Well, and as someone who used to live in Seattle...

well, and as someone who used to live in Seattle, keep in mind that all the landlords have you show proof of your income when you apply for an appt. and guess what happens when "everyone" is now making at least $15?
the apt rent goes up to match that, and since the pay increases were scheduled in your rent always went up a year before the next increase.

luckily I'm back home in the south, the part of the country God cares about.
>I'm just teasing parts of Washington that aren't Seattle, Spokane looking at you, you are cool as shit.

Real talk! What are we supposed do with the 40 years of unskilled workers that bad policy had a large hand in making?

die off like our neoliberal lords have perscribed

So... Sup Forums was right again.

>investors.com
I am very sure this will be an objective source of information on whether or not stripping everyone who isn't wealthy of any pennies they may still have is the thing to do.

Im getting a job in Seattle in the month and am apartment hunting. Can confirm every apartment has asked me for my projected income.

Remember goyim! Your only choices are to accept eternally stagnant wages as the cost of living skyrockets or to be replaced by third worlders.

>the apt rent goes up to match that
This is dead solid proof that the middle class is just as bad if not worse than the rich. Landlords are some of the shittiest people on Earth. There is literally no reason to just jack up rents because wages go up. This is nothing more than greedy landlords believing they're missing potential profit.

Curious, why don't you move somewhere that has a reasonable cost of living?

A free market would fix this because new apartments would pop up to undercut the greedy landlords. But housing is over regulated so this doesn't happen except in places like Houston where they DGAF and let people build anything anywhere.

I read the IBD every day along with the Financial Times. What publications to you read?

God bless Texas

Ooga booga where da voodoo economics at?

Feels bad man. $1100 for 430 sq ft

Per month

>McDicks boasts insane net profits every single year
>Can easily afford to bump up hourly rate by a dollar or two more per hour from federal minimum
>Acts like even a penny increase would ruin their multi-billion dollar business that will out live us all
>Republican'ts drink the kool-aid
>McDicks gets to Jew the shit out of their workers and potential employees without consequences

You people are all retarded. The invisible hand is a meme and all of you probably barely passed high school economics

>inb4 I have a PhD in Economics from Harvard School of Jewery and Memes, ranked #1 in class.

They were going to do this anyways $15/hr or not.

This is one issue I disagree with Sup Forums on.

Companies are going to squeeze us for every penny whether we kiss their ass or not.

Are you tough enough to call the clown's bluff? If you're right, then McDs will back down. If you're wrong. McDs will charge forth and pare down their staff to nothing. In either event, you have to deal with the ramifications.

Pop up where? In the fucking mountains? People want to live in the city you dumbfuck, and all the land there is already developed.

Then move somewhere with a reasonable cost of living.

Scarcity drives up cost.

Well what is McDonald's profit?

They have 420,000 employees.

If my math is correct, just a $1 raise for 400,000 of them working 30 hours a week would be $12 million and $624 million for 52 weeks. $312 billion a year if most were paid $10 and got a $5 raise.

That's literally two closets and a bathroom.

Math is just a evil republican construction to keep the poor down.

Then it's a broken business model and they shouldn't be in business

a higher minimum wage just makes the incentive more there to automatize

Its simple economics, user. As the price of a good increases, demand for that good decreases.

>raise cost of doing business until businesses go bankrupt
>it shouldn't have been in business then xxxD

>"The tragic irony of this is that those who are worst hurt by a higher minimum wage are those with little education or training, mostly minorities, immigrants and the young
WE NEED A HIGHER MINIMUM WAGE.

WHO #TWEET4TWENTY HERE?

>broken business model
>is the largest fast food chain ever

>For the first quarter, McDonald's reported a profit of $1.1 billion, up from $811.5 million. Per-share earnings rose to $1.23 from 84 cents, topping analysts' expectations of $1.16. Revenue fell 0.9% to $5.9 billion in the face of the strong dollar, though it still topped Wall Street's forecasts of $5.82 billion.

Fuck all you bootlickers. Businesses have been jewing us and you conservashits are literally letting them. Fuck you trump supporters, businesses are the jew

trump supports higher wages so i have no idea what you're on.

>profits start dropping
>shareholders become nervous, want to see better
>McDonald's can either increase prices to make more off of customers, fire/automate people or they can suffer the loss
>choose to suffer the loss
>shareholders nope the fuck out of there
>company plumits
>massive cutbacks on everything, jobs lost, now no one can make anything

It's even worse for small businesses, they just get double fucked over if people start losing jobs in their area and leaving. On top of that, if they have to cover extra costs, they have to hope that people in that area are willing to pay more, because otherwise they go completely under.

>Shareholders have the emotional and financial sense of a toddler
>MCDicks operates on a fucking needle tip
Implying a lot senpai

>WHO #TWEET4TWENTY HERE?

Hell yeah, legalize it!

Do you live under a rock? We have these at Sheetz and they're awesome.

>High as fuck
>pick food with all the weird shit I want on it in any combination along with other items
>never have to interact with anyone except handing a piece of paper to a cashier

They just need to get the machines to accept cash.

I do love self checkouts though. Three times I've had the cashier fuck up and not use my gift card at Walmart.

yeah so what makes you morons think that a business that is forced to raise it's minimum wage won't simply raise their prices to compensate, and pass the difference on to the customers?

WHY ARE YOU IDIOTS SO SURE THAT BUSINESSES WILL SIMPLY CUT THEIR CEO'S COMPENSATION TO PAY FOR THE WORKERS RAISES? GODDAMN MORONS YES I MAD

Yeah let's just increase their expenditure by 3 billions a year, surely that won't backfire right back at burger flippers

>eating at mcdonalds

you fatlardasses deserve this.

I personally don't eat there, but they employ hundreds of thousands of people.

Tear down inefficient structures and build large apartment complexes on top of them. Except you can't, because the city has to approve it, and you didn't bribe them well enough, so now you're fucked.

this is dumb, you're all dumb

everything is becoming automated, raising minimum wage just makes it happen faster, which is a good thing

if you don't want things to become automated you will have to start paying people pennies because that's how much more efficient machines will be in the near future

the kiosks are convenient especially if you are a millenial :)
it would have happened anyway, the $15 idiocy might have accelerated the development

I only eat when they have coupons. Can you pass up a Big Mac, Quarter Pounder, or that chicken sandwich meal for $4? Or buy one get one free sandwiches? I did win some gift cards too.

...

I'm sure there are no other differences between American and Danish McDonald's and their respective economic contexts.

And how much is left after they're taxed?

They're taxed 61% at $50K

Working 40 hours a week 52 weeks a year at $21/hour is about $42K

that's still a good bit more than mcdonalds employees make here. not to mention the other benefits.

They had to hire MORE people at my local McDonald's when this was put in. The kitchen was expanded to accommodate the additional staff required for the special orders.

There are also still cashiers who take people's orders.

This article is bunk.

I don't know what type of taxes socialist countries impose, but the sales tax is like 25% over there so that makes big Mac more expensive.

>. There is literally no reason to just jack up rents because wages go up.

Actually there is. It is the foundation of the entire world you live in and the reason you can afford a computer to shitpost on

read Naked Economics or just kill yourself

>accelerated
More like forced.

Germans must all have holes in their brains or something.

Oh yeah think of all the 13 million dollar cars and 4 yachts those company executives wouldn't be able to buy if minimum wage was increased! How horrible!

I didn't know they actually enacted the $15 minimum wage

All economists, including those who support raising the minimum wage, realize that it is bad for the least skilled workers. That's the trade off for a much stronger economy and a larger middle class. With the increased revenue from fixing the economy, we can get jamal his gibsmedat after the robots take his job at mcburgers. The big difference for jamal is that now he at least has incentive to become employed, as any job whatsoever is significantly better than sitting on your ass collecting benefits. With our current system, it really isn't worth it to have a minimim wage job rather than just collecting welfare.

Too bad it's still a shit system that rewards underhanded practices and manipulation while literally fucking the anus of the majority so a minority can have what they want and use who they want.

>Too bad it's still a shit system that rewards underhanded practices and manipulation while literally fucking the anus of the majority so a minority can have what they want and use who they want.

you do not understand economics

you do not understand economics at all

you do not understand the system that governs your world

you do not understand what is wrong with it

you do not understand at all

I'm paying 400 flat for 750 sq feet, all wood floors, attached garage, central heat/ac, utilities included, and pet friendly (only increase in price was a steeper deposit).

instead of spending $50k on a bullshit degree, you could have taken out a mortgage and rented the house for double the mortgage payment. Amazing that all the young 'intellectuals' can't find a way to thrive other than the brainwashed method of college debt and renting.

raise the federal minimum wage and cut unemployment/welfare entitlements to offset.

Same with Australia, they brought in the make-your-own burger thing and hired line 20k more people.

that is 3x my mortgage on a 3br house on 80 acres. lol

No, I understand perfectly well how the system was created and for what reasons.

You don't understand that it doesn't need to exist anymore.

>you can afford a computer
funny thing is that when Internet for all began to shape up as a reality, Bill Gates was one of the founders that insisted computers be "socialized", ie make sure everyone was able to get one, and use it easily, before the money making started.
Socialism is why blood sucking investors can make money with computers.

How much do you pay your employees? Or are you just talking out your ass?

>taken out a mortgage
>still buying into the housing Jew
>In the year of our lord 2008+8.

Maximum kek.

>created
>reasons

>WE NEED A HIGHER MINIMUM WAGE.
you need a better job that earns more than minimum wage. Why do so many people have a goal of earning minimum?

>it always existed
>just because

>>taken out a mortgage
NPR just had a report today that it is harder than ever to qualify for a mortgage, homeowner-ship in America is at a new statistical low.

Well no fucking duh. Nobody wants to put their money into property after the massive fuck-up in 2007-8.

because every small business has a multi million dollar earning CEO.. kek

is she a burger flipper or a manager?

Yet woman get paid what is it, .79 on the dollar for the same work? It's a load of bullshit. Males wouldn't be hired if it were true.

what's up Idaho

I'm not sure if these pay machine will be a real thing. People in general are stupid as fuck and take forever while not giving a shit how long they take at machines (ATMs, self-checkout registers, movie ticket machines, etc).

They would have to install at least 5 machines per store and hire an associate to solve any issues. Pay exorbitant amount per machine to be installed and maintanence and licensing fees, etc.

yacht builders make $45/hr and you still bitching about McDonalds. This is why you fail.

McDonald's is a franchiser, they do not employ most of those people

The economy can crash and burn for all I care.

So sick of people acting like its some great thing. Its the reason for the mess we are in. The faster it goes and the faster people have to wake up from their dream worlds to face reality the better this world will be.

Fucking shill thread I swear.

Montana. Idaho is pricier because californians

*parties hard*

What is the point of having a job if you can't even support yourself? I don't blame them for trying.

Besides even if you paid your workers $1 an hour at time point automation would be cheaper so this shit was going to happen anyway.

>Maximum kek.
back at ya.. last payment was made in 2009. Total in payments made was $208k. Appraised value is $340k. Last year I sold a few of the pine trees that I wanted to get rid off.. just an extra $22k for no work at all. Keep paying the jew rent.

literally demolition man.
Enjoy the sewers. Told y'all to stop having kids.

young people actually believe that renting is the smart option. Whatever, I could care less. It must suck to never have a net worth higher than a few dollars.

Yes, it has. The "invisible hand" was 240 years ago and you still can't figure it out.

>what's up Idaho
northern Michigan actually.

Of course it is, sweetie.

>trade and barter being considered anywhere comparable to modern economy

Don't make me fucking giggle, nigger. Trading 5 beaver pelts you spend maybe half of one day hunting for a cow is not the same as laboring for 15 years to have enough currency to pay for a house.

Motherfucker people can't even legally live INNAWOODS off nature anymore because of your precious currency system that keeps getting exponentially larger and more ridiculous.

You want to nationalise McDonald's?

Regulate the financial sector. They produce nothing and fuck over the economy again and again.

>oh no! Mcjews would only make 2.5 billion in profit (after all their expenses jewry and bonuses for top management) if they had to pay their workers a decent wage
>this cannot stand!

>I'm just teasing parts of Washington that aren't Seattle, Spokane looking at you, you are cool as shit.

Aye nigger, I'm fairly well off but holy fuck jobs are scarce in my area.

Yea but that has nothing to do with fast food chains, minimum wage or automation of low skilled work.

>Socialists hate Fordism
>Raise Minimum Wage
>Businesses cut back on employees and embrace Fordism

kek

haha yeah I was just about financially set to buy a house when local property values shot through the fucking roof due to a flood of californians, and now a decent starter home is 2x-3x what it used to be a few years back

I just bought a house in LA, cost 450k, but I make 105k/yr and wife makes 55k.

Nice to know in bumblefuck da UP inbreeders can afford something too.

You mean there is high demand with limited supply and people are willing to pay more for living in a city?

The free market is working as intended.

>fordism

i've never heard that term before. that a fancy way of saying automating large parts of a business because Ford popularized the assembly line?
