I still haven't seen inland empire. Gotta get on that.
What did you feel lost highway was about? Just saw it for the first time...
It's about being in love with an unfaithful, untrustworthy woman.
Mulholland Drive
Eraserhead
The Straight Story
Eraserhead
Fire Walk With Me
Mulholland Drive or Elephant Man, not sure
Eraserhead
Blue Velvet
Fire Walk with me
Fire walk with me is awful. Is this some kind of meme?
are you?
blue velvet
fire walk with me (plus most of twin peaks)
and Dune.
Yeah, I like dune, I honestly think it's his third best film, but I'm halfway through Mulhulland and might change my mind.
mulholland drive
inland empire
blue velvet
Fire walk with me and Dune, for real? Are you mentally challenged?
It's objectively better than Inland Empire, Lost Highway and Mulholland Drive.
These three and in that order
Fire Walk with me is s masterpiece. It was misunderstood when it came out but it's a great twin peaks film. So fuck right off.
Mullholand Dr is a fucking great movie man. Your mind might be changed.
Blue Velvet
The Straight Story
Mulholland Drive
I've never even heard of the straight story. Shit I have work to do.
Go watch it asap dude, it's amazing.
Blue Velvet
Lost Highway
Eraserhead
Though the first half of Wild at Heart is Lynch's best major work.
I think I'm going to do that right now.
Lost Highway over Mullholand Dr huh? I loved lost highway but perhaps because I saw Mullholand Dr first it just really stuck with me. And it's scary as fucking hell.
I watched Muldholland Dr first.
I didn't find it scary at all. In fact a lot of it is rather lighthearted/comedic than I was expecting. It has its good points, but I don't know why it's loved so much. I wish Lynch used Laura Harring more - it's a shame she seems to have been forgotten.
Lost Highway was a ride. With some funny moments you also had plenty of aggression and confusion. It had some moments that really stuck with me, for example
youtube.com
I wish I knew of more films that had a similar vibe/would make me feel the same way as that scene.
>Mullholand drive is advertised as a dark psycho-sexual thriller
>half of it is a comedy
Yeah lost highway was a ride. But I'd say the scene behind binkies and the end scene where pretty terrifying, at least to me. I think I also just had a blast piecing together what it was about.
Still a great movie though.
Fire Walk with Me
Premonition Following An Evil Deed
Inland Empire
>inb4 "shorts"
Premonition following an evil deed a short?
I'm surprised, not a lot of Elephant Man fans in here.
Just watched premonition following an evil deed. That was badass.
Are you saying you don't like it?
>why is there comedy in my drama?
do you even lynch?
This.
>why is half the dark psycho-sexual thriller a comedy
False advertising that gave me expectations, that the film failed to meet, and didn't do enough to make me enjoy the change.
Leave. Leave now, fool.
...
inland empire, sure
lost highway, maybe, but it's a matter of preference
mulholland drive, LOL wtf?
mulholland drive is the worst film of those three
it's not, have fun being a contrarian tho
Mulholland Drive
Lost Highway
FWWM
Mullholand Drive
Blue Velvet
Elephant Man
these and in this order
Blue Velvet (w/ the majority of the deleted scenes)
The Straight Story
The Elephant Man
Mulholland Drive
Fire Walk With me
Blue Velvet
in that order
Inland Empire is 2deep. Eraserhead just loses out to Blue Velvet
Every Lynch movie
God that fucking scene terrified me like nothing else ever has. I swear Lynch knew that he had made the scariest shit ever put on film since he kept on having the camera slowly meander around corners for the whole fucking movie. I couldn't relax because I was too scared that the hobo was going to show up again.
Even looking at a picture of her makes my stomach clench after watching that.
i got to do a presentation on Lost Highway back in uni. An insecure bill pullman murders his wife because he thinks/knows she's been unfaithful. He's arrested, and in the last moments before he's executed by the electric chair, he enters a fantasy world where he's young, virile, and he's the one doing the cucking instead of being the cuckee. The cyclical nature of the movie is more emblematic of the cycles of guilt pullman's char is stuck in before he is electrecuted, evidenced by the flashy finale as the law chases him down the highway as bright lights light up the scene.
Daily reminder than all this actresses have been through David Lynch´s casting couch, not one, but several times.
Aaahhh, good analysis. Thanks dude!
No, it's really not.
>the first half of Wild at Heart is Lynch's best
This
The Straight Story
Inland Empire
Mulholland Drive
I don't think it's awful but it's definitely not great. The first half was pretty boring but the second half made it worthwhile
Wild at Heart
Lost Highway
Mulholland Dr.
Need to finish Inland Empire
Fire Walk With Me
Eraserhead
Crazy Clown Time for dat high test
Are the people suggesting The Straight Story just doing it for le ebin memes?
It's a fine movie, but it doesn't hold a candle to the rest of his stuff sans Dune
Mulholland Dr.
Blue Velvet
Inland Empire
In that order.
>all these normies listing Fire Walk with Me
It's good, but it's Lynch's weakest film (of course ignoring Dune which Lynch disowned). It doesn't even stand on its own. As a standalone film it drops from being 8/10 to 4/10.
Eraserhead
Mulholland Drive
Blue Velvet
>As a standalone film it drops from being 8/10 to 4/10
good thing it wasn't made to be one then
This.
Just rewatched blue velvet. Fucking Masterpiece. 11/10
the enigma of female sexuality
...
wild at heart
inland empire
mulholland drive
Why? It's only a woman with shit smeared on her face. The fuck is scary about that lmao
I think this is a good selection. Mulholland Drive should be on every list, it's widely agreed to be a masterpiece and also typifies his work very well. INLAND EMPIRE is the culmination of his surrealism and horror aspects. It's a film that feels like Lynch made for himself and his die hard fans. The Straight Story is in many ways the opposite of INLAND EMPIRE, but still stands as a great example of what Lynch is all about. INLAND EMPIRE is the dark, dirty and surreal side of Lynch, and The Straight Story is the equally, if not more important part of his work that people often overlook when talking about him: the almost religious bright side of things, his appreciation for nature and Americana.
>My autism feels the need to capitalize inland empire every time
You're a retard. Have you not seen the movie and how the scene was presented?
Thats the way Lynch wants it written
...
Blue Velvet
Lost Highway
Fire Walk With Me
>people actually found this scary
>Mulholland Drive should be on every list, it's widely agreed to be a masterpiece
It's not like critics can be wrong - That's never happened with a Lynch film!
