JSA Storytime: Punisher 2099

Good evening owls of Sup Forums,

awww yeah

FUCK YEAH IT'S LADY TIME

i haven't been reading the last few threads but just hanging out, this seems like a good jumping back on point

let's read one or two before "oh shit, I'm on deadline, I forgot" takes over

...

>This is 2099
Is Pat Mills a prophet?

yes

oh shit, unexpected robot feels

There is nothing not awesome about this page.

the Shoulder Pads turning into the eyes is such a great design

eye boobs, too

move on over, Bitch Planet!

Punny 2099 is a hot babe now? This is a positive development.

Punishment is SEXY.

Avengers word search!

we already had Jake's sex dungeon so Mills knew he had to bring his A-game and level up

A REEALLY Hot Babe. Burning Hot. Melted Steel Beams Hot.

You don't get to tell him how he Identifies, you dirty robit.

You need to learn to respect people Vengence Identities.

Also, 2 issues is better than none.

Such a wild cover lol.

For bonus points, find all thirty heroes in current publications!

Nah, Feminism has been pulling "It's [year]" since like the 70s.

...

>Sup Forums breaks out in cold sweats

This comic actually turned out to be so much better than I expected. Like it has this goofy appeal, but it's also actually just good.

No, Jake's going to lose his new robo-girlfriend, just like he lost his human girlfriend!

I'm assuming this detente will eventually naturally turn into insatiable robosexuality

EXTREME PUNISHMENT

truly the hero that Sup Forums deserves

Jesus Christ, this has just plain broken my waifu meter.

It's amazing what basic competence can do, in addition to a thought-out POV that's not just "throw it at the wall and see what sticks" (which is what Spider-Gwen kind of strikes me as)

...

...

;____;

What impresses me is it gets better. I feel like it's gotten consistently more interesting and more well-executed as it has gone on. And stuff has been built on, it's a little snippet of a whole world. A crazy 90s extreme punishment world, but still a whole world for all that.

So OP, how's pupper dealing with the Fourth of July fireworks?

we /blade runner/ now

it's been pretty quiet around here, although I think he heard some when I had him out on the lead last night and that sparked some anxiety. Will just keep him in as much as possible on the 4th proper.

I am being serious when I say the Bulletin solicitation box is one of the funnest parts of reading this run (thank god for scans)

For instance- Hey look, Nightwatch #5, Marvel's barely palette swapped Spawn.
Blaze #1! Because it's the early 90s and Ghost Rider/Midnight Sons is THE HOTTEST SHIT. So hot Blade got his first titular series as spinoff.
Barbie- Almost into her FIFTH year of having a Marvel book being cosold next to Bill Shatner's Tekwar.

Goldheart was a bro.

he insisted that the cable guy who came by today stop and pet him, of course.

I really do prize scans for older material because of stuff like that, and letters.

>I want your gold fillings

this book

Hey, I like this combo

I mean, not really. He just let that shopper die.

Only a handful of those names haven't been in anything recent, actually.

hey, can you fault her logic?

why haven't any comics bloggers taken this persona

"non-compliant" got nothin' on this

IIRC it gets cancelled just before they hand all of 2099 over to Ellis/Doom, and he keeps making supporting character appearances.

BTW did everybody else see that one user who reacted to Robbie Reyes getting casted on SHIELD by posting about how Netflix should totally do a Ghost Rider 2099 show?

Yeah he really ought to have called the guy an ambul-Oh who am I shitting, he probably couldn't anyway.

Have you MET the average 2099 civilian?

Probably deserved it.

Too bad it didn't work for Black Cat.

Stop posting Saber, you're dead.

...

Sup Forums's perfect women.

I'm sure you could get KSD to come back and write this series.

how cute is Waifu Academy Felicia, damn

Never saw my body! As if a bunch of average civvies could take down a Red Dog with improvised weaponry!

Just finished delivering my speech, let them all wear themselves out, then got up and left before the Public Eye showed up.

That gun shape and placement...

If an ambulance were going to pick him up, then his chips would have called one for him.

He probably wasn't even a Gold Carder. Goldheart was just logically pointing out a corpse doesn't need a watch.

Having the console that close to the table and having no restraints seem like pretty major design flaws.

This is actually entirely plausible.

>It took me 20 minutes... New York
Isn't it called Nuevo York in 2099, or is that a different city?

Well, it's all designed to deal with entities that lack the cognitive capacity to even understand what it is, much less use it. That Vendetta was even able to do either was only because of a series of coincidental incidents.

OP, you wouldn't happen to have ever worked in a book store?

>comics bloggers
>reading comics that came out before 2011

remember that one Katehunter cover?

>Have you MET the average Marvel civilian?
>Probably deserved it.
Fixed

no, but I've been a library grunt

Man they hung out for all of one day. Jake really goes all-in on his emotions.

>>reading comics that came out before 2011

I mean, really, do people not realize how irredeemably male everything was before then?

PLEASE tell me the bike gets coated in gold.

>Black Cat's in Avengers Academy
Don't say that, you'll make me want to get the app.

It seems like a major design flaw to design your mining droids as beautiful woman whose strength can be increased to superhuman levels along with a genius intellect and psychotic nature
.
tbqh

THIS. The Punisher and his sidekicks Vendetta and Goldheart the Motorcycle please.

>playing mobile shit
Wow, I knew you were a faggot OP but not this much

jake is sadly not down with that

just kicking ass

best girl making the grindfest worth it

it's not like I pay for it

>that piece of paper

awww

Between this and Blitzspear Pat Mills may have the oddly specific praise of being the best creator of sentient mounts in comic books.

Different settings for different not-quite-Replicants?

Actually it gets cancelled just before Ellis leaves Doom. During that span, the One Nation Under Doom stuff, Punisher becomes an Agent of Shield and things are... not as good as they were as I remember.

we're fucking off to something else as soon as Mills leaves

It's a bizarre question that I only asked because several years ago I had a lengthy conversation with a bookstore clerk about the JSA, and I happened to be in that store again today and remembered it.

Not that I'd think you're the only other person in the state who is a JSA fan. At least I hope not.

From the 90's through to around 2010 it was aimed squarely at 40 year old continuity obsessed social rejects, I have to say. Remember all the SEXIEST CHICKS IN COMICS articles magazines would do like every month?

desu I don't know squat about the game but I'd put money into any part that involves Zemo or other characters that don't see enough love just to tell Marvel I want more.

It's the origins of Heat Vision and Jack

I very much miss going to the flagship Half Price Books, especially when they had 50 CENT WEDNESDAY, sigh

Helmut is in it

and the writers are pretty deep nerds about Marvel continuity

Oh no, Tom Morgan is done!

I hope NEW GUY provides as much gloriously fitting madman faces.

Zemo is too expensive to do that, just buy a trade

>twenty (20) fucking dollars

There's still one back where my parents live, but over the years I've slowly sucked it dry of all the DC stuff.

This ought to have had a Dredd crossover.

we even more 90s now

Don't even go to non-secondhand bookstores anymore desu

2000AD has never crossed over with Marvel, only DC, Dark Horse and Doctor Who.

>Comic books- STILL your best entertainment value

I wish this were still true.

Anyone know what that Tom Morgan mystery project they're hinting at is?

e-format and my total lack of space and desire to have less clutter have cut hard into my physical purchases

Nope, how do I google it?

>Remember all the SEXIEST CHICKS IN COMICS articles magazines would do like every month?

Most of Wizard's staff wished they were working at Maxim, let's be honest.

>books are twice as expensive as even new copies on Amazon
>idiots have already used the store as their personal library and fucked up all the books
>still don't even price match

Yeah, fuck book stores. Half-Price rules and local used books stores are literally the best place to find impossible-to-get out of print stuff for peanuts.

>I don't enjoy my work

Oh come on, Jake/Pun-Pun. That is BULLLLLLLLshit.

I could post panels.

Lots of panels.

What a shame. There could be some good crossovers there.

Oh man, I just remembered saying the only thing that'd make Jake's crazy bike better would be if it could move remotely and talk.

AND NOW IT CAN!

Yeah, this art'll do for 2099.

I don't want to buy all my shit from Amazon, but the saving is incomparable. Plus my local non-secondhand bookstore has become a nest of hipsters - and it doesn't even have as good a selection, or stock refreshed as regularly, as the thrift one.

>I don't enjoy my work
Jake...
