I think it's the webs. The shiny black webs on the Raimi suit are really defined and break up the suit's design nicely, compared to the Webb suit where they're just kind of there and look awful and the MCU suit where you can barely even see them and it just looks like a red and blue morph suit.

I can't tell if it's just because it's something that doesn't translate to movies well or if it's just because the effects are so awful (considering how well they worked in Deadpool), but the expressive eyes are awful in homecoming.

because normalfags didnt want to see spidys origin again, but they forget what makes him spiderman, uncle bens death, theres no emotional connection to petes troubles because its not clear why he's doing it
sure he fucks up in the movie but it doesnt have the same effect as a father figure dying because he was being cocky
if you know anything about spiderman you'd know skipping his origin was a bad idea
what they should have done was continue with garfield sure his movies werent great but at least we know why he's fighting crime

God I always hated the Raimi suit. The eyes look so fucking mad and edgy, and Toby looked god awful in it. His chin was way too wide. I like sleeker Spider-Man and rounder eyed Spider-Man the best. They look more accurate to the comics.

I mean, I get where you're coming from, yeah the classic origin story thing is much more personal, but to claim that that's all that Spider-Man is about is pretty bullshit.
There wouldn't be a point in having Spider-Man comics to begin with, if that were the case. You can't have every comic revolve around that one event in his life. Sure, the core of the event, the cost of innaction is a huge part of Spidey's character that isn't spelled out the same way in this movie as it is in his origin story, but it is demonstrated to be a core element of his character.
He repeatedly refuses to not take action, both to demonstrate independence, but also to protect people. Instead of just setting up this element of his character via an origin story, the movie punishes him for it in multiple ways, and shows him power through those consequences, which establishes the core of his character just as well.

To me, it actually feels better that his motivation isn't locked down into one event. It's one of those things that can make a character very petty or flanderize them. If anyone, Spidey shouldn't become like Batman, where they took the source of a character trait and made it into the character trait.

I actually complained that the Tobey maguire spiderman looked like a bitch compared to the original 90s cartoon spiderman but I didn't know that they were going to make spiderman more effeminate with every update
