>thread is not explicitly about HBO's Rome but includes inferior properties such as Gladiator or I, Clavdivs
>OP uses "kino"
No thanks.
I Claudius
He refuses to meme me.
what was his problem tho?
kek
after carthage fell his retarded fambly had nothing to complain about anymore
This. Rome and Spartacus are the only TRVE ROMAN CINOS.
Pic related had so much potential but Stone somehow managed to completely fuck it up
>Spartacus comparable in any way to I, Clavdivs
100% plebeian opinion.
>True Roman thread for true Romans
>Posts macedonian flick.
You bring shame to the house of Anonymvs.
All true Romans were massively autistic Alexander fanboys tho
how did "romans" get away with just lifting literally all of greek culture including their gods and traditions and claiming it as their own???
they even spoke greek ffs, what a lot of poseurs
they knew how to conquer plus less boy-fuckery
WE WUZ TROYAN N SHIT
>lifting literally all of greek culture including their gods and traditions and claiming it as their own???
sigh. The cultures of Roman and Greece are similar in a number of ways and a good portion of the Roman upper class were Hellenophiles but there still two entirely different things. All the parallels between their pantheons were just the Romans trying to translate their respective beliefs and figure out what others worshipped.
>but there still
stopped reading "there"
>they even spoke greek ffs
Only the upper class, just like people today speak latin to be "superior"
Oh it's one grammar mistake and I've had like 4 hours of sleep.
>Only the upper class, just like people today speak latin to be "superior"
Greek wasn't a dead langage back then. It was very popular through the empire and helped spreading christiannity.
>just like people today speak latin to be "superior"
More like French in the 17th/18th century and English today.
Like, tubular, amice meus.
The Golden Age of Hollywood produced a lot of great Roman kino.
Carthaginius Redditus, please abscond
reddito delenda est
>2017
>Still no Marius and Sulla movie
>still no Catiline Conspiracy movie
rident stolidi sita reddita
>Punic Wars play
>"Non est me" starts playing
Why do they keep getting away with this?
1. Diocletian
2. Augustus
3. Aurelian
4. Marcus Aurelius
5. Vespasian
We can all agree on this, right?
>Leave mythcino to me
>Diocletian
But all those Christians
Also Vespasian is the most based
>No workplace sitcom focusing on Cicero during his lawyer days
1. Augustus
2. Aurelian
3. Marcus Aurelius
4. Hadrian
5. Valentinian I
Fixed.
>Spartacus
Spartacus was fun, but it in no way compares to Rome.
Where is Hadrian?
he was a fag
>Take that you fucking barbarian!
Woah, Raiminius went too far in his most recent play.
That's my puer
What's your point?
6. Hadrian
7. Antoninus Pius
8. Theodosius
9. Domitian
10. Valentinian
your a fag to
>tfw no amica
Putting Diocletian at the top of your list but even considering Theodosius the """""Great""""" is unforgivable.
And what are you going to do about it?
Putting Diocletian at the top of the list was bad enough*
This is THE best Roman kino.
Nothing else even comes close.
Superior historic kino incoming

>"The numidians, the marcomanii, the parthians...on The Day of the Cross they shall all be nailed to the elm. We will have all Judeans dead or in chains in the next ten years, and if I'm wrong may Jupiter Optimus Maximus have me stabbed to death by 60 senators this very morning. May all the Gods bless the Populares."

Visigoths welcome!
romanes eunt domus
bonus post
Now write that down a hundred times or I'll cut off your bollocks!
>oh, you're sad because you got tricked into fucking your own sister? Octavian, when I was your age, I left my domus to get captured by pirates in some shithole in the Mediterranean. Don't tell me you have it hard because you're a pathetic incestuous manlet. You can act sad when you have to leave behind Nicomedes IV the lady-boy you fell in love with in Bithynia and made passionate steamy love to in a barbarian oriental Anatolian palace, just like I did. You think I felt good about genociding a third of the entire population of Gaul and getting Pompey killed? Shame. He was a Consul of Rome! You know what? Fuck you. Get the fuck out of my curia.
Centurion Vorenus...Look at the fucking state of you
>mfw someone says Spartacus is better than Rome
Wow, this is next level.
...
10/10, keked hearilty
>Myself, I just call it as I see it: the responsibility of the optimates to discipline the plebeians.
Caesar was populare like you later correctly said so I doubt he'd accept die hard patricians shitting on his power crowd.
826 wasn't 10/10 and wasn't even 3/10, don't lump it with
TOMORROW AT THE FOURTH HOUR A TRUE ROMAN THREAD WILL BE CREATED FOR TRUE ROMAN PATRICIANS UNDER TERMS OF TRUCE, AND IN THE SPIRIT OF UNITY AND MEMEAGE.

Why do so many people hate adult Octavian? I agree that the younger one was much better but the older one wasn't exactly that bad. He had a few good scenes too, like the dinner scene with Antony.
i did't hate him, true i liked the young one better but the overall performance left little to be desired
...
>Nos have coepi ignis
Hadrian will NEVER bvild a wall. Hadriantards btfo
Fuck Hadriumph and FUCK ROMAN PEOPLE
Majorian is a pretty uniquely tragic figure in Roman history and I'm amazed nobody has made any sort of media about him
>says increasingly nervous Pict chieftain for the XI time
Casting for the HBO remake of CLaudius announced
imdb.com
He deserved to live in a better time. Fuck Ricimer, that utterly despicable treacherous cunt
>Eva Green as Messalina
Absolutely patrician taste
Do you really want to see Hollywood's attempt at Late Roman equipment?
Kek
Majorian's only mistake was trusting Ricimer to not give in to his savage G*rmanic instincts and betray him for absolutely no benefit.
Frog and the Scorpion, man.
>Set in 475 A.D
>Army of semi-naked blue painted Ostrogoths besieging Rome
>Breach the walls by launching fire pots from trebuchets at the city
>Roman general dressed in full lorica segmentata: "Centurions, form testudo!"
>Final battle ends with a 1v1 duel between Emperor Romulus Augustus and Odoacer on the roof of St. Peter's Basicila
...
I liked adult Octavian too. I think the rapid character change and time shift just was too jarring for some, and everyone wishes they could have had watched Octavian grow into the leader he became. But it's very understandable why they couldn't happen
Missing Claudius
