literally who

>What are George A. Romero's best films, or your personal favourites?
Night of The Living Dead and Creepshow are his best. I like Martin.

letterboxd.com/smoothhands/

Kino will set you free

Are documentaries worth logging?

Followed you bro, here is me

letterboxd.com/TheShrimp/

Sure, why not?

Feels like cheating to be honest.

>hasn't watched any Jia since MMD
Why

Meh, I log everything. Even short films

Got a bunch of them chambered, but don't feel like watching them at the moment, I was catching up on movies I missed in 2016.

I don't log shorts, but I guess documentaries is alright then.

What are some more films like The Agony and The Ecstasy?

What about music videos, commercials, mini-series, and multi-film collections?

>Mountain May Depart
shitty Chinese melodrama. what's so special about that faggot?

>I only watch films from festivals
The definition of braindead. Silent Chinese films are far superior than anything you'll find in that wasteland today.

The fact that he made the oppressive commienigger "real socialism hasn't been tried bro!" third world government of Shyna throw an autistic fit and block art (seemingly common in commienigger niggerstates). Back to /leftypol/ with your anti-west sentiment you pedophile hapa-ape.

>giving a fuck about the well-being of chinamen
back2reddit kiddo

You're the one defending their disgusting actions lmao. You seem confused.

Do you guys think Will "pedo_gorro" Folsom and Mega "shyneese gubmint dindu nuffin" Confused go to the same pedophile cult?

I don't care about China. Everything they make is cheap and shit. You implying a 21st century Chinese filmmaker is anything beyond shit makes you look like a braindead faggot that can't find anything foreign to watch or like that's not from a festival.

He made films in the 90s too lmfao Mega Commie is low info as well as low IQ hahahahahaha

>paint by numbers, primitive filmmaking fanboy can't understand a hypermodern auteur like Zhangke
I'm not surprised desu

Name a single original or good thing about him content-wise. Adjustments to modern life have already been covered a million times in the 10's and 20's even in Chinese cinema. Just transplant it to 90's and early new millennium. I don't even have to demand an answer for formal innovations since he obviously has none.

aeltbx quit grazing over wikipedia and actually learn some history and theory before you pretend like you know anything.

If anybody in this general actually had taste or a semblance of film histry knowledge, they'd know one of the films on the 3x3 I posted last general featured a film that was similar to the content of and far better to anything Jia Zhangke could ever hope to make.

Post it again.

You're a big boy. You can find it yourself.

>Formal innovations.
One of the most superficial aspects of films. Basically non sequitur here. About to be as useless comment as "dat cinematography wev bro wooo pee pee poo!"

And Zhangke has told us stories about China in a fascinating, brilliant way.

>adjustments to modern life already told in 10's and 20's
Again the superficial pseudo commentary of the Redditor rears its ugly head, unable to write anything longer about Zhangke's critique of new China because either he hasn't seen his films or he is simply unable to understand their context and significance, because they speak more than the Redditor is unable to grasp, since they are more than just technical showcases.

Mine was better.

>And Zhangke has told us stories about China in a fascinating, brilliant way.
No he hasn't, and you couldn't even explain why you think so if you tried because you're just a braindead festivaldrone.

to the Redditor among us film is nothing but a technical showcase. He is doomed to like formally innovative films just because - he is unable to grasp the significance of films that transcend the medium away from just a byproduct of work and production, that makes it art. He will be doomed to defend his position with a failed utilitarian approach where each film becomes just a means to an end, to a next film and next formal innovation. He will never be able to understand the narrative and context of the films, or the moods, and what the film might mean to someone else. Where others see beauty and poetry in motion, the Redditor will see just a Kantian means to an end. Film is not art to him; it is just a product of work, devoid of higher transcendentalism, finding One, Truth, Beauty.

I have zero knowledge what has or has not been shown in film festivals over the past 120 years.

The fact that your neural assocation with Zhangke's critique is "no u", just speaks louder about your own neural network that is unable to connect his films to a larger than film itself context.

It speaks of your pea sized brain.

Not at all. All minor works minus Sorrows. You don't even know more than 3 of the films on mine. If any of you did, you wouldn't be asking for their names after I mentioned content.

Please. Blatantly obvious metaphors for globalization are nothing to fedoratip over. Definitely nothing special either.

Now that he's been chosen as the new Doctor Who, what are you hopes and expectations for the franchise?

...

George Romero's non-zombie movies are very underappreciated. Monkey Shines is very entertaining and Knightriders is great.

I don't post in these threads, is Miami Vice sincerely liked or is it just a meme? I like it unironically.

I love it unconditionally and unironically.

1978 Dawn of the Dead was ahead of its time IMO.

Pride goeth before a fall.

When are you going to stop posting your profile? I already noticed you stopped posting screenshots of your scores. You're the exact personification of what this user is making fun of

Speak English

If the amount of times I've watched something means anything, then Miami Vice must be my favourite movie.

I could say the same for Birth of a Nation. I never tire of the opening. Griffith had his hand on the heartbeat of a collective nation

"The seed was planted with bringing over of the negro"

>Stop making movies about movies; make movies about life.

"There is no other film that has been remade more than DW Griffith's legendary Birth of a Nation. It has not been surpassed either."

-Gilles Deleuze

why would you take those pictures you creep

dat cinematography wev bro wooo pee pee poo!

"The most beautiful single shot I have seen in any movie is the battle charge in The Birth of a Nation. I have heard it praised for its realism, and that is deserved; but it is also far beyond realism. It seems to me to be a perfect realization of a collective dream of what the Civil War was like, as veterans might remember it fifty years later, or as children, fifty years later, might imagine it. I have had several clear mental images of that war, from almost as early as I can remember, and I didn’t have the luck to see “The Birth of a Nation” until I was in my early twenties; but when I saw that charge, it was merely the clarification, and corroboration, of one of those visions, and took its place among them immediately without seeming to be of a different kind or order. It is the perfection that I know of, of the tragic glory that is possible, or used to be possible, in war; or in war as the best in the spirit imagines or remembers it. "

-James Agee

What did he mean by this?

"[DW Griffith] made the first great pictures. Birth of a Nation, Intolerance, Broken Blossoms, Way Down East - Hearts of the World, to name only a few."

-Erich von Stroheim

Do you have a reason why you didn't give Foolish Wives 5 stars beyond "I didn't get it"

>Me in the middle

Emily Bean

>What are George A. Romero's best films
His must watch masterpieces are:

>Night of the Living Dead
>Dawn of the Dead
>Day of the Dead
>Creepshow
>Martin

Although Martin isn't available in HD because Richard P. Rubinstein is a delusional greedy prick. You'll either have to buy the out of print DVD for an absurd amount of money or download a DVD rip from a torrent site.

I've seen every single Stroheim work and did not recognize a single shot. Should have picked a better shot.
Name all of these

I want more films where the director is blatantly jerking off his own fragile ego. I want more laughs. Please help me out, /lbg/.
