i feel like its like if boston or philly city centre got transplanted to upstate ny or vermont
so really liberal?
it's the epicenter of trudeauian politics
Also, is it worth a weekend getaway trip too? It seems to have its charms
Urban Quebec:
>Much more liberal than almost anywhere in the United States
>Practically like Western Europe in terms of how progressive it is, and how Quebec liberalism "feels"
Rural Quebec:
>Liberal in many ways, very conservative in other ways
>Ultra-protectionist of culture
>Not generally opposed to high taxes/planned economies
Quebec Catholicism:
>Used to be extremely, ultra-Catholic
>Now the population is still culturally Catholic in many ways, but most people greatly dislike and distrust the Catholic church and blame it for various societal issues
>the population is still culturally Catholic in many ways, but most people greatly dislike and distrust the Catholic church and blame it for various societal issues
like here desu, even with an argie pope and all that.
thx, looks like Vatican II did a whole lotta damage
>Vatican II
yeah everyone knows francis is the smiling face put there for a specific purpose (just like any other pope btw)
what are you mutts always going on about the second vatican council
...
>let me tell you about your god
sod off heretic
sedevacantism is top autism
lol, you must absolultely love it when francis welcomes the moozlims and north africans into italy and when John Paul II (who called himself god on earth) kissed the quran and when benedict XVI celebrated hannukah
more power to ya
stay away, mutts
ur cuntry is literally a courthouse whose sole purpose is sucking migrant cock lol
socially conservative, economically liberal
The whole world is
Québécois here
>How conservative is Quebec?
Depends on what you mean specifically. On issues like gay marriage and fememenism Quebec is arguably the least conservative province in C*nada. On issues like immigration it's arguably the most """""racist""""" province (to quote the exact word used by angl*s).
>and how is their catholicism
Completely and utterly dead as far as practicing goes. The only exceptions are baptisms, weddings and funerals, but things like church attendance are pretty much strictly limited to old people and immigrants. There's also very strong anti-clericalism here. Compared to any part of the US, we're fedoracore as fuck.
How did you go from one of the most Catholic areas in the world to French style laicite so quickly?
C-catholicism is just f-fine u guys
We will probably be the same way desu. I live in the bible belt and nobody under age 30 gives a flying fuck about religion.
education
also the french make no effort to be free from religion, we do
Kind of sad really. Religion might be idiocy but at least it has been a part of the culture, identity and heritage.
I thought that Quebec's "racism" was just an extension of their hatred of religion, which started with the Catholic church. Quebec seems like an extremely left-wing place, but unlike most SJW's the Quebecois aren't afraid to call Islam out for what it is.
They're socialists. You'll find conservatives in the rural areas just like anywhere else.
>conservative socialists
then again you have jews like barbara kay who insist that quebec is the 4th reich
Quebec isn't even that concerned about race. They're only protective of their language because we a*Glos are trying to replace it with English or Arabic. Go to Montreal and you'll find it full of Haitians and Italians.
italians in montreal dont speak french
It's still part of the culture. We swear by using different elements of the church in addition to regular fool language like fuck, shit and what not.
>Quebec
>conservative
What? What efforts you make that France doesn't?
I already read this some time ago, it doesn't really explain what happened. Like what did people suddenly wake up one day and decided to not give a shit about religion anymore?
Québécois are 70s styled socialists by nature.
>What? What efforts you make that France doesn't?
actually banning face coverings
>I already read this some time ago, it doesn't really explain what happened
>A primary change was an effort by the provincial government to take more direct control over the fields of health care and education, which had previously been in the hands of the Roman Catholic Church
Can it be any more clear?
Yes, okay, the government took control of things and so-called Quebec "Catholics" stopped caring.
