I've been studying music for almost twenty years. Two decades of practicing string instruments, reading up on music theory and techniques. But every time I go to an open mic night or some music place, there's always some chick who just wants to sing to a backing keyboard track.

Real music is an art, not just something you do for attention or a $15 buck prize. It's bad enough when I find a guitar player who 'only reads tabs' and doesn't know the difference between A5, AM and Am, but it's infuriating talking to a chick who wants 'to be a musician' but relies on sex appeal instead of actual talent and practice.
I'm not saying that there aren't talented and competent singers out there who can read music and understand basic theory, but it's like fishing in a sewer. Most of the time, it's just trash.
