NON CAPE COMICS

How do I into non cape comics? I think the only non cape thing I've read is y the last man and I really dug it. What're your top picks? Help a Sup Forumsmrad out here.

Just a little rant here but how the fuck is this an issue? Just look at a book you think looks cool and read it. Do you have to ask how to get into movies and shows too? Come on.

But I really enjoy just about anything put out by Jeff Lemire that's not directly Marvel or DC characters.

What genres do you like, OP?

You just read them, dude.

>Do you have to ask how to get into movies and shows too
I mean yeah, if I'm trying to get into a certain genre or type of movie I'll ask around. Why you gotta be so aggressive mang, just asking for non cape suggestions cause I mainly read cape stuff. No need to sperg.

>How do I into non cape comics?
Find something you think might be interesting.
Read it.

Read european kid comics:
>Asterix
>Tintin
>Lucky Luke
>Mortadelo y Filemón
All amazing and funny as well.

Comics aren't a genre.

>non cape comics
Not a genre but a category.

Read Dark Horse.

Other than Y: The Last Man, that well is pretty dry son

The same way you into cape comics.

Hellboy
Fables
Transmetropolitan
Preacher
Prophet
Manhattan Projects
Wormwood: Gentleman Corpse
Blacksad

I like Conan.

I Kill Giants was also good and self contained.

How do I open my eyes and read pages?

I'd add Corto Maltese and Moomins to that list.

European adventure comics are so much fun.

Sin City
Blacksad
Usagi Yojimbo
Donald Duck Comics

google Sup Forums reqs for non-cape comics
also search the archive we've had a bunch of threads about them and they're storytimed quite often

I've also been branching away from cape comics (or a little more accurately, staying away from the big 2)

I recommend:
>Blacksad
>Megg, Mogg, & Owl
>Hellboy
>Fables
>I Kill Giants
>Optic Nerve
>Saga
>Persepolis
>(((Maus)))
>Understanding Comics
>Anything by Chris Ware

Thanks guys. I'll checkem out.

> find cape comic writer you like
> look at other works
> branch from there

It aint that hard

you should check out Poppy O'possum

Try manga. I know it's not exactly what you asked, but just the way Japan treats their comics means there are a lot of different types, as opposed to us, where it's mostly a specific type of action soap opera.

If you want American, maybe try webcomics.

Love & Rockets
Sweet Tooth
Peanuts
Calvin & Hobbes
Kingdom Bum
Manifest Destiny
Hellboy/BPRD (arguably capeshit, but damn great nonetheless)

>maybe try webcomics.

this. Prequel Adventure is really good.

good webcomics, OP maybe a faggot but don't make him a bigger one

Go read the first decade or so of National Lampoon's English version of Metal Hurlant, Heavy Metal. Very good stuff in there, even if it really isn't in line with my own personal tastes

>hating prequel just because

find me a flaw besides "muh no updates"

The Goon

Love & Rockets--Heartbreak Soup and the Locas stuff
Jim Woodring comics (I prefer the Jim stuff but most folks on here seem to go for the pantomime Frank comics)
Death Ray by Daniel Clowes
Eye of the Majestic Creature by Leslie Stein
The Alack Sinner stuff by Munoz and Sampayo
Any of the Jaques Tardi books that Fantagraphics have put out
The Great Northern Brotherhood of Canadian Cartoonists by Seth
Binky Brown Meets The Holy Virgin Mary by Justin Green
The Plague of Frogs arc from BPRD by Mignola and Davis
Wally Gropius/Sir Alfred No.3 by Tim Hensley
Crickets (especially the last 3 issues, the Blood of the Virgin arc) by Sammy Harkham.

Tried not to be too "obscure" (I mean, by Sup Forums standards) with these recs. Do what you will with them, OP.

Maus is a must read.

Infinite Kung Fu is awesome.

Cerebus for variety and eventually unbridled madness

Uhhh...I guess Frank Miller's Ronin doesn't count as cape? Nor should Morrison's WE3?

Everyone else mentioned the other non-capes I've read. Bone is also supposed to be good but I haven't read it; have had the complete Bone on my shelf for a while and haven't gotten around to reading it yet.

this, try The Goon OP

Sandman
Lucifer
Promethea
Swamp-Thing (alan moore run)
Habibi
Daytripper
We3
Finder
Bone
East of West
Saga
Fathom
The Puma Blues
Calvin and Hobbes
Transmetropolitan
The Goon
Hellboy
Persepolis
Blacksad
Ballad of Halo Jones
Skizz
Fable
Manifest Destiny
Black Orchid
Supergod
Descender
From Hell

not OP but any recommendations for cyberpunk comics?

uh....

Robotech? Cluster? Deathlok? Warlock from New Mutants?

well, Supergod might be considered capeshit, as well as Planetary and Top 10, but they're not typical capeshit

muh no updates
and the art is shit

You need to list out genres you like, you're basically asking us to post every hero without a cape, that's a real dick move and a lot to ask for.

expected nothing more from a blind hater, prequel is the most popular webcomic out there, fact.

hate all you want, it's not gonna change that fact.

See Pic might help decide what kind of comic you like.

Forgot one under post-apocalyptic

Even without considering the lack of updates (and the current hiatus is fucking ridiculous by the way, any other comic would be considered dead for having not updated this long), the plot still moves at a snail's pace and Katia's constantly having her progress reset to 0 comes off as more frustrating than endearing.

Link to them? I've been hunting these things for awhile now.

Yes, the only ones who keep "decent work" with "not convoluted edgy artsy crap"

It really is like asking, "I'm tired of horror films, what should I watch to get into all other films."
