More foreign superheroes

Why are Marvel and DC so shit at fleshing out the rest of the world that isn't the USA and either New York or Gotham and Metropolis?

They are either knockoff Avengers or Justice League or a weird racist mess. Even ones that are sort of okay like the Great Ten (only middling) are way to small for their population and are used rarely. Ones like the Super young team are absolute trash.

The rest of the world is either place to learn magic/martial arts or as a battlefield for USA superheroes.

Plus having a multinational force, or other countries having cool innovative teams means you don't have to turn all the US heroes into the rainbow parade.

Pic related one of the worst teams.

Captain Britain Corps are pretty GOAT.

The same hero isn't really a fleshed out superhero dynamic for a entire country.

Why would they bother with characters that will appear in two issues and be ignored forever? Dress dude in black, give him eagle shield, name him Captain Reichstag and move on.

Because while they want to have Universes the sales do not Support Universes. They support like 20 characters and a couple teams for each of them.

You would need to tear it down and start it all again from the beginning with a eye to the globe to have any chance of success

The best iterations of the Justice League have expanded, global membership.
In the background at least, even if it never focuses on anyone besides the A-listers.

>not liking the SYT

I want to cum on Superbat's chest

I'd love to see more Japanese straight up toku superheroes in Marvel or DC. It's something that hasn't been done yet really well. The contrast in powers and attitude would be interesting, I think.

Both Marvel and DC have Vixen and Black Panther, decent African superheroes. But they don't come off as superheroes an actual African would come up with, more like something an American thought would be cool. But they're kinda alright anyway. Static Shock also had a pretty cool African superhero with Anansi the Spider.

Somehow we still haven't gotten a true Mexican luchador superhero in either universes. That shit should sell itself. Give me a lucha superhero with some superheroes, give it a good supporting cast, make it fun or at least really cool, and bam. You got yourself a badass new superhero.

Morrison's Batman run (re-?)introduced some pretty cool new superheroes from all around the world and some cool new supervillains to go with them, like Scorpiana.

And the Great Ten were kinda alright too.

Also fuck you OP, Super Young Team was at least an interesting idea that had some potential. And the other Japanese superhero team they teased in Final Crisis was cool too.

Sure i would love this but i would rather have folks who lived in the culture of the conutry the character is from then have a story written with info from Wikipedia

>Somehow we still haven't gotten a true Mexican luchador superhero in either universes. That shit should sell itself. Give me a lucha superhero with some superheroes, give it a good supporting cast, make it fun or at least really cool, and bam. You got yourself a badass new superhero.
Problem is that doesn't work with modern times, specially not when America insists on ignoring all of Mexico and mexican culture that isn't Tijuana.
El Santo had a massive sci-fi movie franchise because he was a mix of Doc Savage and James Bond, who happened to be a wrestler when he wasn't fighting vampires, aliens and mad scientists. His movies happened in Mexico City which is a metropolitan capital like any other and therefore didn't have any of the cactuses, sombrero wearing useless hobos drunken on tequila, shitty frontier cantinas, narcos and 24/7 fake dia de muertos crap hollywood gringos need to push to accept something as "mexican".

And ultimatedly that's the problem. You can't make something feel legit when you absolutely can't live without the most bullshit wrong of stereotypes, therefore almost every single "international" superhero created in america ends up reading like a cheap knockoff big two superhero dressed up in the most racist "ethnic" costume possible.

The biggest crime of El Santo's cameo in Batman '66 was the lack of he and Batman bonding over being super competent renaissance men before defeating Riddler and LUCHA-Bane.

Well, part of the problem is that the vast majority of comic writers are American, and thus can't really write an accurate foreign character. Even tons of research can't help because of a lack of experience with the culture. And even then, it's difficult for anyone to not subconsciously inject one's opinions of completely foreign values. See the example of Wonder Woman, and Marston's idea of loving submission. That's a made up culture, and people have a hard time understanding it, so just imagine a balanced portrayal of a Soviet hero by an American.

Speaking of, bring back the Rocket Red Brigade. Our boy Dmitri is sorely missed.

Dude, mexico city is a third world shithole with beggers, it smells like a dirty swamp, there's garbage everywhere

This is the problem, most american wrters are too lazy to do actual research.
One of their biggest sins is that the "good guys" foreign characters always have american values, america is always portrayed on a possitive light or the readers will get offended.
The chinese superman dad caring for democracy was pure cringe, if they wanted a chink superman he could care for Equality, righteousness and harmony.

Different values can be good too.

you have shit taste kill yourself.

Mexico is complete shit, you need to understand from a stylistic point of view there's no reason to focus on th 5% of Mexico that looks like a modern city, if you want a modern city you go for the public's country, not for a country no one likes. If you are an artist you go for the Mexico that is fun to draw. Beaners can't read so there's no point pandering to them anyway

DC has the Global Guardians, they should update them. The Shade also has a daughter who acts as a superhero in Spain.

Because cape-comics are by burgers for the burgers.

Captain Britain is great but still completely sidelined.

This would require at least some passing knowledge of other countries.

>Why are Marvel and DC so shit at fleshing out the rest of the world that isn't the USA

Because most writers are white dudes from the US.

And people like Geoff Johns doesnt know the difference between romans and greeks.

No country has more stereotyped characters than Australia.

Australian "people" are just live action cartoons

Remember when the British superheroes got a book and one wasn't a superhero, two weren't British, and one was invented for the event?

Read Contest of Champions, it had the GOAT international hero team.

So more stereotypes? That is one of the main reasons why the current foreign capes are shit.

Think. Are any of the MAJOR DC heroes a cowboy stereotype. No. The only major stereotype Sourthern is a few of the Xmen, mostly just Rogue. The other strotypes of America areas aren't super present in heros. They are influences, like Superman's country upbringing but they aren't the whole character.

Also the Super young team is the laziest copy pasting of American heroes and changing them slightly to be Asian and irrelevant outside their niche. Of course there are other bad ones, like the copypasting of Batman and Robin everywhere like Knight and Squire and the league of international batmen.

For Mexico maybe have the super dynamic where the real heroes are those who fight against the cartels and are driven underground, as illegal vigilantes. The public heroes, are goverment and cartel backed, so they have minor show successes against crime and focus more on preventing super villains not part of the cartels and the vigilante heroes. A few might by luchadors, but most would be heroes, with the Mexican part just being a major influence not their entire character. So no Sombrero man, but they might reference Mexican popular culture, time to time.

To this day I don't get why DC doesn't have a tatsunoko like sub universe, look at them they already look like they are part of their multiverse, dynamic poses, bright colors, martial arts rather than powers and iconic characters.

In DC Mexico, there are Acrata, El Muerto, and Iman. They aren't terribly stereotypical.
Acrata has teleportation powers and fights organized crime and is an anarchist.
El Muerto is a zombie that originally died while saving a kid and had a hateboner for Superman.
Iman was an astronaut and while he was in space, someone killed his mom. He decided to make a mechsuit and fight crime.

>hating on SYT
And it goes straight into the trash.

>its an OP is an MCU baby who lumps DC in with Marvel

Batman Inc
Hub City
Coast City
Central City
China
Space
Grayson

All books/locations that are fleshed out in the DCU.

Nearly every example I used is DC you retard. Also most of them are still in the USA.

Also Batman Inc is just throwing all the Batman copies into one organisation.

Batman Inc was all over the globe, Grayson was all over the Globe, the GL is all over space. What are you even asking you monkey? Why American myths don't operate more outside of America? That's like asking why the Greek gods didn't have more stories that took place in Rome.

Yeah this OP. These characters weren't created for the whole world, they were created by Americans for Americans during the great depression to inspire and console people. Thats a pretty stupid question.

>during the great depression to inspire and console people.

No they were not. Aside from Batman and Superman not a single one comes from that era. a good bunch are from the WW2 era, and most of the most popular pones are from the mid 50's to late 60's

There must be a parallel world where the only American superheroes are shit like THE COWBOY and THE BALD EAGLE and THE HAMBURGER EATER.

No, the 3 most popular and the ones that created the entire Superhero genre, Batman, Wonder Woman and Superman were created at the end of the great depression into the beginning of WWII. Also that doesnt change the fact that these are literal American myths and they have no reason or obligation to appeal to the rest of the world. America is a melting pot so diversity makes sense but having a book take place outside of America does not.

Marvel's Excalibur?

>THE COWBOY
Vigilante
>THE BALD EAGLE
Captain America
>THE HAMBURGER EATER
Hal Jordan.

This also marvel britain has lot of interesting characters, too bad they're not using them.
the event from a couple of years ago was kind of good but didnt do well, sadly

Current Hercules in NY speaking hipster and ordering pizza is so cringy for this reason.

Because people don't buy those books.

SYT was Morrison trying to give a lecture on something he had no understanding of.

>Are any of the MAJOR DC heroes a cowboy stereotype.

Dude, DC is made of stereotypes. That's a pretty big part of the fun. Their British heroes are all Arthurian knights, for example.

How is SYT a lecture?

Remember, this a company with a characters like KGBeast AND NKVDemon.
