Think of all the technological advancement that has occurred since 10,000 BC. All the way back in the caves, till now.

All of that.....put together.....is a smaller leap than the revolution that would be required to actually make deep space travel (by which I mean actually going to another solar system to start long-term colonies) possible. The furthest that any man has ever gone is to the moon, and that's the cosmic equivalent of getting out of bed, stretching, and then going back to bed.

It's okay within the solar system... but the closest star to our sun is 4 light years away. So even if you travelled a hundred thousand miles per hour, which is impossible, it would still take a thousand years to get there. And I did the math in my head so I might have fucked up, but if anything, it would take longer.
