Elena of Avalor

Why don't I ever see a thread about Elena of Avalor?

>smooth animation, doesn't do Miraculous Ladybug's 'quick motion-quick pause' animation
>model designs are better than all of Disney's other CG series
>one new original song per episode, so far been in flamenco and blues styles
>girls look cute as hell
>guys look decent

It's not a continuous traveling adventure like Mysterious Cities of Gold or Avatar, but it's still more interesting than Disney's other current TV series, and a type of series I would have expected them to make a long time ago. Three episodes are out if you do the 3 ep rule sample.

And I say this as a Miraculous Ladybug fan, it's not annoyingly formulaic like Ladybug, other than the general idea of Elena helping some new quirky character per episode.

That's all I've got to self-bump this thread. Wish I weren't too lazy to make webms of the great character animation. Don't know how it's possible for Sup Forums to not be interested in something containing waifu bait.

I don't like the fact that her kingdom is a mish mash of a bunch of vaguely "Latin" stereotypes. It really should have been based off of a pre-Columbian native culture.

It's inoffensive but there's nothing really there. I mean, it is aimed at very young children.

I like Sophia the First better

Yeah, I do find it dumb they shoehorned it in just to have a Latin princess. I guess they did that because having a Mesoamerican princess riding Quetzalcoatls instead of glitter jaguars is too GAR for little girls, and they wouldn't be able to sell those designs as toys.

It's on Disney Channel rather than Junior, think it might even be their first original CG animation that's not Junior source. So marginally less babby than their other stuff. And stuff like MLP was aimed at young children, yet look what happened to it.

never heard of it but it does look nice. none of those gross deformed faces so popular in most CG

I was waiting on an Elena thread to pop up, and I was honestly expecting Sup Forums to jump all over this one based on pure waifuism alone, especially with the main females being so brown and so white (respectively) and the lesbian vibes of their 'friendship'. I like it, but the one thing that bugs me is the animation for the mouth movements seem a little off. It's subtle, but it almost looks like it was animated to a different audio track and then redubbed over. Weird.

first ep was pretty awful. it's definately for kids under 10 years old though, not teens or curious adults.

I think a part of Disney's selling point is they design attractive leads, particularly the females. Big almond shaped eyes and petite noses and face shapes. The lip synch animation looked great to me, but there always will be some oddities if they passed the bulk of the animation to Korean studios.

You know, if you spell "definitely" wrong this actually might be perfect for you.

Sooo porn of these two when?

I want a Spanish Inquisition episode more smhtbhfam

I make threads for each new episode, but quickly lose interest because the spirit fox doesn't show up very often. He's not been in the two most recent episodes.

>When designing certain elements, too, they would look back to classic Disney animation. Elena has a spirit animal in the show, like a ghostly Jiminy Cricket. And the creature is a fox. But initially it looked too fearsome. “He looked like a dog,” Montagna said. “And we were like, ‘No, it’s a fox! It’s a Disney fox, it has to look like Robin Hood.’ He doesn’t really look like Robin Hood, but you can get the stepping off point. I could tell you we talked about The Jungle Book, Cinderella, and Aladdin all the time.” Notani added: “We wanted them to relate more to the Disney family.”

>but quickly lose interest because the spirit fox doesn't show up very often.
You mean the furfags are the usual bumpers? I would think it's waifufags. The fox and jaguars do seem Aladdin based only, their art style and modern humor don't really match anything else.

>never heard of it before
>decide to give this a chance
>first episode breaks the "show, not tell" rule with the intro
>flat out explains all this stuff that sounds like it would have been awesome to actually see happen
>episode proper begins after all that
>is bland as fuck

I mean, I get it's Disney, but damn.

Is Elena going to be apart of the Disney Princess line ?

The mesoamerican cultures come in later. Trust me.

It's a recap of a movie for a preschool cartoon that isn't out yet. They want the show to do better with older kids, so premiering a purely preschool movie first would have been bad form.

Yes

So where is the third episode? It wasn't on the website around the time the episode aired, and I don't have whatever cable station it airs on.

I cannot tell, is her skin tanned or light brown?

What, new to pirating? It's at the usual places. Piratebay for torrents, sites like putlocker for steaming.

>premiering a purely preschool movie first would have been bad form.

On one hand, I get that. However, what they said happened, sounded like it would have been so cool to see. Like they could have made that what the older kids see and it would probably be awesome.

As someone who's seen the movie, trust me when I tell you that it's not...

Why wasn't the entire "evil sorceress enchanted painting magic jewel prison wizard quest" backstory the actual pilot? They just rushed through it in three minutes. There was a LOT of story there that could have been an entire TV movie.

Because that whole plot is part of Sofia's show. It's different both stylistically and they didn't want people's opinions of that special to affect the performance of Elena's show. At least, that's what I understand.

bump because reasons

Elena and Naomi are perfect for each other. They should totally fuck.
