I'm an 8 or so. I think some of this has to do with aging and maturity as well. The natural path is to progress into a 10 by prime male age which is 35-45 (?). Some people don't make it past 1 and some get stuck at 5 or 6. Though, I believe with continued exposure to strong and holy belief systems and values one will naturally progress to 9 or 10 if not halted by some sort of bullshit.

But now that the left is in power, their tune has completely changed; "hate speech" must be suppressed at all costs.

I think that it is unrealistic to imagine that the elites of any political or cultural paradigm can avoid engaging in some consensus building by censoring dissenting opinions.
