Everyone is a atheist, because religiosity goes agaisn't the nature of human cognition, which is to question everything. If you call yourself a christian you're just being disingenuous and dishonest. Discuss.

>if you hold X to be true, then you do not question everything
sometimes people find answers to questions
>religiosity goes against the nature of human cognition
then why has the overwhelming majority of people who've lived on earth since the beginning of history held to the belief in some sort of higher power?
They hold it as a superstition, habit etc.., they don't truly believe in it., but they pray because it gives them comfort, so it works like coping skills.
>they don't truly believe in it
doesn't the fact that you claim to be omniscient/telepathic contradict your naturalistic worldview?
I think making threads like this on a board generally opposed to this opinion is a coping skill for you.
You might have had a valid point if you said something like "everyone starts an atheist" but you didn't so you don't.
Stop pretending to be intelligent. No one's buying it.
You don't see people here killing children or others in the name of religion, even if it was necessary no one would do it because it's dumb.
I want to challenge the people who hold this view.
But then that woudn't be the point i'm trying to make.
Why? Would you find some delight in "converting" someone who holds an opposing view? Isn't that *gasp* something a religious person would do?
The crux of your initial argument is so terribly flawed, by the way. In order for atheism to even exist, so does theism; meaning, atheists are reliant on the belief in God for their very existence. This, in turn, makes all atheists theists at their very core.
OP this is my thread now GTFO
you're right.
I would like you to challenge gravity by jumping off of a bridge.
i rly hope they put all religious threads in a new /rel/ Sup Forums.
im sick of seeing religion in pol.
You make the mistake of assuming that everyone has a high enough level of cognition.

>the nature of human cognition, which is to question everything.
Is it though?
You got people in Northern/Western Europe having 70% of their income being taken away by the state, and they're totally fine with it!

Also for OP and others:

atheism can exist without theism, and it's called skepticism.
>they don't truly believe in it., but they pray because it gives them comfort
You say this as a devout Christian, I trust?
>which is to question everything
This is wrong tho. Most humans question nothing. Look at the Holocaust. Most people in the West believe it without question. In fact, societies in general dislike inquisitive people.
...
fuck off its not our fault your country is a jew paradise of half breed convict children and voodoo
...
Athiesm is a religion, and OP is a faggot.
This guy gets it.
>Everyone is a atheist
Preposterous. Like, you're literally retarded.
...
reminder that you were born an athiest
Nice collection, bulgarbro.
How could you begin to be skeptic of theism without its existence? You couldn't. Just admit it, you rely on theism for your argument to even hold up.
>Calls OP a faggot
>Agrees with one of OP's faggot opinions
>oof boof rowlf
shuddup dawg
>OP is a faggot
>OP gets it
Nobody is born atheist. Atheism is a conscious and assertive choice.

*Tips*
Some things are inherently unknowable.
So you can be a Christian Agnostic, like me.
I use my human cognition for those things that can be known for certain. I choose to believe in those that can't be known for certain.
Q.E.D.
Let me rephrase this: The natural state of the mind is to scientifically analyze everything. This is how technology and philosophy came to be. The point is, how can you have faith if you're rational human being? If you identifiy as a Christian and do religious practicies while fully aware of this, aren't you just lying to yourself? You attribute the goodness of mankind to some made-up
concept, instead of a more concrete thing like love. To me, religion should be nothing more than a coping skill with no say in important matters.
Unfortunately for you, it is not one of those two times.
If christcucks believe in heaven why are they so sad when other people die and why do they try to survive themselves?
Religion is the great disciplining force of society, the glue that holds everything together.
What purpose is there without it?
Science is nothing more than the investigation of a miracle we cannot fully explain, and Religion is the interpretation of that miracle.
If you try to humble everything you will be left with nothing.
"Suppose we have only dreamed, or made up, all those things-trees and grass and sun and moon and stars and Aslan himself. Suppose we have. Then all I can say is that, in that case, the made-up things seem a good deal more important than the real ones. Suppose this black pit of a kingdom of yours is the only world. Well, it strikes me as a pretty poor one. And that's a funny thing, when you come to think of it. We're just babies making up a game, if you're right. But four babies playing a game can make a play-world which licks your real world hollow. That's why I'm going to stand by the play world. I'm on Aslan's side even if there isn't any Aslan to lead it. I'm going to live as like a Narnian as I can even if there isn't any Narnia. So, thanking you kindly for our supper, if these two gentlemen and the young lady are ready, we're leaving your court at once and setting out in the dark to spend our lives looking for Overland. Not that our lives will be very long, I should think; but that's a small loss if the world's as dull a place as you say.”

No it doesn't.
There is an evolutionary basis for seeking God, see Agent detection.

Educate yourself.
People are genetically predisposed to finding God. After I understood this fact, I understood to not bother arguing with religious people. They are entirely different to me.
You're right, but how the heck are atheists theist? By acknowledging the non-existance of religion, They are within the spectrum of religiosity, and that's it. Skepticism is outside this spectrum. in theory it would question any transcendental thing even without existing.
Eh, I can see what you mean, but dude's right. You don't have "belief in god" at birth. That's irrefutable.
The real dishonest one here is you OP. The Bible the word of God is provable and verifiable. You're just too lazy to educate yourself. So you take the easy way out.
>You're right, but how the heck are atheists theist?
Define god.
...
I would dare say that anyone who relies on or the belief in God (or any deity) is a theist. Since atheists rely on the belief in God to exist, that would fall in the realm of theism. Atheism is just a distorted and perverted perception.
Even the Devil still believes in God.
>Use human knowledge to ascribe meaning to an omniscient deity

People are agnostic at best at birth. They are ignorant and do not know anything on the matter so can't decide anything. Atheism is saying that there is no God. A newborn has no concept of God to either believe in or disbelieve.
Again, I can see what you mean, and even agree to a point, but atheists will tell you atheism is simply the lack of belief in God; babies (and agnostics for that matter) have no belief in God, and are therefore atheist.
I'm about to crush OP into oblivion if you'd have some patience, son.
Depends on the person. To some it comes more naturally than to others.
Similarly to how a psychopath will murder without remorse, but an ordinary person is capable of the same act but at the cost of his mental health.
They need theism to define themselves as atheists. Without theism the term "atheist" doesn't mean anything. However, the concepts of understanding trough observation and Occam's razor can be upheld even in the absence of ideas like theism or atheism, so everything that makes a lifestyle that of an atheist would still be there without theism.
Personally, as an atheist, What the fuck are you on?
Jesus cried when Lazarus died, even though he probably knew he was going to bring him back to life.
It is at this point that I should note the bible doesn't imply these fags are going to heaven.
Nearly all "christian" religions are comprised almost entirely of self-contradictory garbage.
You'll find a common theme among people who started reading a bible and asking questions to their priest/rabbi or whatever: he either has no idea, answers with something that directly contradicts what they just read, and/or tells/implies to them they need to stop asking questions.
>atheists will tell you atheism is simply the lack of belief in God;
That's a bit wrong, though.
Atheism is the belief that a god does not exist, or extended another way, the belief that the beliefs' of religions involving the belief of a god are wrong.
Disbelief and lack of belief (no belief) are not interchangeable.
He's 14 and/or is thinking about this stuff for the first time. He's also Brazilian. Cut him some slack.
>Atheism is the belief that a god does not exist
I think atheists are full of shit, don't misunderstand; I'm just pointing out their prevailing stance: a = without, theism = belief in god. To be "without belief in god" is what defines an atheist. I don't even think adult atheists exist according to that definition (babies and the unexposed are the only people who qualify), but for them, it does mean that people like babies and agnostics fall under the umbrella.
Atheists are of three kinds.
1 The mere stupid man. (Often he is very clever, as Bolingbroke, Bradlaugh and Foote were clever). He has found out one of the minor arcana, and hugs it and despises those who see more than himself, or who regard things from a different standpoint. Hence he is usually a bigot, intolerant even of tolerance.
2 The despairing wretch, who, having sought God everywhere, and failed to find Him, thinks everyone else is as blind as he is, and that if he has failed—he, the seeker after truth!—it is because there is no goal. In his cry there is pain, as with the stupid kind of atheist there is smugness and self-satisfaction. Both are diseased Egos.
3 The philosophical adept, who, knowing God, says “There is No God,” meaning, “God is Zero,” as qabalistically He is. He holds atheism as a philosophical speculation as good as any other, and perhaps less likely to mislead mankind and do other practical damage as any other. Him you may know by his equanimity, enthusiasm, and devotion. I again refer to Liber 418 for an explanation of this mystery. The nine religions are crowned by the ring of adepts whose password is “There is No God,” so inflected that even the Magister when received among them had not wisdom to interpret it.
