Sunday Symbiote Thread - Philosophy Edition

It's that time again
Last time around, we had an interesting discussion about the quasi-infantile nature of Toxin and how he needed to learn about why things work the way they do. It was just a shame that Pat wasn't an especially good teacher in that regard: he'd usually just say "Because I said so" or "That's just the way it is."
So now we're going have ourselves a little game. And the game is this:
You're Toxin and you have to answer questions that the symbiote poses to you. It has to be sufficiently detailed that there can be no ambiguity.
You can answer for good or evil but bear in mind that if it's the latter, you'll probably have the super-heroes in your case after a while.

We'll start off with something that was done in his mini-series.
First question.
Why shouldn't you steal?

toxin is cute

The reason stealing is viewed negatively is generally due to the thought process of I would not like something stolen from me. Does Toxin have any attachments to possessions/trophies/etc.? Symbiotes in general would have a hard time understanding theft of anything other than hosts/food.

So in an attempt to reason with the symbiote, I would argue, what if for some reason we became separated, and you came back looking for me, but another symbiote had already taken your host? How would you like that? Sure you could both fight it out, and in the end, almost surely, one would have to die. Why not then just not steal and keep the status quo while trying to improve our surroundings?

The argument of stealing is wrong is really hard to make in a super hero universe where at every disaster, heroes appropriate whatever they like to attempt to allay the damage. So if their stealing isn't wrong, the issue becomes explaining that theft in general promotes theft from everyone, which includes yourself. And while we may never stop it, it's the cumulative effort to improve that counts.

Flash might not be white in the new spider-man movie and that upsets me.

>Why shouldn't you steal?

Respecting other people's property is the cornerstone of a civilized society. If you do not have the security of being able to maintain your capital (money or other physical possessions) then you can build nothing onto it because it might be taken from you without warning.

It also breeds mistrust among your neighbors and other people. If people could take whatever they wanted from you then you would hoard and hide and spend all your time protecting what you have against others.

That's a pretty good way to communicate it.

I would attempt to explain it through Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs
On the most basic and primal level, human beings require food, shelter from the elements and protection from predators in order to survive. In order to secure these things, I would not consider theft wrong because it could be justified. Perfect example would be stealing a loaf of bread in order to feed a starving family.

On higher levels of the pyramid, it would be difficult to justify. For example, in pic related Toxin stole some laptops to replace the one he'd broken. Now in that situation, a laptop is considered a luxury item and so would not be justifiable and thus wrong. The intent behind the act was good but the ends do not justify the means in that case. It would have been better for Toxin to understand the ramifications of what he'd done and worked to make amends rather than steal to fix it.

When is the spider-man panel? I want to see if they announce who the new venom is

Next question:
Is it ever wrong to kill?

You should not steal because you'd be doing something negative that would hurt whoever you're stealing from. If you stole someone's car, now they'd have no way to get to work.
Next.

It's only okay to kill when there's no way to disarm the person you're fighting, and they're about to do something very terrible, like kill someone or set off a bomb.

anyone els want toxin to bind to peter and adopt a look close to the original red/blue suit, but all tentacley where the two colors meet?

Bump

Sounds like somebody wants some cheesecake

Killing is only okay in situations where there is either no way to preserve one's self or others.

If a criminal constantly breaks out of prison and murders 50 people every time he's out, he should probably be put down.

If you're getting attacked by someone, or you see others being attacked by someone and there is no possible way to restrain them in any shape or form, then killing would be necessary in that situation.

It is also important to know the correct amount of force in certain situations. If some guy just shoves you while walking past him, you shouldn't break his legs. But if someone with super strength takes a couple of swings at you, then yes you should break his legs.

>"Is that a symbiote?"

Let's just post the hell out of the more forgotten symbiote characters.

Poor poor Mania....

Shriek seems to get up to random shit when Carnage is busy elsewhere.

What was the name of that one last gen game where everyone gets jacked up on symbiotes?

Web of Shadows I think.

I love how he's to the point that that reflection doesn't bother him

What's going on in this thread?

Symbiotes.

Can I have one dad?

>Symbiotes give no shits about the law of conservation of mass
I don't know why this bothers me when the Hulk exists.

Remember to vote for Scream to get a figure! (Currently losing by 10 votes)

Lasher is in a vote too, but he's getting destroyed against Songbird.
