It has a rough first three/four episodes but after that it knows what it wants to do and does it quite well. Also the mystery gets solved in the first season, so no cheap sequel bait there.

Actually he was suppose to much more prominent in the early episodes, but a lot of his scenes got cut. If i remember correctly his romance with the teacher was suppose to go on for way longer and be much bigger in the series, but test audience absolutetly hated it, so they had to remove most of it and fill the show other scene.

so that's why his screentime is inconsistent and why he comes of as bit un-likeable, they had to scrap the whole orginal plan and figure out something else.

yeah the teacher plotline was absolutely terrible, what were they thinking? It was obvious that it wouldn't go well with the target audience and the actress was horrible too. After she's gone the show instantly gets better
