Serious question: why is Russia, Ukraine etc so corrupt? Every country has some corruption, but the difference between for example Poland or Czech Rep and Russia is still huge despite all the countries being in the soviet block, and Poland not really getting rid of people from the old system while having whole industries monopolized by few or sold out for pennies, just like in Russia. Why oligarchy in Russia is so much stronger and bigger than in Poland? Why it doesn't seem to decrease, or decreases much slower?
Serious question: why is Russia, Ukraine etc so corrupt? Every country has some corruption...
mongol influence
Ex-USSR/90s generation still rules the country.
And you haven't seen Central Asia yet.
I think Brazil and India are worse in terms of corruption, could be wrong though.
Also, any African shithole like Congo etc.
slav genes
but we are the least corrupted country in the world and we ARE mongols.
slavic countries are corrupt because they're slavs
I'm talking about mongol influence which goes back hundreds of years.
We have none of that, governing culture is pretty Swedish. That's why when Russia annexed us in 1809 we kept our laws and administration system, since it was light years head of Russian.
>Sweden
>not corrupt
haha nice joke
Did you read what I wrote? In Sweden there's no oligarchy which robs the nation's wealth and moves the money abroad.
You can't compare it Russia
Russia is fucked. Officially the worst country on earth.
>In Sweden there's no oligarchy which robs the nation's wealth and moves the money abroad.
No, in Sweden the government fucks its own people over and gives shelter to literal terrorists in literal royal houses and palaces (inb4 hurr pol - google this shit).
What about the controlled opposition and agenda ridden media? Jesus, there isn't just one type of corruption, did you know that?
Aren't you Finns supposed to have decent education systems? Did they not teach you any sort of political science at all while in school?
>corruption means only funneling money
Naive as fuck
Russia has less crime than Brazil in general, wtf are you talking about
There's corruption in every country one is denying that. It's way more rampart in Russia
Despite memes Sweden has way more freedoms than Russia. In Russia something like Sweden Democracts would've ever surfaced and grown to 2nd largest parties since in Russia the opposition is crushed before it gets any ground.
Income equality in minimal since there's no small groups of oligharcs robbing the country
There's corruption in every level than your average Ivan encounters it constantly in his daily life, while Sweden it's just high level inside deals or stuff like that.
You can't compare Sweden and Russia they're completely different planet when it comes to corruption
Explain. I know Mongolia is mostly plains and steppes but your postis too vague. During communism country was rushed into heavy industrialism for the price of many lives, but still they built fucktons of railroads, electric lines, housing, factories etc.
Poland didn't get rid of ex-PRL generation in government as well. Yes, they also monopolized whole industries, fucked everyone in the ass with no lube and held people in check with old documments. When I was a kid in 90s, I remember stories of being beaten up for few coins or cigarettes, all kinds of cars being stolen left and right, then as a teenager it was being beaten up for a phone and maybe only car radios were being stolen, now this kind of shit is rare and only in most shitty cities, and it feels like only exotic, very expensive cars are stolen in more "order" manner. Like hired assassin, but insetad of killing spcific person it's stealing specific kind of car.
Also I wouldn't compare Russia to fucking indians or nigs in africa or south america. There are much more differences. I'm more interested in more related groups, like nations within slavic group.
There is difference between having corrupt politicians who protect each other's ass, get some high end property or steal part of money for highways, and having corruption on almost every step of beurocracy and being able to bribe fair share of authorities, or people in general. Some people I know bought phone cards without registering their names in Ukraine just because they paid in foreign currency which thanks to exchange rate was like monthy salary for kiosk owner, and rather small sum for buyer. And the seller didn't make it look like it's anything new for him.
On top of that it's almost impossible to start a business in Russia. That's why the brain drain from Russia is a real problem. While country like Sweden is on top places in terms of ease of doing business.
It's always been this way. I don't know what happens when Putin with his mafia buddies decide to quit. Probably 3rd chechen war and the country will divide.
You have larger Mongol admixture than we do, yet Finland is arguably the least corrupt country on Earth.
Read
Not talking about the genes, but the influence which it brought to your culture
Corruption is nothing else but wealth inequality.
They are literally just the same thing. The more wealth inequality a country has, the more easy it is for wealthy people to buy the government.
Russia has always been very unequal. For example they were the last of the countries in Europe to ditch feudalism and when they did, they completely botched it and got communism and then immediately under communism they become unequal again.
Our country is just too large to properly manage. Honestly, we should give independence to all our ethnic minorities if they want it so much. We don’t need so much territory and it will be easier for us to govern ourselves on a smaller scale.
>Explain. I know Mongolia is mostly plains and steppes but your postis too vague.
The mongol shit is a meme. There are east asian countries (like jap and SK) that are much, much closer to mongols genetically than finns, russians and ukrainians that have next to no corruption.
Canada is also large, how do they manage?
I love Sverige now.
But the corruption in Sweden is going to destroy that country sooner rather than later.
We'll see how it fares in 10 to 20 years.
If Russia has a brain drain problem, Sweden will face a brain shrinkage problem.
From what you said, it seems like Ukraine and Poorland are not nearly as corrupt as we are lol.
but the population is much smaller, only 30 million compared to Russias's 110 someting? or 90 million, I don't remember.
Mongol culture in itself isn't overly corrupt either.
It's probably mostly due to tsarist despotism, which again is copied from Byzantium.
And still ten times smaller than russia
Sweden is one of the least corrupt countries on the planet. Not sure what the fuck you are talking about. You and your country are hardly an authority on this subject.
the answer is to eradicate the minorities. a large country can be managed as long as it is homogeneous. Russia should do as France did in the 19th century
The Anglos and the French higher average IQ than we do, and they are also much more civilized, which is why it is easier for them to manage large amounts of territory. Also, Canada isn’t nearly as huge as Russia.
North Korea is very homogeneous.
I don’t want even more international isolation and sanctions than we currently have, thank you. Also, our ethnic minorties don’t occupy much territory, so we don’t need it anyway.
Problem is not ethnic. Problem is with people in power who have 100% mafia mentality.
In my opinion Russia should manage other ethnicities like they did with Bukhara emirate. Sort of colonial policy, but it was quite effective.
>You and your country are hardly an authority on this subject.
On the contrary, we're the best when it comes to corruption, so we know a thing or two about it.
>Not sure what the fuck you're talking about
Read about how Sweden's international scores are getting worse with each passing year. They're making education ''more accessible'' because immigrants/refugees couldn't keep up with natives.
>It's always been this way.
But why?
USA also has growing wealth inequality and doesn't seem that bad when it comes to low-level corruption. Richest arab countries probably as well, although not sure here. In this part of the world you can buy/sell almost anything if you dig deep enough and have enough money, which isn't much for our standards.
Canada is also huge and forests or other unused shit in big part, yet has no such problems. USA is also huge and is ok, although apparently they have growing problems maintaining their infrastructure. The thing is, I don't know how much shit infrastructure is problem of corruption, or incompetence causing funds mismanagement, or education dropping for decades now, producing people "too good for this job, I have muh useless papers" or just idiots who can't fix it properly because just shit practical education.
Also soviets were building cities, railroads, factories all across the country and somewhat maintaining it, in many cases probably better than it's maintained now. Again, at the cost of lives and relative poverty, but still.
Of course. Brazil is shithole. Not only corrupt, but crime ridden as well, probably with exceptions of some concentrated, rich parts of the country.
Do the sanctions really hurt? Since the end of WWII NATO was against you most of the time, imposing all kinds of sanctions etc. After all this time it feels like you should have much more self-sustainable market than being reliant heavily on foreign trade, thus making sanctions less painfull, evenif only by a bit.
But you're ignoring all of the other problems that affected it, not a fair example.
