ITT: we discuss how Katie Leth is going to ruin the comic book character Jubilee in the comics book aka Hellcat.

She already said she wanted Jubilee because she is a teen mom so it isn't even like we will be getting rid of fucking shogo

Was sperging out on Twitter seriously not enough for you?

Hellcat is barely canon. Nothing that happens in it matters. Just ignore it and move on.

side cut and witty girl power sleeve tatoo. the whole "we can do it" meme is referenced at least once because she's a strong girl now.
bonus points : She always hated Logan.

>only one person on Sup Forums is mad about this

I'm slightly annoyed about it but eh everything X-Men is terrible now.

I read it yesterday and it's not so bad. It's sort of in a side universe with Squirrel Girl.

Honestly, we had Ultimate Marvel, we had MAX, we have the Marvel Universe universe - why not another one?

Perhaps they'll give us another adult imprint in a few years. Marvel-X.

> Jubilee is a teenage mom
Who did she fuck?

She stole a baby.

You're kidding me!
Why would she do that?

Because Brian Wood is a creep. Originally he wanted her to get knocked up by some random (yes, as a vampire), but Marvel said no.

Because reasons.

I think what happened was somebody fucked up a hospital, Jubes grabbed a kid out of the ruins and is raising it now. Might've been in China, they don't give a shit about children over there.

Is Jubilee still stuck in the X-Men books/X-Men universe, or is her being a vampire allowing her to escape that clusterfuck and join the rest of Marvel's clusterfuck?

>ruin
>in an all-ages comic every other writer ignores
>with a character that hasn't been relevant in a decade

call me when kate leth is actually going back in time and altering all the classic Jubes stories.

why didn't you just make a thread about how much you like jubilee, OP?

Is she still a vampire?

so jubilee lost her powers and became a vampire

does she still count as a mutant? can she still catch m-pox from the t-cloud? would her vampire healing counteract the m-pox?

Jubes is a pure Virgin with a stolen baby

I think Shogo is born in Hungary.

You aren't retard user, you know answers already.

the Blade's daughter book got cancelled so no.

>Now that GenX got cancelled, most of them are going to die and be crucified on the X-men's law, for a lameass story beat, m'kay. But not Jubilee, since kids dig Jubilee, we might want to keep her around
>Hey, nobody really seems to want to use Jubilee, so let's depower her, we need casualties for this House of M thing.
>So, like people still kinda want to see Jubilee apparently, so how about we put her in a godawful concept of a New Warriors revival with tech powers?
>Okay, that was a bust, but what if we made her into a vampire? They're popular these days, right?
>Uh, people are not digging this whole vampire deal, so let's ignore all the things that technically would make her a vampire, and slap in a kidnapped baby she can carry around since Brian Wood wants to do this teen mom thing?

It's like Monkey Paw situation every single fucking time they've tried to do anything with Jubilee post Generation X getting cancelled.

In that case, one could also argue she saved said baby.

But then she went and took the baby into America, with documentation, and refuses to give it back.

I am still genuinely surprised they didn't have her regain her powers when she got turned so they could make endless 'sparkle vampire' jokes

give it back to who?

>tfw no vampire Jubilee, X-23 and Gambit adventures

To a family, whose house isn't attacked every other day by anti-mutant terrorists. Even his biological dad who was a supervillain would be a step up, or did he die? I forget.

so far limbo mansion has gone pretty good for not getting attacked by terrorists

Swap terrorists for demons and you're back at square one.

What book/issues did this shit happen in?

>1996
>jubilee is so massively important she headlines not one but 2 crossovers between marvel and DC

>2016
>jubilee is now a character in a book written by a web comic artist only 10,000 people read

She had her own book that got canceled because marvel tried to make it their own moe animes which was made even better by the fact it was a high school romance animes about a girl who was interested in neither high-school or romance

Maybe we'll luck out and Hellcat will get cancelled next.

They just need to make her X-23's sidekick and let Laura be her own character again. They both were at their best during their adventure together in X-23's book, it's just a shame that outside of that arc where she was trying to destroy the scent trigger, her book seemed really directionless.

Now Mahvel is too hung up on making Laura a generic strong girl Wolverine and forcing gimmicks when the writing and core concepts just don't work. Hence the Monkey Paw effect with Jubes and Laura's character development getting reset or swapped out every book.

I think they added Jubes with the hope character fags will actually buy hellcat now

>side kick
>not gf

Also at least they didn't let that one writer kill her off

THIIIIIIS

You think they could try a book centered around the one and only thing that actually worked.

Moe Jubilee totally works, but a HS setting at this stage? Madness.

so is this book just called X-23 (year of publication) ? it's been on my backlog for a while

2016 is time 1996 kids are grown up and work for Marvel.

Oh, I ship it, too. But wouldn't want it to come off forced. I'd rather it never happen than have it turn into ham-fisted pandering bullshit.

Yes, I don't remember what year the run started.

It has it's moments towards the middle but then she was doing boring shit like hanging out with the Fantastic Four so it got cancelled. It probably also didn't help that the best part of the series had some of the worst cover art which really doesn't help bring in new readers.

>neo/x23/
nope, it's fucked beyond repair now.

speaking of Laura ships

I like her when she's like this, trying to figure out what it is to be human, and navigate complex concepts of morality despite her past. Not afraid of pain or death, only afraid of what she might be, and what she's capable of. God damn that panel makes me want to give her a hug.

No it's not. One could easily write her as trying so hard to be the person others want her to be that she is loosing her sense of self, then have her go through an identity crisis and come out the other side a bit more recognizable as her own character, and having learned something about being human in the process.

I have a story idea in development that I might pitch to Marvel, but only if I can get good enough to do the art myself. Otherwise even if I convinced them to give me a chance they'd probably just kill it with bad artists. I'll post some of the practice art in the near future.

Jubilee is already a lame vampire baby napper, how much more ruined can she get?

She could become a slut like kitty

And receive the power creep stronk womyn treatment. It's bad enough when they power creep male characters to god mode, but when they do it with a woman and then politicize her narrative... ugh... just that much worse.

Could you stop making this thread?

Let's better celebrate that one more X-girl is out of the trainwreck called X-franchise

Seriously, if I were a fan of Jubilee, I would be rejoicing that she managed to avoid the future cleansing.

I'm fine with this compromise to maintain waifu purity.

Aren't the shitty webcomic books kind of their own side thing and not really canon?

I hate power creep of all kinds. It makes the characters much less fun. There is an every frame a painting video on YouTube about how in all of Jackie Chan's good films he always starts fights with a disadvantage and then has to deal with getting hit and feeling pain until he manages to finally overcome the bad guy and win the fight, and that is a big reason why his movies are so good.

It's one of the reasons why it's hard for people to write good superman stories. If you are a God, why do you need a story about winning a fight when it is a foregone conclusion before the book even starts.

Dark phoenix is a billion time better than the first phoenix saga and the hellfire club saga is so good because it was the xmen vs a God or vs some super powerful people. Instead of goddess grey solving all the problems

Fuck off Katy

yeah, the all-ages stuff is just there so parents have something family friendly to buy for their children. none of the other writers pay any attention to them

that's only a problem with asymmetrical power creep.

Henderson does affect the way other artists have to draw Squirrel Girl, though I'm actually fine with them enforcing a particular body type on at least one character and they should really apply those kinds of standards to everyone.

All of my this.

I remember a thread where some younger comic fan was asking why Wolverine was named Wolverine when there are stronger, bigger, faster animals. He didn't know that Logan originally wasn't the fastest, strongest, smartest, or most invincible... that he was like a Wolverine because he defeats his enemies by doggedly wearing them down through tireless pursuit and pure fucking aggression, fearlessly facing suffering and potential death to fight his way through whatever he's facing. Logan was a great character before power creep and retconning ruined him. What's fun about watching an immortal beat up bad guys without effort?

>there are people who live wolverine as a character, and have never read the issue where he cuts down the hellfire club after being thrown through the floor

I agree with that. I don't ever want to see this shit again.

>yfw off model porn where she has big tits and no fangs

At least this person actually hated Wolverine until I told him about classic Wolverine, and then he got super excited and was looking for a recommended reading list.

Honestly if you look at the fact that James Manlet is still dead and now we have Old Man Logan in 616, I think it's likely most Wolverine fans loved him for who he used to be, and most of us hated what he became. I don't think Muh Power Level Wolvie was as popular as writers at the time believed.

I don't mind no fangs because she wasn't always a vampire, but any art of her this off-model and it's like they may as well just make a new character and stop pretending this is Jubilee, because nostalgia isn't going to sell it.

I have mixed feelings for that chapter because Wolverine gets beaten up by some faggets wearing wigs and holding sticks. I know he rescues everyone but i wanted him to kick Shawn's ass, although impaling that fat guy through the fucking floor is pretty sweet too.

If I don't see the fangs I assume she is like 12, because they always use the pre gen x costume and she didn't turn 13 until gen x

It's one of the best issues of uncanny xmen ever.

The best part of that poster is that IIRC the girl who served as the model/inspiration for it didn't actually last all that long at the job. It was also not a piece of inspiring war propaganda but was, instead, a poster put up for a few weeks at one place to get women who were making helmet liners work harder.

Shut up, Kate.

X-23 sucks and she needs to stay as far away from her as possible.

It was written by Kirkman who tried to make it into a generic teen drama. It was announced as an ongoing and then quickly turned into a mini because of poor sales. It was complete shit, just like everything else Kirkman wrote at Marvel (or in general).

Aging of characters in Marvel is complicated as hell, honestly. If they draw her with a sexually mature body I can imagine she's legal, it's fucking fiction.

Casualfag here. Last I checked Jubilee was no longer a mutant and a vampire because they're obviously doing this shit with a dartboard. Anything else worth noting?

I hear teenage mom, and I'm not sure if you dudes are meming me.

X-23 has as much potential as any character. I didn't want to like her, ether, but that story in her prior self titled solo book really made me like her and see where writers could go with her if they weren't so bent on this Girl Wolverine bullshit. I guess it's easier for me to see both her and Daken's potential now that the market isn't dominated by Wolverine appearances. Debuting those two at a time when people were already getting fed up with Wolverine was a mistake.

Read the fucking thread, retard.

Hellcat will have a Civil War tie in so yes, no matter of much some autists want to convince others and themselves, they're canon.

It's not canon until other book references it.

>I hate power creep of all kinds
>I love when super hero starts at disadvantage then overcomes

That's how powercreep works man. If your hero is facing a new challenge equal to the shit he has already overcome you will think "Wait, hasn't he done this already? Why is it difficult this time? I thought he figured it out?"

So the new challenge has to be more difficult than the last. Again and again and again until your hero is now a god.

Which is fine. The problem is continuing a character for 20+ fucking years when they reached god levels 19 years ago.

No, powercreep isn't over coming obstacles or enemies, power creep is when a writer can't come up with a way for a character to beat another character, so he just increases the strength of their power or adds more powers. It's power level wank. They used to have multiple characters work together to find creative ways to beat powerful enemies, or use some plot device that only gives a temporary power up (though I'm still not a fan of that tactic). Now they write like their favorite character is their OC in a role playing game, and it's all about upping stats and adding abilities until that one character is maxed the fuck out. Maybe you can make that work for a short term series, but not for franchises.

>multiple characters work together
This... is kinda what I mean though.

We are talking about Jubilee in this thread. FUCKING. JUBILEE. It's the same cast for decades. Even if they worked together to solve new challenges how many can you do before writers HAVE to up the power of the bad guys so even the group can't deal with them. Not to mention you will run into the problem of individual's stories having challenges that could easily be over come by the group. In an "Why not just call the Avengers?" problem.

Surely people want to see new characters do new things.

I'm not really disagreeing with you. I just think that after such a long period of time powercreep is normal. Especially because they didn't play ahead AT ALL for any of these stories. They just think "this is what's happening and let's make a bad ass villian" so the longer the story goes on the more likely they will write themselves into a corner.

Which is why there are so many gorram reboots.

This is like I am a fan of one offs. Just tell the story you want with a single character and call it done.

Leth is comic cancer. Always has been. always will be.

by that logic, almost all of Sup Forums's favorite books would be not canon because they're never mentioned again.

Yeah. Well, I don't think so

I really like vampire Jubilee. Something about it just works.

It's both a blessing and a curse she get's used so rarely. On one hand, we don't get to see her nearly enough, and she and Laura will never be in lesbians in a duo. On the other, they get less chances to put her back into her status quo of being powerless or having a weird but pointless powerset, or worse.

>tfw Jubilee was your first super hero crush, and has given you a weakness for asians ever since.
