into.

Props to wb for having multiple shows without white main characters. I'm white and I still respect the hell out of them for that and way before the sjw fad.

>One more thing. Is Jade a Mary sue? I know she's not white but still.
Eh, I'd lean on the side of yeah.

>One more thing! What's the best talisman? I think the rabbit (speed)
I'd put in an argument for dog. Immortality bitches!

>One more thing! Why were all the white characters assholes?
Like who? Captain Black was a pretty good guy. Valmont was a jerk, but he was a villain, and all his henchmen were like grey. Or asian.

>One more thing! Why can't Jackie Chan speak English well after being in America forever?
Is he actually from China (in the cartoon, I mean)? Many first generation immigrants never get the language down fully. I work with a few who've been here for decades and still have trouble with some english. It's hard learning a new language as an adult and english is a tough one at that.

>Is Jade a Mary sue?
She's the child appeal character.

>fist of the monkey who flies through the trees
>tiger pouncing on jackal running through plains
>dragon dancing on monkey who fights tiger in trees with banana in tail

>One more thing. Is Jade a Mary sue? I know she's not white but still.
What does race have to do with being a badly-written character?

What race was THE Mary Sue?

I really hope Jackie Chan makes another cartoon before he gets too old.

Then again, i wonder what a cartoon made by Bruce Lee would look like.

Cap Black is best Nick Fury,

Bruce Lee is too busy working for the Chinese fbi.

Does it matter? The character was created as a parody of self-inserts, not white people.

Wonder what kind of things he would yell in a porno.

>ALBINO HOLLER MONKEY AWKWARDLY PAINTS FENCE

Not that other user, just curious but whatever brah.

wait, mary sues cant be chinese?
in any case this was a good saturday morning cartoon i tell you what. it had some retarded parts, but only some.

he didnt voice the character. during that hot dog episode of king of the hill when the asian guy says "hah chump, you dont know who youre messing with: sounded like (animated) jackie chan. quick search after that i learned that it was a voice double

yeah and his henchmen were irish, brooklyn, and chinese. so.. basically all white people are evil.
the show takes place in san francisco so you cant really fault them

I often liked the bad guys better than the heroes, really.

>RABID SKUNK VIOLENTLY SPRAYS FEMALE IN FACE
>VENOMOUS SNAKE SPITS IN EYES

i kinda hate this studio and the way it draws a lot of shit, weird elbow-havin' faces, beak-ass noses, but.... the way they did hair was tops. jade, valmont, hak foo, uncle.. they looked awesome

>Props to wb for having multiple shows without white main characters. I'm white and I still respect the hell out of them for that and way before the sjw fad

That's what I loved about wb, they managed to do diversity right. Shows like Static Shock, Xiolin Showdown, JCA, and so on treated their characters as people rather than a quota. Sure, some of them were stereotypes, but it never defined who they were. They still had strengths and weaknesses and chances to grow as characters. Nowadays it feels like a lot people forget that when writing non-white characters. Miles Morales is a huge example of this. It's like Bendis wants to write a Static Shock comic(Mile's even has electric powers bow for fucks sake) while completely ignoring what made Static good in the first place.

uh.. i wouldn't exactly tout xiaolin "dumb chop-socky shit a british kid draws on his deviantart" showdown as a paragon of diversity
but yeah in general nothing ever felt forced or artificial. they never brought attention to their race or made everyone mexican just to pander to the majority

Horse is the best talisman, simply because it can cure almost anything.

Poison? Cured.
Disease? Cured.
Get your arm cut off? It grows back.

There was even a time when they were on a sinking ship and used it to "heal" the hull.

I wouldn't have forgiven her if not for a few aspects
1. hot as fuck
2. too little a kid to really understand what's going on, yet impressively competent for her age. genuine competence makes a major difference when it comes to characters like her who run the risk of being scrappy fucking doo by running into danger every 3 seconds
3. fiercely loyal to her uncles. she never mouthed off at 'em, never rankled under their authority, merely tried to help in whatever way she could and broke rules when she felt she could get away with it. and when tohru came in she immediately warmed up to the big lug. she wasnt a brat. brathood would have been UNforgivable.

Yea the horse talisman could fix anything.remrber the state that came to life? Lo pei.

The only flaw is they can be taken/fall off you/etc. I'd sow the good ones inti my body and toss he crap ones (sheep, tiger)

One more thing. If anyone downloads JCA please beware the order because most torrents don't have the organized right.

YU MO GUI GWAI FAI DI ZAO
youtube.com/watch?v=uf8FbHknyGI

>sew it into your body
>instantly heal over it
that could be dangerous

That'd be awesome. The biggest con to these talisman is that they're too easily lost. I'd sew them all into my body then heal up with the horse talisman.

This show made me realize than cartoons didn't have to be bad. I shipped Jackie with the latina girl hard as hell though.

viper was israeli
also, what? all cartoons until this one were bad?

first cartoon that had a statisfying plot, lore/mythos and characterization. all cartoons I watched before this were just slapstick gags. that's why I turned to anime but then K-On happened.

i mean, this very channel, nearly the same timeslot, had all kinds of other serious action cartoons. were you just really unlucky? i remember i often had trouble catching stuff as a kid because i just had no sense of scheduling

>i remember i often had trouble catching stuff as a kid because i just had no sense of scheduling
Now it's no longer your fault because the networks are the ones who have no sense of scheduling

haha yeah
but you cant really blame them either since people are migrating from tv
but it's safe to say they did that because tv got worse FIRST.

True
I personally haven't watched tv on years and just download everything instead. I assume most people do the same or atleast stream their shows.

only because i ran out of money. i'd get cable again if i started making money

Its not worth it senpai. You can always download new shows about an hour after airing and you can stream tv live if you can find it.
The only problem Is the packages cable providers offer. Is usually cheaper than just one on the long run.
Avoid Verizon too. They're way too expensive.

This used to be my favorite show but I rewatched the first season or so recently and found it disappointing. It all seems so cliche now, although the cliches were new to me at the time.

yeah but i feel like if i'm paying for SOMETHING it's okay to pirate the rest. it's not my fault theyve decided to divide entertainment up like fucking idiots and expect us to pay for big chunks of it

Did Jackie ever beat this guy in a fight?

>shitting on Xiolin Showdown

Nigga I will fight you.

Man, it always amazes me how little people know of how Jackie Chan actually is outside of the goofy persona he puts on. In Asia, people hate him because he's a government shill, a hardcore womanizer, and has disowned one of his kids.

You must be the life of the party

Don't get me wrong, I like the show but IRL Jackie Chan is an ass.

...

Shendu was GOAT. Things kind of got shaky during the Oni Mask arc. Demon chi arc was absolute dogshit though

I think the premise for it was good, it was just that Drago was such a fanfic tier character.

>and has disowned one of his kids.
Didn't that kid say he was going to live off Jackie's money when he died though?

>Demon chi arc was absolute dogshit though
If you mean the last season with Shendu's son, I didn't even know the show was still running at that point and ended after the Oni Mask. It was only after I caught a re-run did I realize it it had still been going.

...

"I am you from the future, there is no time to explain."

I hated Jade too. If Jackie needed a sidekick that badly, they could have just made Tohru a good guy from day one.

I believe Jackie said he's gonna give all his money to charity when he dies, because if his son can't make his own money, then he doesn't deserve Jackie's.

uhh... all the time?
if you mean without talismans then eventually
iirc thats why he finally stooped to the dishonor of using them himself rarely

"What? Paco will be my first one?"

"yeah. In about a year."

>I know she's not white but still.
You definitely don't have to be white to be a Mary Sue.

Valmont is a typically French name.

>he's a government shill
Don't really care, and it's probably a good career move on his part.
>a hardcore womanizer
Good for him.
>and has disowned one of his kids.
Celebrity kids are brats who don't deserve the money they get.

Anyway who gives a shit about his personal life, he's an actor, not a humanitarian.

"Where?"
"How?"

...

...

>and has disowned one of his kids.
Neglectful farther? He really was a big influence for Goku.

That always stuck out to me. Season two onward they try to paint Tohru as a good boy who just got caught up in the wrong crowd, but he had no hesitation about cutting open a kid.

HIYAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!! YOU ARE SO WRONG JACKIE!!

ONE MORE THING, YOU ARE A COMPLETE FAGGOT.

Motherfucker, I thought I recognized that voice from somewhere.

His kid is a giant fucking asshole who had multiple chances to get his shit together and all other points doesn't mean he's an asshole.

Sheep makes you invisible, intangible and being able to fly and enter on people's dreams AND see spirits.

Also, if you use it in other people, YOU CAN TAKE OVER THEIR BODY.

It is the PERFECT tool for a spy. You could literally win wars with it, and I don't even know what the fuck would you be able to do on other people dreams.

Tiger is shit tho. Anyone can think in a good use? Making your enemies allies?

>womanizer
Based Jack
>desowed his son
His son is an asshole that spend all his money on drugs. Considering all the shit that Jack had to deal on China when he was young because of gangs, I can see his desapointment.

Hes a great martial artist and actor plus im 99% sure you dont know jackie chan irl

I do the same shit if i pirate something i really like i buy some merch from the website or some shit

>Tiger is shit tho. Anyone can think in a good use? Making your enemies allies?
It only did that because it broke in its introductory episode. It's actually for balance and ties all the other talismans together. Alternatively, you could use it to double the size of an army. It's also easy to manipulate anyone who's pure good/evil.

His son was a douchebag loser who went to prison and when he got out Jackie decided he's fallen hard enough and welcomed him back in his life.

>Tiger is shit tho
It makes you impossible to knock over, so that's something!

>What's the best talisman?
For what? This reality or the reality of the show?

Because Dragon and Pig are pretty sweet if you actually need to fight people, less so if you're living that nichijou.

>best
Probably Rat.

Create genie, bring genie to life, wish for whatever.

Snake would also be a personal choice, but if I used Rat to make something that could grant powers/wishes, I could just get invisibility anyway.

>Why can't Jackie Chan speak English well after being in America forever?

Jackie literally learned English by listening to music and reading newspapers, with little to no formal training. When the point comes where your English is fluent enough to understand and carry conversation, there's not much else to brush up on if you don't necessarily need to. He's gotten by pretty well after this long, and English is incredibly difficult to learn from top to bottom regardless.

Its not physical balance only spiritual i think uncle says it tp jade

He's not in the United States for long. When he did a movie he'd come to film it and then leave. Same with Jackie Chan adventures. He prefers his homeland where he's a megacelebrity over the United States.

Sheep is underrated.

Remember the Clone-inator?

>

>This is coming from someone who hasn't watch the show

Oni mask arc had a lot of awesome character stuff. Demon chi was just kind of bad.
