>Republicans will support that

kek

Fuck walmart

>trying to make a living as a cashier/janitor/bagger et cetera
>muh gibs

Sage

So what you're saying is Walmart couldn't spare an extra $1.5 billion a quarter to make sure their workers aren't living in abject poverty and sucking off the tit of the government?

That sounds irresponsible, especially for a republican.

I think he's saying the government should stop subsidizing cashiers entirely

Quit straw-manning. No, I am not nor did I imply that. I AM saying that people shouldn't expect to make a sustainable living in basic low-skill level jobs; it is also not Wall-Mart's responsibility to care for their workers beyond the work place.

So I guess it's the governments?

>Who's really causing the welfare state?

Retards that volunteer to work at Walmart?

If no one wanted to work at Walmart then there wouldn't be anyone working at Walmart.
These people don't mind having a shitty job because there are gibs available.

The welfare state is enabling Walmart not vice versa.

It's their own numbnuts

It's nobody's.

No, it is a man's own duty to care for himself.

>he doesn't understand that if government did not subsidize these low life then crime would be up the roof
>he doesn't understand the basic of a social contract and why we have governments in place

kek

This board is full of idiots

>america
holy shit all of you are utter spastics, this is why everyone laughs at you

3/4 of American flags are kids who can't vote, and have taken 1 Social Study class in a shitty HS

>worked at walmart
>make a dollar more than my neighbor who was working at a saw mill
and to answer your question liberals are causing the welfare state

Obummer.

How am I a fool or childish for stating that a man is responsible for himself rather than a government, company, et cetera?

how are you a fool for advocating the simplest, most unfair, most susceptible to abuse and most archaic social responsibility system in existence? in a thread about workers rights and how theyre being systematically abused to keep the workers below the poverty line

spastic

Good thing I have a gun and will shoot any poor nigger who wants to rob me.

Can a nigga get a fair tax?

No more payroll taxes and a prebate check every month? That would help these cashiers more than a $15 wage

>Who's really causing the welfare state?
Government programs.

If handouts didn't exist, people would be forced to compete for higher wages.

>Be on welfare
>Nobody will hire you because you don't have 10+ years of experience or 10 PHDs
>Take the best job that you can find because it is the only opportunity you are offered
>Get worked to death for pennies and still have to sign up for welfare because you can only afford cans of beans despite the American dream promising that if you get off your ass and work you will be able to at the very least be able to afford real food

There is only one tax that's fair and it's the sales tax because it covers even the black market at some point as opposed to never with an income tax.

It's the fault of the boomers and the fed

Back in their day they could work Target and pay their way through college or buy a house after a couple years

your logic makes no sense what so ever

>doesn't get a job and gets welfare from government
its his fault
>gets a job and needs welfare to not be on breadline whilst the company they're working for makes $115 Billion in a quarter
its somehow their fault.

there's a small difference between "gibs socialism" and decency/ disgusting crony capitalism in not paying your workers enough whilst making ridiculous amounts of money

>government program causes economic problem
>liberals blame free market and corporations
Why do they do this every time?

Yeah a presidency that was mostly firewalled by republicans in the congress and the senate.

> people shouldn't expect to make a sustainable living in basic low-skill level jobs

Why the fuck not? We were able to do it in the past. 50 years ago you could make a pretty fucking decent living working in an American factory doing unskilled labor. Fuck you could raise a big family, afford a nice house, and always be able to put food on the table with a single income household and no college degree.

If a full 40-hour week of unskilled human labor was able to afford a decent living then, why can't we do it now?

This famalam. This man gets it.

bcuz, corporate profits before people/humanity development hurrrr

>cnbc.com/2016/05/19/walmart-q1-earnings.html
>Walmart REVENUE was $115 billion last quarter
>doesn't know the difference between revenue and profit
>arguing economics
>bernie supporter
Walmart's profit margin was 2.66% last quarter.
The actual Walmart profit was $3.059 billion

Exactly, the dude making the retarded argument I am sure went to college for computer science or some neckbeardy shit and makes an awesome wage, living as a bachelor "because he chooses to", socking away all his earnings and then asking why can't everyone do the same thing?

While he isn't wrong that people do have the choice of going to college or getting into a trade to better their earning power and get out of the perpetual welfare state, it leads to the question of who is going to work at Walmart and Mcdonalds, doing this shit he got a degree not to do? Who is going to work the line in the factories, wash dishes at the fancy restaurant he eats at, pick produce in a field?

Not everyone has the mental capacity or drive to go to college, there has to be unskilled laborers in the work place. Do they deserve to earn $30 an hour to work as a cashier? No, of course not. Do they deserve to earn a livable wage? Yes, they do. I couldn't tell you if its $15 an hour or $9.46 an hour, but it sure as fuck isn't $7.50 an hour before taxes.

If the companies aren't going to pay their employees more and housing costs well beyond their wage, where are they going to live? How will they eat? It's either resort to crime or have the government support them.

Of course, in your world, nobody has to work these jobs because you don't. It goes back to who is going to sell you your chicken tendies when nobody wants to work at walmart or the grocery store anymore because they don't pay a livable wage? Are you going to raise your own chicken, process them, produce oil from rapeseed, deep fry them in pans you created in an oven you made in your backyard, since nobody is doing these tasks anymore?

>people so mentally cucked by capitalism they think this is fine because "if weeza keep uhself to the grindstone we finna make billions"

Minimum wage is bullshit.
Welfare is bullshit.
We want to get rid of both.

Can a man care for himself by voting for his own interests. That's what I'm doing with Trump. I don't want to pay for a walmart worker's wage through food stamps. Ergo, they should be able to contract for a better wage. Is it not their right to vote for a government that can help them do that? Or is it like an amusement park, but instead of height it reads "must have a salary above $1 million and make shitty investments to get bailed out by US taxpayers."
I'm not advocating a minimum wage, I'm advocating consent between an employer/employee. I wouldn't work for less than $20 an hour. Theres people in my company that do, but they are less valuable than I am. There's people that make more than me, but they are an asset for the company. And guess what? I started out at below minimum wage because I had no skills, and the company was kind enough to give me a chance. As I've grown, the company has grown. It was an investment. Had the company been forced to pay me $15/hour right out of the gate, I wouldn't have even gotten a chance.

Who is going to do those jobs? Hopefully nobody, so that the employers have to pay more for labor, causing the wages to rise. That is how wages rise, not a fucking government mandate. Also cashier is one of the most unproductive jobs in existence, I can't wait for robocashiers. It even prevents gunpoint robbery if done right. Where in history is there an example of a society that didn't have enough labor to fill the most menial jobs? That simply doesn't happen.

>State Dept investigates previous head of the State Dept.
>State Dept says "there is nothing to see here."
America carries on being blissfully ignorant.

abcnews.go.com/Politics/emails-show-improper-influence-clinton-foundation-state-department/story?id=41312481

>nobody
How are they going to eat, user? Let's say minimum earners grow their own food, with what money are they going to buy gas to get kids to school? How are they going to pay for water and electricity? How about housing? Going off the grid to force wages up isn't going to work for them and if it did, it would collapse the whole system. Total chaos and anarchy. I guess this is the only way Capitalist are going to humble, when their money stops coming in.

What's that Steinbeck quote; the American people don't see themselves as poor, just temporarily embarrassed millionaires.

PROTIP: YOU ARE NOT MEANT TO SUPPORT A FAMILY ON A MINIMUM WAGE JOB

Exactly, someone has to fill those jobs. It's nearly impossible to strike nowadays, the government will shut that shit down and employers have a huge line of desperate employees (mexicans) willing to work for pennies, go back to mexico and live well.

The American edumaction system is a shitshow by all accounts.

Lol I never suggested anything like that. If you remove the minimum wage, people will have to keep working the same shitty jobs, or actually learn a way to provide value to society beyond manning a cash register. But if they choose to man the cash register, let them do it with the smallest income possible, and hope to god they don't reproduce.

Yet we still rank at the top for colleges/universities. I don't know why but we still sit at the top educationally. 19451

>Have 5 kids with 8 different partners on a minimum wage Walmart "career"
>Sheeeeeit why I so damn poor

Fucking die ya commie poof.

That's a pretty dumb argument so I assume you didnt go to one of those colleges.

OK for real here...if it's that bad go find another fucking job.
Go get training if you need it, take some loans etc etc...if you've made so many bad choices that literally none of these options are available to you then you DESERVE to live like a cockroach.

Getting a liveable wage is not rocket science, it's not easy sure but it's doable.

Ranking our primary and secondary schools is bullshit because we have something called minorities. These rankings measure 1 underlying factor, IQ, and the Asians have us beat on that.

I've not been over there so I'm only repeating what I've heard over the years. The gap between the best and the rest is probably pretty large. In the UK it used to be better but it's getting much worse from what I've heard.

>Implement a system that allows companies to literally pay below the minimum cost of living and still have workers
>Surprised that they do this and still have workers

The job of a corporation is to maximize profits for its shareholders. If you give them a tool, they WILL use it. It's the equivalent of giving out free bread before the customer makes an order, there will be some asshole who just eats all your bread and then leaves.

We've understood this from the beginning, which is why we don't like free bread.

You're the fucksticks who like making rules so much, you think we wouldn't like to see fewer people on welfare? Fuck yes we would, CHANGE THE FUCKING RULES.

But of course you won't, because however much you bitch about wal-mart, you like having more people on welfare. They've done your job for you, more effectively than you could possibly have done it yourself. You'll bitch about their villainy but you'll never act to stop it.

Because during the cold war half of the world's labor supply was made of dem ebil gommies so what labor was available was more valuable.

>work at the jewmart
>make 780 a week
>not be a drug addict
>not shit out kids at the age of 16
>not a nigger

Good golly gee willikers batman it sure is easy to not be retarded.

>implying anyone anywhere pays anyone more than is necessary to keep them around

These fucks who didn't bother to do shit in school and now think they should live a nice middle-class lifestyle for holding down what is basically an after-school job are why I always go to the self-checkout.

mkay mr educated, you do realize that low skill laborers make up the majority of the workforce all over the world, our governments are constantly importing more of them and insisting on border elimination because, apparently, millions a year added isn't enough to keep wages low and you and I are the ones who make up the difference in what they need and what they get paid.

So when you go around saying that it's not walmarts job to pay them living wages you're forcing everyone else to make up the wages. More and more jobs are like this - part time, not enough pay, get raped by taxes and then told the only way to get that money is to sign up for easy to get government programs - that you and I pay for.

I prefer walmart just fucking pony up the dough. I don't get shit from their cashiers and if it's them or me paying then it needs to fucking be them.

A friend of mine was a manager at Wal-Mart who didn't get a raise in three years. After he tried hard for a raise (it was meager, less than a dollar) and got it, they fired him within a month.

Anecdotal, but Wal-Mart really does not give a fuck about its employees. Every single one of them is expendible.

>Profits were $115B last quarter
>Stock is worth $229B

Huh, really makes you think. Just invest your $7.50 an hour into Walmart stock and it'll double in 2 years. Guaranteed $15/hr you always wanted.

I'm a cartpusher at Walmart.

I make 8.50 an hour, before taxes.

I'm not on subsidies, or food stamps, or jack shit. I don't get support from my parents, or friends, or whatever.

Not only am I paying my own rent, student loans, AND saved up well over a couple grand for a vehicle - I still bought a high-end gaming computer and regularly buy games in addition to my normal bills.

My coworkers don't NEED the handouts. They take them to cover their bases because they can't handle money. They blow it on frivolous poor people shit. Rims, big TVs, brand-name consumables, you get the idea.

Walmart's just a corporation filling a role. If it wasn't them it would be someone else. No matter how much they paid their low tier employees they would still be government parasites because it's who they are as people.

The only exceptions are those with tremendous expenses, like single mothers supporting children and shit. These are a tremendously low percentage of people I work with, so it's barely worth mentioning them.

Most people don't work at Wal-Mart for gambling money.

They work at Wal-Mart to pay rent, buy food. Those kind of things.

Do you have a breakdown of your expenses? I'm actually curious. 8.50 sounds like shit to live off of, but I agree with you that most poor people can't manage their money at all.

>buy games
Fag

>our governments are constantly importing more of them and insisting on border elimination

>This is Wal-Mart's fault and they should pay to fix it... because otherwise I have to.

nigger logic

Walmart pays 10 dollars an hour

>People shouldn't expect to make a living wage off unskilled work
>Education shouldn't become too accessible because it'll devalue diplomas
>Diplomas that are required to make a living wage, but we can't give out too many or they'll become meaningless

Are you fucking retarded?

>shitpost on Sup Forums
fag

are you mentally retarded?

The shoe fits

>i have no idea what "strawman" means

200/mo in rent, 200/mo for utilities (mostly electric cuz vidya), food I don't know off the top of my head, but I eat a lot of rice, eggs and oats and cheap shit. Meat very sparingly, and usually fished myself (I'm in Florida)

Man's gotta have a hobby. I pirate all my books/movies/music.

Discussion of wages don't make sense when nobody knows where anyone else lives. You can live rather nicely on minimum wage in Kansas, for example, but it will be abject poverty in New York or Chicago.

A 2-bed, 2-bath in Iowa costs a fraction of a studio in Chicago. There's simply no frame of reference.

Weren't you asked to quit straw manning?

Greentext is supposed to be used for things a person actually said, not something you made up. Anyways, diplomas aren't the only way to gain skills. US needs more things like trade school and apprenticeship programs. Dumbing down college isn't the way to fix the retardation gap.

Hey dummies....the heir to Walmart donated heavily to the Obama campaign, and then Walton family asked the Walmart workforce to not attend the Republican convention this year.

So to answer your question, OP...it is leftists in places of power keeping the little guy down.

Repubricas- baaaad
Democrats - duh

>Retards that volunteer to work at Walmart?

yes im sure they turned down better offers

and no your incoming false dilemma doesnt exonerate walmart

>want

Florida

If Workers want to be paid more, they should probably work a job that isn't doable by someone with 80 IQ. There are literally at least 6 billion people qualified for those jobs (subtracting subsaharans since they dindu nuffin). They don't need to be paid more.

these jobs have to be done because they aren't automated yet, it's also not like people can just fuck off and live off the land anymore

who is responsible for what is subjective

THEN WHO WORKS THE CASH REGISTER?!

How about you dont work for fucking walmart?

8/10
and lolled

>Let's give all our employees a $5/hour raise
>$115 billion profits annual become $30 billion loss
>company folds in two years.

>minimum wage is bullshit

ladies and gents, i present you the conservative mindset

Fuck walmart and the plutocracy that spawned them.

businessinsider.com/obama-admin-admits-to-covertly-sending-heavy-weapons-to-syrian-rebels-2012-12

REMIND THEM

Lucky you, our government spends all it's welfare allowance on MAX, the employment company. The idea is that unemployed people are a threat if they have too much free time. Maybe you've heard of them before? Taking advantage of homeless americans?

Ahh, gotta have money to make money I guess.

Walmart is great. Always open. Cheap af.

Employment is a VOLUNTARY EXCHANGE. These people, one way or another, decided they are better off working these jobs than not. We should be thankful Walmart is providing these employment opportunities.

People who believe all jobs should provide them a working wage are pathetic. Want more money? Get a better job. Walmart isn't a fucking charity.

so?
and?

he means public edumaction

I never worked at Wal-Mart but from what I heard, they pay their workers above minimum. There's only so much a skill-less, replaceable worker is worth.

Either automate it, or have the next generation of stupid work it.

walmart sucks

I never go there

>britcucks think its unfair to take care of yourself

There's certainly issues with walmart that i think have to do with the fact that people still go and from there

>Not only am I paying my own rent, student loans, AND saved up well over a couple grand for a vehicle - I still bought a high-end gaming computer and regularly buy games in addition to my normal bills.

anecdotal fallacy

>My coworkers don't NEED the handouts. They take them to cover their bases because they can't handle money. They blow it on frivolous poor people shit. Rims, big TVs, brand-name consumables, you get the idea.

dunning-kruger

>but if we raise the minimum wage by a buck or two to reduce the subsidies the govt pays to walmart employees, walmart will just fire everyone and move the china

Actually it is. Your job is supposed to be your lively hood.

Do you think people actually want to work at Walmart? I have and met the people. All of them there had something go wrong in their previous companies and just couldnt find work anywhere else in time to make bills so took what they got.

This one guys job was sent to Mexico. He worked his way up to management and had a nice life until that day. He applied everywhere desperately and kept hearing "your resume is impressive but this job requires this degree."

Another guy a Mexican was working at a construction yard. One day he was told they were replacing him for foreign workers and he needed to train them and his job would be over when they are done. He obviously walked off and couldnt find nothing else in time since his life was construction.

Did he plan to get replaced? No. He also hates illegals now.

Because I think that I'm going to be a billionaire businessman one day and Inwant to make sure the rules are set up in my favor when I get there.

I'm only temporarily not rich, any day now it's gonna be me

>Who's really causing the welfare state?

The government and the left wing. If we cut those subsidies, Walmart workers would be forced to demand a higher wage or starve. As usual, the Left tries to help the poor but ends up taxing the middle class to subsidize the rich.

>Employment is a VOLUNTARY EXCHANGE.

false dilemma
the same was said back before child labor laws and workers rights were ever conceived

its no excuse

Walmart only has a profit margin of 3-4%
