But I went to go eat and watched CNN today and the only stories I saw were 3 straight anti- Trump stories and they brought on the Khan guy to talk about the purple heart.
I didn't see Trump do anything different compared to what he has been doing all campaign, the difference is that the media has non stop constantly hammered Trump on these things. For example a veteran who supports Trump hands Trump a purple heart and the media finds a way to hammer him on that. Trump calls to throw people out of the crowd like he always did, and the media finds a way to hammer him on it. Trump calls out Khan and the media only shows Khan in a positive light and doesn't mention that Hilary voted for the Iraq war. Just the other day news headlines come out of Trump wants to ban porn, although it's from him signing against CP and pictures of his wife come out.
It's like the DNC was waiting until after their convention to up the endless amount of shilling. Get used to this, because it's going to probably be like this until the election. The question is, are the average dumb American voter going to fall for this, or will they eventually become oversaturated with the anti-Trump media shilling constantly and vote for him just because this has became so blatant.

On top of that, he just loves the adoration, so talking and having people cheer was fun and made him feel good. Sure having your name on giant building was one kind of boost of the ego, but having crowds of people chanting and yelling, while you control them from the stage, now that is a powerful feeling.
Unfortunately for him, he was instantly popular and never had anybody even come close to passing him, so he ended up coasting on his fame to the nomination, not that he didn't try to sabotage himself a couple times with statements that would have sunk any other campaign for good. Now he is the nominee, and once he slightly past Clinton in the polls it all started to sink in. He doesn't want to be president, but winning is a real possibility. He's panicking. He wants out. What would you do if you were in his shoes? He is too proud to ever admit that he didn't want to win. That would be the scandal of scandals and would make him look like the biggest loser and phoney ever. So you commit to self-sabotaging so bad you can't recover from it, thinking 'well at least there's still time for the party to swap somebody else out'. Really what else can you do?
