Honestly I don't find that true even here in Italy. The truth is that to really integrate one has to do a conscious effort to whitewash oneself. Unless one does that, one will always look weird to whites simply because you still have something off, namely your parents' heritage.

I guess in Canada it's different since you don't really have an autoctonous culture, but here in Europe non-europeans that fully embrace italian culture integrate pretty well IMO.

I am not a very social guy, but all of friends I made who were genuinely cool and loyal friends were foreigners.

I had white friends obviously, but they all are/were pretty shitty friends and we basically just all used each other for various things. Outside of that the friendships were non-existent on a personal level.

i live in the western portion of the inland empire (right on the LA county line) in an upper middle class suburb and the school i went to was around 75% white, .05% black, and the rest asian and latino. although, when i say 75% white, i'm also counting a small amount of really anglo looking people with spanish surnames. it's weird as fuck because upper middle class whites and hispanics here are kind of assimilating with each other and it was always seen as normal. i think it has a lot to do with social class. the darker skinned latinos kind of just do their own thing and i've seen them express racism towards black people (even though we barely fucking have any lol).
