Why do Americans do this?

Why do Americans do this?

force projection to keep those chinks and slavs in check

better us than them

why bother though?

We won a bunch of random islands in the Spanish Civil War along with the Philippines and Cuba. In World War 2, we won even more islands from Japan.

Though we eventually granted the Philippines independence, there are still a ton of islands that we still hold on to.

Once you climb to the top you gotta fight to stay there

We should change our name to the US of America and the Pacific

ffs, you don't even give the islands proper voting rights.

Peru, Chile, Colombia, Panama, Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras, and Canada are all in treaty alliance with USA

To stop communism from tainting the rest of the Pacific.

they dont have a big enough population to be admitted to the union as a state

Aside from Guam they're almost all unpopulated. They're mostly all reefs and deserted islands that only have value in a war. Then they can be turned into little depots, caches and airstrips- which most of them were before.

>disputed areas

i.e. areas claimed by China with no historical basis

Exactly. Most of that shit is either currently a bird sanctuary, an army base or a combination of the two. Really, I think that's better than if they were being developed on and polluted by an actual population.

Hawaii is in Oceania, and somehow they are part of the United States of America.

WHEN AMERICA FIRST AT HEAVEN'S COMMAND
AROSE FROM OUT THE AZURE MAIN

>implying
but we do

That's me!

>Pacific naval power, which fought half a world war over its naval power in the Pacific, has naval bases in the Pacific

>citizen of US
>cannot elect President

Neither can anyone in DC, and that's the capital.

They could officially be made counties of the State of Hawaii.

>Taiwan
>disputed
Only if you're a mainlander meme chinese.

Hawaii has 20x the population of Guam, which is the most populated by far

you need to be in a state to vote for POTUS, pajeet with minimal understanding of US law.

No, you don't.

They are part of the US, but can't participate in the democracy, henceforth they're living under a dictatorship.

US won this area from Japan.

You can add the disputed area between China and Korea to the map

Better the let the west control the world. Just look at how China treats its own country, people, and environment. All those people saying "can't wait for the China century" don't have a clue how good they have it now. The US isn't the best western country to do it though I agree. Perhaps a European one? Perhaps... Germany...

>Perhaps... Germany...
The Germany whose government hates its native population and systematically replaces it?

they dont pay most taxes because of this too

and they can vote if they move to a US state
