no it wasn't. there were no republics in the 7th century... it was an anarchy, and it has been during other times as well. the only "rule" was a bunch of people meeting every now and then to decide on stuff (those meetings are still being held btw). also norway did not conquer it as much as they assimilated it. going to norway and later sweden was mostly agreed upon by the people living here. not much of a fight. anarchy is not really a long-term stable state. i can't wait for us to go back to it though. get away from both you cucks.
