being unique means people will remember it for being unusual
for example: seicheles, I don't even know how to write the name right and yet their flag makes it easy to remember they exist.

african flags, in particular, suffer from being all the same. completely unremarkable tricoleurs (at least rwanda no longer has pic related as their flag)
