It really wasnt, the entire concept of Jumanji is that it was a coming of age tale.

The boy was becoming a man, he had to learn how to take responsibility for his actions and how to face his father as an equal, not as a child.

That is the story, the board game was just a mechanism to show the viewer his struggle. hell most people dont even know that the hunter was his father.

This is just 4 teenagers with attitude fighting a video game, and itll have about 5 minutes of exposition that will attempt to trick the viewer into believing anything in the movie was heartfelt.
