No wonder there's a gender identity crisis here.

Is "el meme" or "la meme"?

>Why yes, I do think a door is feminine

it's DER Fenster ryan

>it thinks that language directs thoughts
haha oh wow. i didn't know you dinosaurs were still around lmao
dust yourself off for me. i want to get a better look at you

What the fuck are you even going on about? I don't speak autism... at least, not your particular dialect.

A door is very feminine because it's always staying at home and when you get angry you punch it

...

there was an antiquated idea that the language someone spoke influenced how they interpreted sensory information and processed ideas (eg mathematical or social)
it's quite a silly theory, since it hasn't been supported by an ounce of evidence, and no test been devised to test the idea could distinguish the hypothesis from its contrapositive (not that i'd expect you to know what that means lmao)

ayy

God damnit, a frenchman that made me laugh

wtf i love baguettes now

>some american magazine knows german better than a native speaker

whatever

I'm a math student, kid. Don't start a conversation on sentential logic that you can't finish.

hmmm

haha don't try me

I concede. What kind of research are you doing?

>I made him look it up

patrician banter

gaslighting at 6:40 on a saturday is NOT ok

i'm a first year student haha. I was talking to a solid state theorist about quantum computing because the mathematics is interesting to me (topology, graph and group theory), but he told me in a very indirect way to look elsewhere for various reasons, typical of an out of touch intellectual like him.

i'm looking between the high/low energy nuclear physics people at my department and i might try the biophysics.
i don't know which of them has the cool maths; but simulation, modeling and data analytic work is also interesting to me.

i'm wary of astro because i feel the field is too dogmatic, and relies too heavily on incomplete or just outright wrong theories.

one of my bachelors was strictly mathematics. ama

I'm a junior undergrad majoring in physics and minoring in math (math classes are IMPOSSIBLE to get into here). I'm trying to get into an electronic structure theory lab that deals with relativistic quantum mechanics, but I'm not sure if that's going to come through. I feel like I'm fucked as it's halfway through my junior year and I haven't done any research. Any advice on how to approach people for research opportunities as an undergraduate?

It does you nigger

what i did to get my first undergraduate research position was as follows:
i emailed the first person in the physics directory and said, "I heard from an unreliable source that you had an undergraduate research position open. Is this true?
if it's not, could you point me int he right direction?
Thanks in advance,
[my name] "

lol, ok retard. oonga boonga, you feel me? haha

French American mutts are DISGUSTING. KILL YOURSELVES!

Language is very important, try to do philosophy in a subsaharian language.

>me ooga
>therefore me booga

deep.

i know you're desperately trying to save face by not replying to me, but did this thought ever occur to you:
Languages are developed by people, not the other way around.

think about it for maybe 10 minutes and then get back to me.
i doubt you'll be able to deceive yourself with such retarded notions further

try and do it in french WITHOUT using -isme

You're not being any better than he is, you're just throwing a bunch of statements without any proper evidence and, when challenged, appealing to some inherent unwarranted smugness of yours and/or "b-but muh degree".

At the end of the day certains topics such as linguistic relativity are still actively controversial and debated in the academic world, and for now we're not at all in a position to herald either side as being right on that issue, let alone on other more fundamental ones such as the early development of language.

Idiot faggot, you think tribal people in Amazonie wouldn't change if I teach them French and force theme to use it?

>À cela s’ajoute que l’on concède généralement à l’anglais une concision expressive et imagée qui, si elle peut nuire parfois à la précision (surtout dans l’anglo-américain très pauvre qui sert ordinairement de langue internationale commune), s’accorde au rythme précipité de la vie moderne.

Based Académie Française, American English is a poor and imprecise language

DELETE THIS

All Romance-derived languages are shit. Any language that has gendered nouns, irregular verbs, spelling that has silent letters, hard C, complicated tenses etc. are SHIT.

If French are shit, why is it considerated as the most romantic language worldwide and why do so many people learn it?

American English is as mongrelized as its people
